Suppose i have String like this "hgh343", "kjk98". Is there any Function available in .NET that will find the numbers present in the String ? i.e., from first string 343 and from second 98 will be returned.
I have an ObjectDataSource that I want to perform updates using a business entity i.e. Type="Object"). Since the values for the entity are within a user control, I have stored a reference to the control in Session and in the updating event, set the new instance to the value of the entity from the user contol property (which also pulls values from the form viaother properties of the control):
Protected Sub MasterDataSource_Updating(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As System.Web.UI.WebControls.ObjectDataSourceMethodEventArgs) Handles MasterDataSource.Updating Dim entity As New Login() Dim accountControl As AccountInfo = TryCast(Session("AccountCtrl"), AccountInfo) entity = accountControl.Entity e.InputParameters.Add("entity", entity) End Sub
My question is, how can I get the update method to pass this entity to the update method in my BLL class? It seems the Update method requires an ID or reference to the original object to use in determining whether any changes have taken place, but I don't really want to do this. In other words, I just want to use the Update event on my ObjectDataSource to pass my entity to the method ("Update") I set as a property and then let this business method handle the update of the data. Shown below, is the BLL update method I want to call:
Public Overloads Function Update(ByVal entity As Login) If entity Is Nothing Then Throw New ArgumentNullException("entity") End If MyBase.Update("UpdateLogin", entity.Username, entity.Password, entity.FirstName, entity.LastName, entity.Role, entity.Region, _ entity.Email, entity.Title, entity.TierID, entity.Street, entity.City, entity.State, entity.Zip, entity.Mobile, entity.Phone, entity.Fax) End Function
When I try to call this as it stands now, I get an error: ObjectDataSource 'MasterDataSource' could not find a non-generic method 'Update' that has parameters: ID, entity. Previously, I'd set up a long list of parameters of basic data types (string, int, boolean), but this is rather cumbersome and I was hoping to use an entity for this (FYI, I also got the same type of error when I tried this approach, but with the ID as the last parameter in the list). Perhaps what I'm doing here is atypical to how the ODS is normally used?? Has anyone done something like this successfully?
Is there a quick way to determine if a method call will run under medium trust? In this scenario, I'm specifically wanting to know about trust-level requirements for .NET Framework methods.
I'm new to LINQ and EF and I seem to be having trouble working this out.
I have a many-to-many relationship between my Location and Region tables. When adding or editing a Location, my interface allows the user to check any number of related Regions. If they click OK, I need to add any new relationships that were checked, and delete any existing relationships that have been unchecked. My basic code is shown below.
However, this code doesn't work. Lower down, the line location.Regions.Contains(region) returns false even when the location already is related to the region. The issue appears to be because the region is from my populated listbox that was initialized earlier and is no longer part of the current EF context. But if I try and add it, I get an error that there is already a Region with that ID.
It seems like what I want to do is change this line to something like location.Regions.Contains((r) => r.RgnID == region.RgnID) so I'm only testing for a particular ID. But this gives me the error "Cannot convert lambda expression to type 'TrailCalendar.Region' because it is not a delegate type."
I don't understand this error but, either way, I'm not sure how I can test if the relationship already exists without reloading a bunch of data, which I'd like to avoid.
I'm developing an sms application in c#. The service that I use to send a message only allows characters form the 7 bit alphabet. I'm looking for a way to check if a message only contains characters from this alphabet.
My first idea was to split the message into a character array and then loop these characters and compare them to the alphabet. But I bet there is a much better.
var listOfStrings = new List<string>{"Cars", "Trucks", "Boats"};
and I have a vehicles options which has a Name field.I want to find the vehicles where the name matches one of the items in the listOfStrings.I'm trying to do this with linq but can't seem to finish it at the moment.
var matchingVehicles = Vehicles.Where(v => v.Name == one of the listOfStringItem)
i created an asp.net "web application" in VS 2008, building on .NET 2.0 framework. i have a form page with a code behind file. the form is very basic: a table with some text boxes and radio buttons. here is a piece of the form:
I have a db connection string 'ApplicationServices' defined in the connectionString section of web.config and 3 Entity Framework connection strings which have the provider connection string attribute with the same connection string as the one in 'ApplicationServices'. Is there a way to reference connectionString in 'ApplicationServices' for the provider connection string attribute of the EF connection string in the web.config, rather than providing the connection string all over again?
Consider the following code, adding 2 textboxes with the same ID (oops):
protected void Page_Load(object sender, EventArgs e) { string TextBoxName = "TextBox1"; Panel p = new Panel(); TextBox t = new TextBox(); t.ID = TextBoxName; p.Controls.Add(t); if (p.FindControl(TextBoxName) == null) // <-------******* { TextBox t2 = new TextBox(); t2.ID = TextBoxName; p.Controls.Add(t2); } Page.Form.Controls.Add(p); }
The code is designed to stop adding the same ID twice. However, the Panel.FindControl() method is not finding a control that was added in the previous line of code.
Am I using this in the wrong way?
I mean - sure - I could manually iterate through the controls in the next level, like:
string TextBoxName = "TextBox1"; Panel p = new Panel(); TextBox t = new TextBox(); t.ID = TextBoxName; p.Controls.Add(t); TextBox t2 = new TextBox(); t2.ID = TextBoxName; bool duplicateFound = false; foreach( Control c in p.Controls ) { if(c.ID == TextBoxName) { duplicateFound = true; break; } } if( duplicateFound ) { t2.ID = TextBoxName + "__0"; p.Controls.Add(t2); }
But I don't understand why this isn't working, whereas Placeholder controls and UserControls work fine.
The reason I am using Panels is for CSS styling. body > div > input - but still - it isn't working.
Now this works fine but I really want to just have the one parameter of role and not require the page to pass itself into the method. Is there a way of finding the object that called the method and casting it to a System.Web.UI.Page?
We're developing a business ASP.NET application. Is it better to pass an entire entity to a method or pass each property of this entity as parameters? What is the best practice?
Case 1. Pass Customer entity to a manager - InsertCustomer(Customer cust) Case 2. Pass each property as a parameter - InsertCustomer(string name, string address...etc)
What i need to do: When i click button on my .aspx page WCF service should be called, which should return data from ADO.NET entity data model. Entity data model and webservice is already added. I just have to write a method which will return data from data entity.
I'm currently working on this application that records a users email.
I was wondering if there was a function that would read the last 7 digits of the inputted user email and store it in a variable? Is there any way to do this?
I created a method in my class which will determine if an input is a numeric value or not.
Code:
[URL]
And even I input a numeric value in my entry, still I get the error message "Invalid entry". Can anyone from this community have an idea on how am I going to solve this issue.
I use ASP.NET MVC with Entity Framework. I have an Edit method in my Controller. It takes an entity object which was created by a HTML form:
[Code]....
Where Page is my entity object. However, the manually changed property (newPage.LastModified) is not recognized when updating the model. I am aware that I somehow have to connect the entity object to the Entity Framework, but how to do this?
I'm an ASP.NET newbie, but not so new at programming in general.
I'm creating a commercial website, and I want to allow an admin to add new articles (an article consists of text, images and various properties such as category).
I am trying to decide the optimal Modus Operandi. This site is commercial, so SEO is a major consideration. This means that I want each url to be "unique". That is, if someone navigates to an article about raccoons, he should be redirected to [URL]. This means - I can't have one page that loads the appropriate article dynamically a-la AJAX (gotta use deep-linking)
So how exactly do I do this? suppose the admin entered his text, uploaded the images and set the article properties. I create a new subfolder, save the images to the server (I understand that saving images to a DB is a big no-no), their addresses in a DB, and the content itself to the DB. But now what?
How do I go about creating the actual page?
Is there a function for creating a new aspx file? then what about its corresponding cs file? Or is it unwise to use aspx? Maybe plain html? but then how does it work with my site's master page? Or maybe just create another copy of a general aspx file which is populated with an article according to a parameter?
in the client app, i want to handle SOAP exceptions thrown by web service. Currently, when exceptions are thrown by the web service, Detail.OuterXml property of SOAPException class shows below XML data. In code below, what's the correct method to reference namespace, values, etc to get to the error-code, error-field-name, error-message and error-description value?
I have tblRow table on the form and on Page Load I am generating HtmlTableRow, HtmlTableCell and HtmlInputText and adding it to the table. On the click of button Save I can get the HTMLInputText value by using the value it generates for its Name attribute, I get ctl06 when I do the View Source of the page.
I want to know is there any way through which I get the value through ID which I am assigning in the above case i.e. "txtTest".
