I have written a code that populates data from database into the tree using C# and is working perfectly , the thing is how can i populate the tree based on a selection from a drop down menu

This is my first post as a newbie to asp.net.
I am in the process of creating a "news system", you can add, edit and delete news. The news items can be entered into the SQL database and you select a category where you want the news item to go into.
What I want is when someone comes to the "Edit" screen, they have a drop down list and what that does is allows you to select a category for you to edit news items from, so rather than at present having the "Edit" page display all the news items, I want people to be able to choose a category that they can edit news items in.
So far my edit page has a datagrid with the following code:

In the same page i have a gridview which is binded by database (RecipeTable) to show the list of recipes available.
My problem is how should i bind gridview with the navigation bar selection.
e.g: when a user clicks on Healthy Recipe the gridview should show the recipes saved under healthy recipes type.
If the drop down list event change gridview column values to be changed.

View 1 RepliesI have dynamically popute the data in Dropdownlist(Countries) and the On selected index event of Dropdownlist there is noeed to bind /populate the Checkbox list from database depending on the selections made from the Dropdownlist.
For example If I select Gujrata then all the cities of Gujrat should be visible and bounded to the check box list.
2) Once the checkbox list is bounded with data from the database, We need to select the checkbox from the checkboxlist and pass tyhe selected text of all the selected checkboxes fro the checkbox list as comma seperated values to database and then I need to Display in the Grid.

i already use a treview to show the first table but i want to show details about the selected group sub categories in a grid view.
for exaple if a user click just BMW(ID1) i want to show the details as below.

i am using c# ASP.NET.
I have a tree view which uses my SQL database and tables to generate the tree view and list of reports under the different categories and folders. That all works perfectly... However, since some of the reports are private, and some of the reportsare pubic I was hoping to be able to adjust the image of the report to a different icon to differentiate between the two. Here is my code which generates the tree view and lists the reports below it:(All code is in VB.NET)

the problem that it is not causing post back on the first selection but on the second, I mean if i select from drop down list first selection no post back on the server,but when i select another item from the list (the second click on a different list item )

From the ddl selection I would like to populate the textbox or label from a database with a corresponding field from the database the dropdownlist was populated from. On selectindexchange event I can populate the textbox with the Unique id from the value, but I need to input a different field into the textbox. Can I use some sort of variable to assign the Textbox.Text = ?

I tried adding a ddl into my grid header, it was origiinally out side and worked when i put it in the header it no longer worked, i am guesssing i have to do something other than cut past

Basically I want to populate a drop down list with time slots for a user to select. If the time slot is already recorded in the database table I want to skip that one so it doesn't display as a selection in the drop down list.

I have a drop-down list that is wired up to a datasource from one table to retrieve a Vendor ID and Vendor Name. This ddl is outside a FormView that is wired up to a datasource containing Vendor contracts.
When I choose a Vendor from the ddl, I am able to populate a textbox outside of FormView with the Vendor ID from the ddl. However, what I need to do is populate a textbox within FormView with the Vendor ID. FormView is in Insert Mode by default since my page will be used for Adding Contracts only.
While retrieving table data in grid view. How can I particularly select a row and perform any button action on that selected row. I'm new to asp.net.

I want the value, before the edit button is selected, to be the value in one table and once the "Edit" button is selected I want to show values from another table in a drop down menu so the user only has specific values to edit the selected row with.

table 2) tbl_StandardColumns - list of standard column names for system tables.
I want the user to be able to specify which raw non standard columns corospond to the standardized system table columns.

Now, based on user selection say, 'Car', I want to display Help text associated with selection on page. Help text description - 1000 characters. Now, how do I fetch Help Text Description from? should I store in Session scope or Application Scope or fetch from Database based on drop down selection.
I'm having trouble figuring out how to display a gridview based on the selection of a drop down list. I manually entered the drop down list items, but in the configure/choose data source I don't understand how you make a relationship between each list item and the corresponding database table you want to show.
