I have a GridView where I have a ItemTemplate and where I have set 5 rows to with a buttoncontrol on each row.What I am trying to do is in the _Click event of the button, detect which rowIndex this button was clicked on but are not sure what I am missing in this code ?

I can get a certain set of rows of gvAlternate only by referencing which gvAlternate control set I want to access: this is based on the gvMaster.Rows and then using the FindControl and id name:

Therefore, it is true that a set of rows in a nested gridview is tied to a specific row in its master gridview, the question is does the child gridview know which set it's connected to or does it's master know if a childset has been selected?

I have a two gridviews that I populate it through some tables from a database.
In the same page I have a ASP:Button with onclick event.
When click is perform I wish to write a code that compares the old values of both gridviews (that retrieved from database), with the new values, and if changes were made then create the changes in the database.
I think that the best way is to loop every gridview sepertly, and compares it with the values in the database
How do I do that? Do you have a sample code that loops on gridview and compares with the old values to detect changes?

I want to click this first column and show a panel to enter notes for the customer on that row. Then submit it. Is it complicated to do this? Or would I need to do a postback when clicking the row and use another form for this? They want a panel on the grid to show for notes. I have a gridview. The fields are displayed in table in itemtemplate. Each row has a unique id called UserId.There is a linkbutton for Editing in each row.
When the Edit linkbutton is clicked, I need to get the details in that row to another page. Is this done using querystring.

It basically is 4 questions with each answer assigned a value.
What I would like to do is when the button is clicked the selected values are retrieved and calculated to give a total.
That total is then compared against some common totals and the next value is shown.
So is the total is 8= Very Good, 6= Very Bad, 4= Terrible etc.
The two labels Result and Truth would sho the numerical result and the truth according to the scale.
I am at a loss on how to retrieve the list button clicked value, how to add them up and referance that to the Truth result.
