Forms Data Controls :: Datagrid - Displaying Specific Columns As A Dropdown

I have a datagrid which displays a list of user data, such as name, his or her status, age. I have created a list of rows of user data but where the column shows status for example Single, Married, i want it to create a dropdown list where i can easily change the user status by selecting it from a dropdown and clicking the update button at the top of the datagrid. The update button will update all records that have been changed not just from the dropdown. I assume the dropdownlist requires a columnbinding event but i can't find any straight forward tutorials.

is it possible to disable sorting on specific columns? 5 out of 7 columns have to be sortable, two not sortable. The columns are created dynamically in code behind, so I think doing this with mark up is out of the question. When I say disabled, I'm hoping that the underline wont show on the column header when you mouse over it.

I have a site which displays data form a MSAccess 2003 database in a DataGrid. For simplicity sake the data is products ie an ID, Name, Description and a value representing the amount in stock.I want to allow the user to update the stock field via the datagrid but not be able to change any of the other fields. I have a page in my web app that is aquiring an aggregate of data from my SQL Server. What I want to do is display that content into categorized columns in a DataGrid based on the ID number of the record. Each category would have a category name (header) and have listed underneath the subject with the NavigateURL pointing to another page to display the full content.
For instance:
Category1

Grocery Stores (ID:100)
Hobby Shops (ID:101)
Furniture Stores(ID:102)

Call mom (ID:200)

how to seperate the topics based on the ID like in the above example from one query. I'm using one query to reduce the amount of connections to the SQL Server in hopes of making it more efficient.

I'm trying dynamically to change the HeaderText of one of my DataGrid's columns but have some problem.
I'm making the change on button click event.
At the first click nothing happened, but at the second click the change is made correctly.

My question is how to freeze specifi columns of Gridview control ? Freeze means...for example say if we are freezing the first column of grid then on scrolling a horizontal scroll bar of the grid will scroll all columns other than the first column. That means the first column will be visible always without any movement. But the first column should move if we use the vertical scroll bar.

I put in my page 1 table like grid with this style:
header of columns are select from table persons(so number of them are dynamic)
header of each row are select from table goods(so number of them are dynamic)
in table , in each cell,show the price & the date ,that this person,buy this goods
for example,in may 2008 ,Jack&sara buy pencil.so in front of pencil&buttom of jack we write his price and in front of pencil&buttom of sara we write her price.

I am stuck at this point "Displaying a dropdown list of Categories with a --None -- Option. I want the gridview control to display 2 dropdown list one in read-only mode and the other in edit mode. When a record is in read-only mode, the dropdownlist's enabled property will be set to false."When it's on a read-only mode, it doesn't display the selected Category. it shows but the "No Category". When i click on edit to edit or change category, it doesn't display the selected category.

I have a DataGrid which gets populated from a Dataset. One of the columns is of type DateTime. The stored proc returns the data correctly. I mean, It returns both the Date and Time. But, the datagrid is displaying only the date and not the time.

I have a series of record IDs in an array that I pass to a DataGrid for Data Binding I want to show the details of each record ID in every row of the datagrid, for example I can put a detailsview in the itemtemplate of the datagrid and use an objectdatasource's select method for retrieving the information for a specific record ID but how to pass these record IDs to objectdatasource? is this a correct example and how can I implement this?

I have come across an issue with my DataGrid loading several drop downs. The idea is I initially wanted it to load the drop down on the OnClick event of my DataGrid, however I realised there is no OnClick event (I come from a windows form development environment). Considering the time it may take to load this drop down may be extensive (which is why I wanted this drop down to be loaded individually, only when user clicks it) I came up with another idea of wrapping the Grid in an ASP Update Panel so I load all the drop downs in the PageLoad() event.
My question is, is this the correct thing to do? If I am loading 100 drop downs wouldn't it be better to load the drop down objects indivdually as opposed to all at the same time? How do I load a drop down based on the OnClick event of a DataGrid?
Tried using the OnSelectedIndexChanged() event but doesn't seem to fire the event after I click on the row. Ideally I want something like when the user clicks on a row, I want to load the drop down associated with that row. Is this possible?

Alternatively I could just give them the link to google maps into which they can click on and open a new browser window...

I have a datagrid which pulls data from a single database table to display it. However, this database table also contains information on the thumbnail URL for each record, and I would like to display the thumbnails for each record in the 1st column of the datagrid.
At present I have added the following to my datagrid:

Here is the situation:I have a Datagrid which is going to display a number of rows. I want to click a button on the datagrid and have the following occur
open a row underneath the row clicked, without hiding or replacing that row Open this row so that it spans all of the columns as one continuous row where i can put form fields and/or just data formatted as I would like and not just in columns.Be able to close that new row.
