I have an ASP.NET GridView that has four columns. The first three are typical BoundField elements bound to a DataTable. The forth is a TemplateField element that I create a DropDownList in on the OnRowCreated event for the GridView.
What I'm attempting to do is walk down the data source for the GridView when a button is pressed. I really just need to get the values for columns one and four of each row. The first three columns have data as expected but the forth is displaying as empty. Is this because it wasn't a part of the DataTable originally? Is there any way to get the value for each drop down as I've described it, or will I need to rework this so each drop down list is a part of the DataTable?

Wat i did is in the first header of gridview dropdownlist i have binded the PO Item , so that user can select item n make invoice...
Here the problem is user will click addnewrow button to create new row second row , again user is able to select the same item what he selected in first row of gridview. here how to avoid duplication in the second row .
Say i have four PO item
Item1,Item2,Item3,item4
user may select Item1 in first row , after clicking addnewrow button user will get second row
here again user is able to select Item1 from dropdownlist ... how to avoid duplicate selection
coz the dropdownlist is binded from database using sqldatasource n filter based on user selected PO no.
Duplicate Item selection should be removed until all the four item is selected ...
I have a list with 2 sorts of items. Items that have actual values (1,2,3,4 etc) and items that are like group headings so all their values are set to 0. If someone decides to select a group heading - which has a value of 0, is it possible to redirect them to my 'Select an item' item which has a value of ""?
If worse comes to worse, I can just reconstruct the entire list, although if possible I'd like to avoid it.
I am trying to get a drop down and a form view to work together. I've never used form views before. I also am using the entity framework to do everything. This is also my first time with it.
I want to be able to have a drop down, that is populate from the same data source as the form view. So far that works fine.

I have 2 dropdownlists, the second (department) cascades from the first (division). I use a jquery script to update the second drop down list. When the user clicks submit, the underlying model is updated, apart from the new value for department. 2 ideas I have for fixing this are; a) Generate a postback. Prefer not to do this because of bad user experience. b) With a JQuery change event, make a call to server side and set a ViewData variable that I can use to update the field in the model later.
However there must be a better way. This is the view;

the problem that it is not causing post back on the first selection but on the second, I mean if i select from drop down list first selection no post back on the server,but when i select another item from the list (the second click on a different list item )
I have the following scenarion. I have a range of drop down menus where a clietn can select. The code below is wrapped in an update panel but without this, the button click fires a method to retrieve the number of products. So for example, an item is selected from ddlCategory, the btnValidate is clicked and the label returns the number of products within that category.I have the following code for an update panel - I'm just not sure how to implement if effectively.

This is my first post as a newbie to asp.net.
I am in the process of creating a "news system", you can add, edit and delete news. The news items can be entered into the SQL database and you select a category where you want the news item to go into.
What I want is when someone comes to the "Edit" screen, they have a drop down list and what that does is allows you to select a category for you to edit news items from, so rather than at present having the "Edit" page display all the news items, I want people to be able to choose a category that they can edit news items in.

I am currently building a web site and I utilize cascading drop down lists. I am having difficulty clearing two of my drop downs. The application is utilizing Visual Basis. Here is what I found through my research but they are not resetting my drop downs after a post back:
cascadingDropDown1.SelectedValue = Nothing
cascadingDropDown1.SelectedValue = ""
I am stumped on this on and have spent several hours researching this. If anyone has a possible solution I would be greatful.
I have been having some trouble with dropdown lists reverting back to selecting the initial item in the list after a postback once a selection has been made from the dropdown list. I have read up on this and found out that a "if not ispostback then" is required.This works fine when I add in all the items in the dropdown list manually like:

This loads all the items into the dropdown list perfectly, but now every time a selection is made, it reverts back to the inital item on postback even though i have included the "if not ispostback then" part.

I have an asp:ListBox which contains a list of countries. Users select one or more countries and then assign them to another list box on the page.

In Internet Explorer, if I scroll down (say to United States) and then click it, the list scrolls back to the top. United States is still selected, if I press the "Assign" button it will appear within the second list box, and if I scroll down I can see that United States is still selected.
However, users are complaining about this, especially since it happens so quickly that they can't select multiple countries.
I tried using smartnavigation and MaintainScrollPosition, but this has had no effect.

I have a dropdown list which has states retrieved from a table. I want to have an option to add new states.. I have added a list item NEW in the dropdown. When I click on NEW i should get a pop up to add a new state and goes in the table.
