View 1 RepliesI am trying to direct user to a error page when maximum fileupload size excedds.For this iam doing the following thing:

How should i do this.
I have finally got my paging code for a datalist to work correctly. However, the stored procedure I use receives a Parameter called 'name' which is a VarChar 4. I'm having a little trouble implementing the handling of the 'name' parameter in the following code. I receive the error [Procedure or function 'search' expects parameter '@name', which was not supplied.]
Private Sub DataBind()
Dim objConn As New SqlConnection(ConfigurationManager.ConnectionStrings("SQL2005_504887_2onetennisConnectionString").ConnectionString) [code]....
I think it will look something like the following but I'm not sure because this syntax doesn't look like it would work with my above code.
cmdTest.CommandType = Data.CommandType.StoredProcedure
cmdTest.Parameters.Add(New SqlParameter("@TestParam", Data.SqlDbType.VarChar, 10))
cmdTest.Parameters("@TestParam").Value = "Testing"
i need to check if some parameter exist in Request.Params any one know how to check that? dont use request.params["para"] != or "" i am not try to check if value exist, i need to check if the parameter himself exist before the checking if his not null or empty.

View 2 RepliesI have a ASP.NET MVC configuration, and I am building a reportgenerator. I am outputting a JQuery table, so that the user may sort and rearrange it, before fetching it as a PDF. My PDF component is .NET-based, and so I need to send the modified table back to the server via AJAX.
The problem is that the URI can get as large as 100k characters, making the server respond with a status of 414 (Request-URI Too Long). It seems that IIS does not allow URIs greater than some few thousand characters.
I admit that it seems strange to compose a URL that big, so I think I might be missing something. Is there another way to post the data to the server, or maybe possible to solve this in another way?
I just got a new desktop computer with Windows 7 Pro as the operating system. I installed Visual Studio 2008 on to this new computer and tried to open a previously existing ASP.NET 3.5 solution that displayed perfectly fine on my previous computer (this previous computer used the Windows XP operating system, IIS6, and IE7 browser). However, in Windows7/IE8, I'm receiving the following error:
Server Error in '/' Application.
Parser Error Description: An error occurred during the parsing of a resource required to service this request. Please review the following specific parse error details and modify your source file appropriately.
Parser Error Message: The file '/MasterPages/MainMaster.master' does not exist.
Source Error: Line 1: <%@ Page Language="C#"
AutoEventWireup="true"
CodeFile="default.aspx.cs"[code]....
when I tell you that the file '/MasterPages/MainMaster.master' file does, in fact, exist. In addition, this file's location is properly referenced in the code (as indicated in Line 1 above), and as I said, was displayed properly by the browser in my previous computer. It might also be helpful to note that I've tried to navigate to other pages in this site, and this browser displays the same message for any and all master pages located in my MasterPages folder. In summary, for some reason the browser cannot see any pages in the MasterPages folder. Can anybody tell me why I'm getting this error message when the folder and file is exactly where default.aspx says it is?
I am getting error while click on tweet error is"{"The remote server returned an error: (401) Unauthorized."} ....

I have a route defined as:
routes.MapRoute("AllUsers",
"Users/Search/{Search}", new {
Controller = "Users", action=
"Index"});
and the form as:
<% using (Html.BeginForm("Index", "Users/Search/", new { RouteValue = "AllUsers" }, FormMethod.Get, new { id = "searchForm" })){%>
<input id="searchBox" name="search" type="text" />
<input type="submit" id="submit" value="Search" /><%} %>
Currently as expected this creates a url of ../Users/Search/?search=searchTerm but what I would like is: ../Users/Search/searchTerm . I thought of using javascript, but this seems a little dirty. Is there a more streamlined way of accomplishing this?
Im working on my Dissertation and am seriously stuck. Im creating a blogging site with the ability to log in, this will also include the ability to search for projects etc. (created in Visual Studio in VB)
There are different roles: Student, admin, tutor. the table is made up of 2 tables aspnetdb.mdf and blogging.accdb; the first was created by visual studio and the later is mine that contains the projects, bloggs etc.
I want to use the asp:loginName in a search that is sourcing its data from the blogging database, Iv tried for days to do it myself, by trying to write an inner join manually, using its full name etc but keep coming up against a brick wall.
We have 2 tables that i need to search thru..we are trying to be as flexible as possible with this search page.. a very stripped down version of how search engines are setup..
You have 1 textbox and are free to enter what ever you want..
Well in our case.. we want to setup a textbox on the page.. and pass that into our procedure and have it look thru 5 differnet columns ( id, date, name, time, number )
So if i enter say 1974 into the field, i want to go find any record that contains that in any of the 5 columns..
Is this possible without using SQL Full text indexing??
I would like a site that offers the users the possibility to search over 2 datasources but as i tried to indicate in the subject title the searches are one after another where the result of search 1 is used as a parameter for searching the second datasource. The order of the search would depend for what you search (ideally). Some "fields" or "data" of course appear in both datasources.
To get more specific: datasource 1 contains chemical structures and the associated "id" for this structure + additonal properties. You can search for chemical structures here. (chemically intelligent system). datasource 2 contains documents which are indexed (full text) and have metadata fields one of them beeing above id. No chemical search possible.
The idea is now that i perform a search by chemical structure on datasource 1. As as a result I get a list of id's. These id's are then past into datasource 2 as parameter + also all additionaly parameters entered. There are API's available to perform above searches on the 2 datasources. Is this a reasonable approach? Would it be better to create somekind of a simple datawarehouse, eg a table with all numbers linked to all documents they appear in? (would't know how to achievie this actually since it's the 2 datasoruces are not the same rdbms).
I am trying to get gridview populated on the basis of Date as a search parameter.Date Textbox is taking date as MM-dd-yyyy.Date format in table is dd/MM/yyyy HH:mm:ss.The problem is that when I give date for example 30-04-2010, the data is not populating to gridview as the date in the table is 30/04/2010 12:00:00 .Actually I want to know query.
View 5 Repliesi have been learning asp.net 3.5 and i have ? if someone could help me out
i have a datagridview using a sql database and using textbox lastname
i have been trying to setup a second textbox for first name
what im trying to acomplish is being able to populate the gridview if only one textbox has a name in it
it works fine if i put in a first name in textbox1 and a lastname in texbox2 if i leave one textbox empty it want populate nothing.
I have a simple query
SELECT Number, CASE WHEN Num1 = @Num1 THEN 1 ELSE 0 END AS Occurences
FROM LotteryNumbersTX
The CLR type does not exist or you do not have permissionto access it
Num1 is a integer field. The parameter @Num1 is 01 or 02 etc
How do I correct this error?
If I replace @Num1 with 1 it works, no error!?
I am working on my CMS project based on ASP.Net MVC2, I have implemented my VirtualPathProvider and VirtualFile for my master page, to use a master page in db.
It works as below:
I indicate the MasterPageFile in the aspx/ascx file.
<%@ Page MasterPageFile="/Content.master"
Then override VirtualPathProvider.GetFile to load the master page from db, "/Content.master" is the key to search in the db.
Everything works fine for me, except
IF I click "Build Web Site" in the context menu in VS2010, I will get an error says "The file '/Content.master' does not exist."
My master page is stored in db and this error is normal, Is there a way that VS2010 can ignore this error?
I am looking into the BuildManager relative code, seems complicated.
THere is one page on my site that I am unable to page. When I attempt to page it I get the following error below:
404 - File or directory not found.
The resource you are looking for might have been removed, had its name changed, or is temporarily unavailable.
I checked everything, yet I am unable to page the page. I am working on windows server 2008/ iis 7.
I ask if i can use static variables in my web application, what are the alternatives to (static)? when i use static variable in specific page and more than one user use the application , it make conflict data(incorrect data).what are the limits of static members using?are static members are shared in memory?
View 3 RepliesI have a requirement that the user wishes to be able to scroll through as many as 4000 records in a dataset on the screen. The average number is around 500 records in the dataset, and there are 12 columns of data in each record. I am using a repeater to do the binding of the data, no problem.
Around 500 the system performance is fine. The actual data binding is taking about 2 seconds and the screen painting is taking about 10 seconds depedning on the time of day (other internet usage within the company bogging down the pipeline).
However, when I try to do 2300 records, the performance is abysmal. The binding time is acceptable, but the screen painting is SO slow. Essentially a 11mb web page is generated.This seems like an awful lot of data to me for a web page.
1) Is this normal to have a web page served up that is that big? We're talking text, not photos.
2) Is there a limit on the number of records that a repeater can work with? Obviously I can throw as many records as I want, so I am looking at a practical limit vs an actual limit.
3) I notice when I throw a drop-down into the repeater, the time lag is even greater. Is this because of the need to render the drop down?
I have tried to convince the user that they should use paging instead, but they are insisting on using scrolling. I get why scrolling would be good, but I am concerned that the performance is hideous above a certain threshold and I don;t think I can make it render the page without throwing a significant network speed upgarde and dedicated line for the website.
I created a PageLoad event, so when the page opens it fills all the fields from a DataSource control. However, the problem is that if the DataSource control is empty (the row does not exist yet) it gives me an error. How do I check that if DataSource Control has a row of data or not?
