Apr 10, 2010I'm new to asp.net 3.5 and I have been working through the tutorials using a real access database to learn how to use the new controls. I have an extremely simplistic page setup with a master-details view, the master using the gridview, and the detail using the detailsview controls. Everything seemingly functions correctly, except when I try to update the data in the details view. I make changes to the record, click update and the page posts back but nothing is updated in the database. No errors are given either.

Sep 2, 2010I am using a gridview that contains an asp:fileupload so that when the user clicks 'edit' they can upload a pdf. I need to validate the size of the file, it needs to be less then a certain size. I tried to use a custom validator, but it never get called when the user updates. How can I validate the file size on edit in the gridview?

my first problem is: i can't get the Gv data keys there are actually two but i im trying to go one at a time. the data keys will be 1=rideid & 2=rideleg ... the combination of these two fields make all rows unique.
Secondly: after the row has been edited i need to change the data source so it can be saved in a second table.

Dec 17, 2010This details view is part of a Master/Details. It appears in it's modal pop up like it should when a record is selected in the grid view. But then when the edit button is clicked in the details view the details view and modal pop up disappear. Everything else works correctly. I've used this same pattern successfully for other pages with out this issue.I don't understand why this is happening. There is no event handler that is tied to this. I don't have any code that would cause this.The edit button is just using the edit command that's set declaratively in the mark up. It doesn't have any code in the code behind that would override this.code for the details view:

Apr 4, 2010I have a details view with buttons in the footer. When the user clicks the edit button the calls the ChangeEditMode() method. I want to change the mode of the details view to edit mode which seems to work fine. It goes into edit mode with a text box. I also want it to set the visible property of the edit button to false and set the visible property of the update button to true. Then while still in edit mode the user can click the update button that will call the appropriate method to persist the changes.
I got the changemode() to change to edit but can't change the visible property of the buttons correctly. This is what I have so far. Can some one please tell me what I'm doing wrong?

Feb 25, 2016My admin set innodb_buffer_pool_size=512M, innodb_log_file_size=128M, and innodb_log_buffer_size=1M although in mysql query show global variables its showing what the value is set. When i restart my system also its showing what we set the data.(It means we set log file buffer file size to max and its working fine.) but when i try to upload a file of 58 mb again its throwing error as The size of BLOB/TEXT data inserted in one transaction is greater than 10% of redo log size.

I set up the gridview to show select and wanted to then connect a details view so that when you selected a row the entire details would show up. When I run it I get this error. Data keys must be specified on GridView 'GridView1' before the selected data keys can be retrieved. Use the DataKeyNames property to specify data keys.

I was able to get this to work by setting the visibility to true for the Details View in the Page Load event. I now want the details view to show up when the Select button is clicked in the GridView's template field using the onClick event for the button. I don't seem to be assigning the correct properties to get this to work though. what property I should use with this? I know I have to get it from the GridView and assign it to the details but haven't gotten it to work. this is the GridView:

Oct 25, 2010I'm currently writing a game review site in MVC 2. I'm having some problems both figuring out exactly what to use as my view models and how to display checkboxes in my form for a many-to-many relationship. My main models generated by EF4.
The biggest problem at the moment is trying to figure out how to create checkboxes for a game's platforms. There's a many-to-many relationship between games and platforms - each game can be available on a number of platforms (PS3, XBox 360, etc.), and each platform has a library of games. In my Edit view, I need to list all of the platforms and have the ones the current game is listed for checked. I have the following view model:

Jul 13, 2010I have a partial view (user control) that is shared by my Create and Edit views. When I use it in the Edit view, I have to to include an hidden field (Html.HiddenFor) to prevent a 'Row changed or not found' error in my data service, but when I use it in the Create view, I have to remove the PK hidden field, to prevent an error over trying to insert into an identity column. It is not feasible to not use identity columns in this application, so how can I 'switch' that PK hidden field on or off depending on which action has been invoked?
