Web Forms :: Make Sure Hitting Enter On The Page In Any Other Text Box Doesn't Post Back To SearchPage.aspx?

Feb 28, 2010

I have a master page which includes a search textbox and a button which posts back to another page. The controls are defined as follows:

<asp:TextBox
ID="SearchTextBox"
runat="server"
style="margin-left:
0px"
Width="170px" />
<cc1:TextBoxWatermarkExtender
ID="SearchTextBox_TextBoxWatermarkExtender"
runat="server"
Enabled="True"
TargetControlID="SearchTextBox"
WatermarkCssClass="watermark"
WatermarkText="Search Name" />
<asp:Button
ID="SearchButton"
runat="server"
Text="Search"
PostBackUrl="~/SearchPage.aspx"/>

The problem is that for any other TextBox on the page which is using this MasterPage, for example the login page, if you type your user name and password and hit Enter, The page is redirected to the SearchPage. If you click on login buttton everything works fine. How do I make sure hitting enter on the page in any other text box does not post back to SearchPage.aspx?

ModalPopupExtender - Hitting Enter Key Activates A Button On The Page, Not The Popup?

Mar 23, 2010

I am having an odd issue where when I hit the 'enter' key, a button on my page (not on the Popup) is being activated. Consequently, it is firing a command that I do not want fired.Put another way, I have a ModalPopup with a 'TextBox', 'Image', and three buttons. I can click inside of the TextBox, begin typing, then hit 'enter', and for some reason it acts as though I am clicking on a button that is on my page, not on the Popup.

Hitting The Back Button Makes The Page Crash?

May 4, 2010

I have two pages, step0 and step1.

Users get firsly to the step0 page, where they fill some info, the page updates, they fill some more, and then get redirected to step1 page.

Problem is that upon getting to the Step1 page, if the user clicks on the back button, then he gets to the last stage of the step0 page, which uses sessions and variables that are no longer existing, what causes a crash.

I'm looking for an elegant way to make sure that with each page visit, the page will restart itself to start phase.

I have this idea maybe twitching the Page_Load function, something about the is_post method, but since each page's post back hits this function,

VS 2008 - Detecting Enter Key In Textbox With Java But Not Have Button Click

Sep 26, 2011

I am calling a javascript for a textbox when a key is pressed to check for the Enter key. It works for all other keys though. The problem is I have buttons on the page also and the first button is taking the Enter as a click. If I disable the buttons, it works with the Enter key but I need the buttons there.

Is there any way I can keep the buttons from accepting the Enter key in a textbox as a Click?

This is what I set in the Page_Load which works well. And the script is called.

Code:
Text1.Attributes.Add("onkeydown", "check_key(event)")

Web Forms :: Stop Users Users Using The Browser Back Button And Potentially Submitting An Old Version

Mar 25, 2011

I need to stop users users using the browser back button and potentially submitting an old version of a form.

I'm storing a guid in a session variable and also writing the value to a hidden form field and then checking the session value against the hidden field value if a user does try to navigate back and submit an old form.

If the form is submitted and the user wants to complete a new copy of the form then a new guid is generated both to the session and to the hidden form field. Now, if the user decides to hit the back button a few times to get the old form and tries to submit it again, the page checks the current guid in session against the guid stored in the form field and it finds a mismatch and prevents the form being submitted.

This works as expected in Chrome and Firefox, but in IE6, when the user hits the back button to view the old form, the new guid value appears in the hidden field of the old form! This means the user can submit the old form again, which we definitely do not want.

Trying To Let A User Enter The Name Of A Website In A Textbox And Click On A Button?

Feb 22, 2011

I'm trying to let a user enter the name of a website in a textbox and click on a button. When the button has been clicked the website URL should be sent to a method which will use a WebBrowser to navigate to the website and take a screenshot of it. Further it should afterwards grab this screenshot and generate a thumbnail of it.

... And the tricky part

The tricky thing is that according to MSDN the System.Drawing should not be used in neither Windows or ASP.NET services, which leaves me with 2 approaches:

Ignore the MSDN and implement the class which contains the necessary methods.

Create a WCF Service with the necessary methods.

VS 2008 Want To Give A Warning On BACK Button And REDIRECT To HOME PAGE?

Jan 22, 2010

I've got a HomePage.aspx page - user clicks "NEW PROJECT" and they get brought to the NewProject.aspx page.

While on this page they click CONTINUE buttons on the page that move you through 3 stages of CASE creation.

If they click BACK - the BROWSER BACK button - I want to pop up a warning.

Quote:

Going back will return you to the client homepage, and all data entered for this project will be lost. Do you wish to proceed?

If they click NO they return to where they just were - as if they did not click BACK.

Is this possible?

If not - can I make BACK just return to the HomePage.aspx - as if all the NewProject.aspx postbacks were not new page entries in the BROWSER history.

Flickr does something like that. When you click on the "in the last minute" link and see recent photos - then click reload several times - each of those reloads does not go into BROWSER BACK history. If you click BACK you are back onto the initial [URL] home page.

Web Forms :: A User Hits The Enter Key, Can That Act As Clicking A Submit Button On A Webpage?

Aug 3, 2010

I have a web page, with three buttons which allow a user to cancel, save & exit, or save & continue. to assign the Save & Continue button the ability to accept the Enter key as being equal to it being clicked? Thought this might make it faster for data entry, so they can keep hands on keyboard, and just hit enter, instead of having to use mouse to click save & continue.

C# - Sharepoint Connected Web Parts / User To Be Able To Enter A Value In The Textbox And Click A Button To Update?

Jun 8, 2010

I have one web part (the provider) which displays insurance claims in a gridview. When user clicks on one this value(case number) is passed via IWebPartField interface to another web part(consumer) which displays detailed info about the claim. So far so good. I can select different claims in the provider and the details show up in the consumer just fine. The moment I add a TextBox to the consumer, the consumer no longer recognizes the case number passed. I need the user to be able to enter a value in the textbox and click a button to update that claim info. I can debug and attach to process and it looks like it is getting the case in the callback function, etc, but when it is setting parameters for the stored proc in CreateChildControls, it is null. Comment out the TextBox and it works fine.

C# - .NET: Button In User Control Not Posting Back?

Apr 23, 2010

I have a simple user control with this code:

<%@ Control Language="C#" AutoEventWireup="true" CodeFile="Pager.ascx.cs" Inherits="Pager" %>
<table style="width: 100%;">
<tr>[code]....

As you can see, the 2 buttons are wired to click events, which are defined correctly in the code-behind.Now, here is how I include an instance of the control on my page:

<uc:Pager ID="Pager1" runat="server" TotalRecords="100" DisplayItemsPerPage="true"
ItemsPerPageChoices="10,25,50,100" ItemsPerPageFormatString="Sessions/Page: {0}"
PageSize="25" OnPageChanged="PageChanged" OnPageSizeChanged="PageChanged" />

I noticed though, that the 2 buttons in my user control weren't causing a post back when clicked. The drop down list does cause postback, though. Here is the rendered HTML:

<table style="width: 100%;">
<tr>
<td id="ctl00_MainContent_Pager1_PageControls" align="left">[code]....

And, as you can see, there is no onclick attribute being rendered in the button's input elements. Why not?

EDIT,Ronnie, why are you so dumb??? <input type="submit" /> doesn't use javascript to post a form!
