I click a row in grid view to Edit,it goes another page where i can edit all fields .Once i update i redirect the page to gridview. I was trying to do it with Gridview and Formsview.
With asp 2.0 and vwd 2005, I have a page with a radiobuttonlist, textbox and gridview with edit/delete. Using the radiobuttonlist, the user selects a search type and then enters the criteria in the text box. the click event of a submit button checks the rbl.selectedindex and chooses a sqldatasource.selectcommand with the where clause getting its criteria from the textbox. The gridview loads the data, but the edit/delete are not working. Code and relevant markup is below

I know I can dynamically generate a gridview/repeater/listview control but what I'd like to understand is which option (from stated ones or any other beyond these) would be an optimal solution..S. Paging and Sorting are part of desired functionalities, but can be overlooked if the solution is overwhelming. :)

I am interested in building an intranet document management system to be used from Internet Explorer using ASP.net, VB.net, and MS SQL Server but have no experience in doing a project like this. Supported file types would be txt, pdf (from scanner or imported from file system), or jpg. What concepts I should look at researching/learning about to build the system in a way that files will be stored as small as possible, retrieved and displayed quickly, and secured. View 5 RepliesHow do I reference the delete button to add the delete confirmation box when I have both the Edit and Delete buttons as the last two columns in the Gridview control. The following code works fine without any issues when I have the delete button only:

I need you assistance, Dynamic Delete LinkButton with CommandName=Delete gives me an error: Delete can only be called on a valid data item. nfact I am designing a Complex Grid using .Net 3.5 ListView Control with Scrollbar and Fixed Toolbar: This grid consist of 3 Tables:

ListView give us only one ItemPlaceHolder to Bind Data as per LayoutTemplate, so I cannot able to manupulate my Toolbar Controls with ItemTemplate :(, therefore I decide to use ItemDataBound to add ImageButtons Dynamically using Init Page Event and I am able to get the result as you saw above:
ImageButton with funnel icon is with CommandName="Filter"
ImageButton with magnifier icon is with CommandName="View"

I 'm trying to use a gv with a modal formview to edit the row details
my first problem is: i can't get the Gv data keys there are actually two but i im trying to go one at a time. the data keys will be 1=rideid & 2=rideleg ... the combination of these two fields make all rows unique.
Secondly: after the row has been edited i need to change the data source so it can be saved in a second table.

I'm new to asp.net 3.5 and I have been working through the tutorials using a real access database to learn how to use the new controls. I have an extremely simplistic page setup with a master-details view, the master using the gridview, and the detail using the detailsview controls. Everything seemingly functions correctly, except when I try to update the data in the details view. I make changes to the record, click update and the page posts back but nothing is updated in the database. No errors are given either.
