I have a search field (text box) at the top of my page. When you type something, and press enter, the page navigates back to the previous page? What I want it to do is act as if I clicked the Search button.

View 2 RepliesI have an aspx page that postsback when it should not. there are two text boxes, two listboxes and two buttons on the page. if at any-point the enter key is pressed the first button is given focus and "clicked" resulting in a loss of selection within the listboxes.
How do I disable this? there are tons of tutorials on how to capture the enter button and execute a method but I could find one on how to simply disable the neat "let me grab the first button I find and click it" feature mentioned above.
Is it possible to stop my page posting back when the user presses the enter (return) key..?

I am trying to see if it possible to create a back button that goes back 3 pages and refreshes that page. The make up of my page is a little complex. The Home page has a password prompt that enables a multiview to be visible with a gridview of information. The gridview has a details link that has a 2 querystrings that gets sent to the details page. The details page has the ability to be edited and updated. this is why I wanted it to go back 3 pages. The code I am using to go back is

I am using an image button and on click of it i want to go to visited page.

It is going to previous page, but when i am in a page of some user details where the link is looks like - users.aspx?userid=25 and i visit some other page and click back(image button) i want to see the same serdetail page. How to track that.

The problem is that for any other TextBox on the page which is using this MasterPage, for example the login page, if you type your user name and password and hit Enter, The page is redirected to the SearchPage. If you click on login buttton everything works fine. How do I make sure hitting enter on the page in any other text box does not post back to SearchPage.aspx?
I have two search options:
1. On Master Page there is a text box and button for search.
2. on content page there is form for with two texboxes and a button for search.
Now whenever i press enter key from keyboard, the masterpage button event is fires.
I mean in every case when I press enter key from keyboard the same event is called.

Consequently, it is firing a command that I do not want fired.Put another way, I have a ModalPopup with a 'TextBox', 'Image', and three buttons. I can click inside of the TextBox, begin typing, then hit 'enter', and for some reason it acts as though I am clicking on a button that is on my page, not on the Popup.

I have a textbox on my subpage.
When I click the text box i notice that the logout button on my master page gets focus. So if the user types something in the textbox and then presses enter/return (a common reaction it appears) the user inadvertantly logs themselves out as the logout button is triggered.
Is there any way of stopping this?
I have a button in teh content page and teh master page has soem jquery scripts ,the button in the content page does not post back .

if users press the browser's back button to reach the prior page..then page should display a message like "web page expired" in asp.net can i use javascript for this?

there are 4 pages in web sites. 1,2 and 3 can be back. but when the 4th page run then 4th page can not be back... when the user press browser's back button , diaplay ma message "weg page expired".

View 1 RepliesIf you do a search for "ie8 back button disabled" you'll see a number of blogs with people having difficulties with the Internet Explorer version 8 back button becoming disabled. This now happened to one of my ASP .Net pages. The page uses a user control, aspx page, and a master page. It uses no redirects and seems to be happening when I click the back button and then the forward button (after the forward button is clicked, it does not fire the Load event and the back button becomes disabled). Has anyone else encountered this and do you have a solution for it?
View 2 RepliesIf I'm on a searchable site (example.com for example) and search some data then get a dropdown list, when I click on one of the items, then try to use the browser's back button to go back, I get the error "the page cannot be displayed". Does this have something to do with cookies or history settings?
I don't have this problem with mozilla, but I prefer to use IE for other reasons.
