I have a databound dropdownlist and have a problem with the default value it selects.When I attempt to edit a record the dropdownlist shows the first value in the list rather than the current value. I want the dropdown list to display the current value.
I'm sure this is very simple but I'm very new to ASP.NET.
I'm using .NET version 4.
I have a simple databound dropdownlist. On top, I have a default selection, '--Please Select--', followed by another default selection, '-- Other --'. Here's the script:

Now, my user wants the '--other--' selection to appear on the BOTTOM of the dropdown as opposed to right sfter '--Please select--'. How do I accomplish this?

I want the gridview control to display 2 dropdown list one in read-only mode and the other in edit mode. When a record is in read-only mode, the dropdownlist's enabled property will be set to false."When it's on a read-only mode, it doesn't display the selected Category. it shows but the "No Category". When i click on edit to edit or change category, it doesn't display the selected category.

Setting up the editItem template of a gridview. I have a template field with a dropdown list for editing. When the gridview goes into edit mode the dropdown list is displayed with all the right options but the current value of the field (pre-editing) is not the selected value of the dropdown list? How do I make that happen? I have a couple fields where the editItem template will use a dropdown list and I'm sure a user will not realize those values have changed and they will just edit what they intended to edit and save the changes, inadvertently also making changes to other fields.

The drop down has a DataTextField set to a project name and the DataValueField set to the project id (interger). Later I change the dropdowlist selected item with this code in the selectedindexchanged event of a gridview

Does Changing the drop down list with this code cause the DataValueField property to change to the correct Project ID number also? If not is there a better way to do this? actually this code seems to be adding an additional item to the list so that the project i set with this code is listed twice so I don't think my code is correct

In that page i will have a drop down with the same values in the previous form . if a user unchecks some item and clicks the save button. then the selectedindexchanged will fire and i will do some logic.

I have a master page which has an unordered list in this way:

These links are directed to my content pages. I am able to highligt the selected list item on hover and on active.
But I do not understand how I can highlight the selected list item as long as the user is on that specific page/link (current list item). I know that we can specify a seperate body tag and id for each of the content pages and then use CSS to highlight the current list item, but all this code rests already inside a body tag in the master page.

View 2 RepliesI got one web page which is developed by using Asp.net. and in that page I have got one tab control which developed by using Ajax control toolkit (tab container). In that tab container i have got three tab pannels. In the first tab pannel have got two drop down list boxes and one image control box. wat I was trying to do is that by using calendar extender control in ajax control toolkit i was trying to display a day in the first drop down list box and month and year in second drop down list box. when user click on image control during run time a small calender will pops up and then user will select the propective date according to there choice and when they have finish selecting the date from the calender a day will display on first drop down list box and month and year will display on second drop down list box.
I was keep trying to do that but i was failed. then i took one test box from the toolbox and i was got success in displaying the user selected date in the text box by using ajax calender extender. How to display that date instead of one textbox into two separate drop down list boxes from which a user can select manual date from drop down list as well and from the calendar as well also when the page loads, the two drop down list boxes must show current date ( by default)
Clicking the label of a drop down list, re-sets the selected value to the first item in the list. This has a history of causing data entry problems when users accidently click on the label.
In the below example ddlContactType has a selected value as 'PRIMARY' and whenever i click on the lblContactType Text, the dropdown box Selected value is changing to "Select One" Text.
How to prevent this one. It should be on PRIMARY Only.

View 10 RepliesI have 2 drop down lists.I have a very simple dropdown list #1 that diplays a title and holds an id value which is a GUID.I know it is getting this value and sending this value as I tested sending it to a label.I have the dropdown list #1 to autopostback to dropdown list #2 that "Is supposed to get" another title and value based on the GUID value of the first dropdown list. for some reason it wont return anything. I have done 100's of these but never based off a guid value.I assume the value needs to be converted to guid before selecting it in the second dropdown list.How can I do this? or is there something I am missing?

should be remained and the new repeater list should be appended to the bottom of the currently displayed list.
And the 'Read More' Button should now be located below the newly created repeater list and it can be clicked again and the process above continues.

I have a database with some data in. Now I'm trying to show that data on my page whit a ListView.
For each object from the database a ListView will generate a dropdownlist.
I also have a DataPager on my page and this is where the problem occurs.
Each object generated from the database has a field that may look like this example.: 1,2,3.
In my code now I´m trying to split this string of comma character and add new items to my dropdownlist.
This works as long as I do not have DataPager on. But if I choose to view an x number of pages at the time when the page loads, I have value in the dropdownlists, only on my first page.
