My dropdown list is populated by a group of names inalphabetical order.

i want data to drop down list using stored procedure .
However im not able to do that.
I have a DropDownList populated with a SQL Stored Procedure. On the page, there is also a button that when pressed, processes the contents of the dropdownlist. I would then like the dropdownlist to automatically remove the selection, and if there is nothing left in the dropdownlist, I would also like the button to be disabled.
View 5 RepliesI have one repeater on page which has his own sql data source. I've placed 2 dropdown lists on the page. The repeater has jQuery DataTable plugin. With 2 dropdownlist I wish to change the sql stored procedures so when each will be selected the data in repeater will change. When user select the first there will be only data (users) according to selected item and in the second the same. I wrote 2 simple functions for changing stored procedure of repeater and rebiding it. Everything works but when I try the second one and then the first I always get warning about error "Procedure or function .... has too many arguments specified".
I think that when I select the first one the second function is still called although I don't call it.

I am stuck at this point "Displaying a dropdown list of Categories with a --None -- Option. I want the gridview control to display 2 dropdown list one in read-only mode and the other in edit mode. When a record is in read-only mode, the dropdownlist's enabled property will be set to false."When it's on a read-only mode, it doesn't display the selected Category. it shows but the "No Category". When i click on edit to edit or change category, it doesn't display the selected category.
The example is given below( I am reading the book Sams Teach yourself ASP.NET 2.0 by Scott Mitchell. page 628)

I am trying to populate a dropdown from a stored procedure that includes parameters. The parameters are programmatically defined variables. I have been working at this for hours, and scoured the internet for a tutorial. I have come up with the following solution below. However, it does not work. Its not pulling any data, and I am not even sure that the page is making it into the GetLast5Schedules_Selecting Event. There has to be a more efficient/less time consuming way to do this!

Initially, I have tried to use stored procedure. But I changed my mind and preferred to call sql query in codebase with command text. However, it stills tries to find initially-called stored procedure (which is neither called or exists).I think that it is related caching. But I tried it with different browsers it did not work. What might be the reason?
View 4 RepliesI am going to add a computed column to a stored procedure that will combine the last and first names of all of the customers in my db. This will be used to populate a drop down list that will allow the user to select a customer so a new record can be entered for that customer.
I was planning on creating this computed column on the procedure that returns all of the customers and all of there information. My db is small so this shouldn't be a big deal, as far as overhead. This doesn't seem like the best approach if the app was using a much larger db. It would unnecessarily return a lot of extra data and make it slower.
I'm curios when a procedure that's dedicated to returning just the customer's first name, last name, and ID should be used, instead of one that returns everything. There are a number of variables that could make this hard to determine, such as number of rows and columns. I wanted to try to get an idea of a cut off point or rule of thumb on this, if possible.
Does anybody if it is possible that a stored procedure returns rows which is the result of the execution of another sp? Something like..

Does anyone have an example of using MSChart with a stored procedure? I have a chart control on the web page and have bound it to the stored procedure. I have also set the parameters for the stored procedure. However nothing shows in the chart. All the examples I can find only show adding points one at a time, but this seems to defeat the purpose of binding the chart to the stored procedure.
Some of the problems I am trying to solve:
The stored procedure returns about 6 columns of data. I only need to use two of them. How do I select which of the columns will be displayed in the chart?
I want to use two or more series on the chart. Do I have to run a separate stored procedure for each series or can I make one call to the stored procedure and then display the data in the two series? If so, how?
I am using VS 2008, MS SQL Server 2008, .Net 3.5 and VB .Net.

I have dropdown1 that has some items in it.I also have dropdown2 that gets populated from a database based on whatever is selected from dropdown1.Dropdown2 has its first item as "Make Selection" and then appends the data from the db based on what was selected in dropdown1.
Now when I select an item from dropdown1 it puts the correct data in dropdown2 but as soon as I select another item from dropdown1 it appends those values into dropdown2. How can I remove the values from dropdown2 after a new item is selected from dropdown1?
