I've got very dynamic GridView and I need to allow to user to edit first column of it. After he edit first column of grid it must be updated on DataBase. Is there any ways to handle it ?My only idea is to put some changeable element to first cell of each Row so it must be able to set / get my values for each row but can't find yet any examples of it ... Additional info :GridView takes data from Object data source and all columns are dynamic (yes, maybe except first, but I add it in dynamic way) and load complete DataTable...Currently Using jQuery+Ajax methode on dynamic button but can't disable button's PostBack so with a PostBack it just disappears and dont make the event it must to make...
Can someone tell me if there is a technique to make an entire Column within an gridview (for example digits) editable (instaed of a single row) and update this column after changing values by press an Update-button?
A commercial solution is also o.k. with me, but, of course, a method to do it ourselve would be nice.
I have a gridview control on .aspx page. Situation is, the columns in the gridview control are not databound. I query the database and load the gridview control using the following code.
The gridview control shows about 13 columns from the database. But we want the user to be able to edit only one column. Rest of the 12 columsn should be read only. When the clicks one Edit button button, as usual the Update and Cancel buttons should come up. It is not happening. Only the _Rowediting event is getting trigged. Following is the code from my .aspx page. I don't know anything about template columns and not sure if I have to use that concept in my situation.
After i retrieved a set of datatable from database, i need to edit the rows value before binding to the gridview. for example, a set of datatable is retrived from database.
i would like to change "james@hotmail.com" to "james" then bind it to gridview. Every rows of [userEmail] will be separated with the mail extension (@hotmail.com) ... how should i do..?
I have implemented globalization in my website by using Global Resources. I thought of implementing it not only on controls but in database fields. So for some columns which would be single columns in normal conditions, I considered multiple columns for different culture. For example if there was a [Title] column, I replaced it with [Title-en-US], [Title-en-GB], [Title-es-ES] and etc.I have a web page with a GridView control that displays the content of that table. In a normal case (without globalizing), I would have a TemplateField in the GridView like this:
[Code]....
I have columns for each culture defined in the system so that based on the user's choice, I display that corresponding column content. My question is I have no idea what I should set the Text and SelectedValue properties in HTML code above.Something like this: Text='<%# Bind("myTable.[Title-" + TheSelectedCulture + "]") %>' !!!!!
I'm looking for a technique to edit a whole column (vertical) instead of a row (horizontal).Suppose i have 10 rows en 5 columns (like in Excel), and i want to edit all digits from different students (rows) for test number 3 (column).
I have been trying to get a Gridview of a list of usernames and passwords for site login that the Edit button would be disabled if one of the columns had a certain word in it?
For now, I need the Edit button to be disabled if the Username for a record is "admin". Is there a way to do this? My current code is here:
In the example below I have set the control style to 'controlName' I want to use this class to define what my textbox looks like in edit mode. This works ok, so far so good. The Problem In a button event I add the class "validationError" to this textbox if the data is incorrect. When the grid gets rendered I expect to get 'controlName validationError as the class applied to the textbox. Unfortunately, it seems that the declarative statement overrides this and simply ends up as 'controlName' how I can intercept the application of the declarative class so that I get what I desire here?
I need to check for two differect text to make the Edit button inactive. For example, I need to make the button inactive when the ActionTypeName field has value either Accepted date or Received date. I can do one check with Accepted date but not both.
I have a user requirement to hav the ability to directly edit the gridview without having to click the edit link. I was thinking of showing dropdown lists for each column-to-row so that the user can select the values for each record. Then the table will be updated accordingly (no update link).
Is this possible or do I still need the edit template and specify the item template with the dropdown list?
I have a grid view with edit and save buttons when I click on edit it is letting me edit it and if I click on save it is lettingme save the data that I have edited.
The thing is after save is done it is showing the data in edit mode i.e <edit item template > mode I am still seeing the textboxes if I refresh the page then I am seeing it normally.
How can I stop the gridview to show edit mode after the save is done?
- I want to put multiple rows of a gridview into edit mode
- I have not found any easy method to accomplish this task. I found a way to programmatically put a gridview into edit mode, but in testing the code below it works for only 1 row at a time :
I have a page with 2 GridViews on it. The top GridView shows all the Bike Riders the bottom GridView shows all the Bike Lockers. I have set up both GridViews to be able to Edit the data. And the top GridView to Select.
When I click the Select buton on the top GridView I programically reset the DataSource for the bottom GridView to show the Locker for the Biker of the top GridView Selected.
So far everything works great. I select a Biker on the Top GridView and the Bottom GridView resets just showing one record for the bike locker.
The problem is that if I then click on the Edit button on the bottom GridView (The Bike Locker GridView) the GridView goes into the Edit Mode but it now shows all the Bike Locker records and the edit record is always the top record of the GrdView.
I want to display gridview column heading when mouse over to the particular column in the gridview.I am working in VisualStudio 2005 with MS.Net2.0 framework.I don't want to use ajax.
i have dataset having one table have 5 columns fill data from database.
When i run application datatable contains more than 50 rows, I would like to update value of datatable after getting data from databse. My requirements are This table have few cells having Null value, I would like to replace null with "-" ? One column is System.datetime datatype, where i would like to remove time. I would only like to have date?
Here i am thinking that i apply one loop of rows present in datatable and update cells accordingly. But i am searching any direct update method?
I have a gridview with "Edit Update Cancel" command field. When I click Edit, all the columns in the particular row becomes editable. I just need to have 2 specific columns editable. How is that made possible ? (Screen Shot Attached) [In the screen shot all 3 columns are editable, I just need the second and third to be editable]
GridView, TemplateFields. Is there a way to have a column only appear in DataBound View, but not in Edit View? Leaving EditTemplate blank only blanks out the row, not the entire column.
Using VS2008, and Telerik radGrid version 2010.1.519.35
I have a about 50 DNN modules using telerik radgrid and I need to display my dates in dd/mm/yy format. It is possible to do this easily in view mode, but when I switch to edit mode, it is more of a struggle. I can write a snippit of code to reformat the displayed date values to dd/mm/yy, but for inserts the user must enter mm/dd/yy.
IOW, I need to change the culture of the form to en-GB culture.
In my DotnetNuke App, I have made a change to the web.config, but it still assumes en-US format.
I am not sure whether I need to set this at web.config level, page level or at the column within the control.
