I'm using a book to create a shopping site and need to change the following code so that the current dropdown list, of colour options, is replaced by just read only text. I'm a novice and despite best efforts I can't fathom it out. If anyone can change the code for me I would be extremely grateful.
The code below is the code-behind page for a Product List page where I want each product displayed to also display its colour options as just text (I don't need the shopper to select a colour choice until they click through to the detail page)
using System; using System.Collections.Generic; using System.Linq; using System.Web; using System.Web.UI; using System.Web.UI.WebControls; using System.Data; public partial class UserControls_ProductsList : System.Web.UI.UserControl { protected void Page_Load(object sender, EventArgs e) { PopulateControls(); } private void PopulateControls() { // Retrieve DepartmentID from the query string string departmentId = Request.QueryString["DepartmentID"]; // Retrieve CategoryID from the query string string categoryId = Request.QueryString["CategoryID"]; // Retrieve Page from the query string string page = Request.QueryString["Page"]; if (page == null) page = "1"; // Retrieve Search string from query string string searchString = Request.QueryString["Search"]; // How many pages of products? int howManyPages = 1; // pager links format string firstPageUrl = ""; string pagerFormat = ""; // If performing a product search if (searchString != null) { // Retrieve AllWords from query string string allWords = Request.QueryString["AllWords"]; // Perform search list.DataSource = CatalogAccess.Search(searchString, allWords, page, out howManyPages); list.DataBind(); // Display pager firstPageUrl = Link.ToSearch(searchString, allWords.ToUpper() == "TRUE", "1"); pagerFormat = Link.ToSearch(searchString, allWords.ToUpper() == "TRUE", "{0}"); } // If browsing a category... else if (categoryId != null) { // Retrieve list of products in a category list.DataSource = CatalogAccess.GetProductsInCategory(categoryId, page, out howManyPages); list.DataBind(); // get first page url and pager format firstPageUrl = Link.ToCategory(departmentId, categoryId, "1"); pagerFormat = Link.ToCategory(departmentId, categoryId, "{0}"); } else if (departmentId != null) { // Retrieve list of products on department promotion list.DataSource = CatalogAccess.GetProductsOnDeptPromo (departmentId, page, out howManyPages); list.DataBind(); // get first page url and pager format firstPageUrl = Link.ToDepartment(departmentId, "1"); pagerFormat = Link.ToDepartment(departmentId, "{0}"); } else { // Retrieve list of products on catalog promotion list.DataSource = CatalogAccess.GetProductsOnFrontPromo(page, out howManyPages); list.DataBind(); // have the current page as integer int currentPage = Int32.Parse(page); } // Display pager controls topPager.Show(int.Parse(page), howManyPages, firstPageUrl, pagerFormat, false); bottomPager.Show(int.Parse(page), howManyPages, firstPageUrl, pagerFormat, true); } // Executed when each item of the list is bound to the data source protected void list_ItemDataBound(object sender, DataListItemEventArgs e) { // obtain the attributes of the product DataRowView dataRow = (DataRowView)e.Item.DataItem; string productId = dataRow["ProductID"].ToString(); DataTable attrTable = CatalogAccess.GetProductAttributes(productId); // get the attribute placeholder PlaceHolder attrPlaceHolder = (PlaceHolder)e.Item.FindControl("attrPlaceHolder"); // temp variables string prevAttributeName = ""; string attributeName, attributeValue, attributeValueId; // current DropDown for attribute values Label attributeNameLabel; DropDownList attributeValuesDropDown = new DropDownList(); // read the list of attributes foreach (DataRow r in attrTable.Rows) { // get attribute data attributeName = r["AttributeName"].ToString(); attributeValue = r["AttributeValue"].ToString(); attributeValueId = r["AttributeValueID"].ToString(); // if starting a new attribute (e.g. Color, Size) if (attributeName != prevAttributeName) { prevAttributeName = attributeName; attributeNameLabel = new Label(); attributeNameLabel.Text = attributeName + ": "; attributeValuesDropDown = new DropDownList(); attrPlaceHolder.Controls.Add(attributeNameLabel); attrPlaceHolder.Controls.Add(attributeValuesDropDown); } // add a new attribute value to the DropDownList attributeValuesDropDown.Items.Add(new ListItem(attributeValue, attributeValueId)); } } }
I've been trying to figure this one out for hours now. I'm trying to figure out why IE8 insists on displaying my gridview differently than IE7 and other browsers. First of all, width is set to 100%. In IE7, the gridview uses up the entire space of the container it's in (like it should). In IE8, the gridview only takes up the space that is required by its content
i have a dropdown with month names if the user has data for the month tht is selected then gridview displays the rows with day nos as per the month but if the gridview has no data for the same the dropdown or gridview via some event should call a insert procedure to insert data into the table for tht month with daynos ad rebind the gridview witht the rows just created
I have a gridview where i have two fields. one is product and second is sub category.
I need to do 2 things.
1. I need to populate the two combos from the database. But depending what is selected in dropdown 1 this will determine what needs to be populated in drop down 2?
i've gridview and sqldatasource bind,i got 2 field in gridview start date and end date, actual problem : both dates coming in format -11/4/2010 12:00:00AMi want 11-04-2010
I have data display in a gridview base on a dropdownlist. Basically, base on the downlist selection my gridview will be populated with the corresponding data. I have addresses and emails in the list. Where I am stuck and not sure how to do is export the emails to outlook for a mailmerge. For example, when the user clicks on button to send the emails in Outlook. The emails should be the ones that are display in the gridview. For the MS Word is to export the address to populate the the labels so the user can print out labels. Another button to send the address for the labels
I need to create a gridview to show in each row, some columns from the SQL Database, and in other columns I want to have text fields, buttons and DropDownLists!
This GridView is to display the users of the web application.
First columns are name, email, and other stuff that can be easly queried to the SQL database.
Then, I need to have a column with one text field, and some buttons, in the text field the AdminUser should be able to insert some text and then click in a button to change the email/pass from the user represented in that line.
The other field I need, is a DropDownList that shows by default the Role of the user of the row, but we can choose another role and apply it, with a button in the same cell!
If I create a code-Behind query and populate the GridView, I don't know how to insert textbox's, button's, DropDownList's
If I create the GridView with the wizard, I can had TemplateFields, but I don't know how to associate the query with the BoundFiels where should be the name/email of the users.
Other problem, is that, even If I get to construct my GridView with sucess, How can I reference the row? So I can apply the changes?
I am trying to apply the same logic I applied to a FormView. Here is what I do: I have a DropDownListBox as one of my FormView fields and when I choose a specific option the fields inside my FormView are enabled/disabled according to the options chosen.
Well I havent been able to apply that concept to a GridView. Here is my code to the FormView:
[Code]....
Is there a GridView mode enumeration? How do I achieve the same goal?
I have a drop down list with two options Score and status. On selecting score select score i display a MultihandleSliderExtender to select the score range ex: 10 to 20 and on selecting status i display dropdown list . On displaying one option i make the other as not visible.
Now comes the problem in Firefox (works properly in IE) when i select score and then try to change my option to status it does not allow me to do so i.e the mouse over event on the dropdownlist is not working.
How to insert images into database and how to retrive and bind images to gridview using ASP.NETÂ . After displaying gridview data i want to edit data with Image also using ASP.NET with Database.
I have a gridview with dropdown boxes. As soon as the complete gridview is databound, I want to loop through ALL the rows and set the values of the dropdown boxe in a row based on the value of another column in the same row. The gridview is databound, all data shows up. The condition "If ddl.Items(j).Value = searchstring Then" evaluates as true, but somehow the selected item in the dropdownbox is NOT changed and remains "<ignore>"
I have a bound dropdown list populated with a table of names through a select, and databinding. it shoots selectedindexchanged that (through a postback) updates a certain gridview. What happens is, since it runs from changing the index, the one that always comes selected (alexander) can only me chosen if you choose another one, then choose alexander. poor alexander. What I want is to put a blanc option at the beginning (default) and (if possible) a option as second.I can't add this option manually, since the binding wipes whatever was in the dropdown list and puts the content of the datasource.
I am populating a DataTable and binding it to a GridView's source.
I have a dropdown box in an itemtemplate in the gridview.
I want the dropdown to have 3 options and depending on what is in a column from row in datatable a specific value will be selected.
I was able to do this when I was binding gridview source by looping through SQL but now I that I am putting the results in a datatable I am not sure how to go about it.
I am trying to have a dropdown in a gridview. I dropdown will hold data from a column in a sql database table. So far, i have this code but when I test the page, the gridview is just pulling the data from the column and displaying it without the dropdown feature. In the code below, "label" is a field in the databaseI have tried to use the info in this walkthrough, but even this does not display the DropDown for me...so I might be doing something wrong.ttp://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms178294(VS.80).aspx
I have a GridView, with a DropDownList as one of the Columns. I can get the SelectedIndexChanged method to trigger - but I cannot figure out how to get other Data regarding which row this triggered on i.e. if I could get the value in the ID column (DocID below), that would be great. My code is a bit too long, so I am just posting snippets. In the *.aspx file I have:
[Code]....
In the *.aspx.cs File:
[Code]....
I am wondering if I can get the DocID from within StatusDropDownList_SelectedIndexChanged - so that I can make appropriate changes to the Database. For e.g. in the RowDataBound event, which I had a GridViewRowEventArgs e, I could easily do e.Row.DataItem - to get the DataItem, I am wondering if I get/do something similar in the SelectedIndexChanged method. (I would prefer this be not the GridView Row Index i.e. I would prefer the DataItem if possible.)
I have 2 drop downlists 1 gets the User hits my sql database and pulls back all my users in the database. I have post back on. The second drop down brings back all the account numbers for the user that is selected in the first drop downlist I have that post back on also.
My gridview then uses those 2 dropdownlists to populate for that user and that account number selected.
Now for the problem.
User Albert is in the drop down when page is loaded because its sorts by name the first account number for albert is in the 2nd drop down and the gridview works on page load for albert and account number 1 i can select account number 2 and the gridview changes.
I then switch user to Bill and it populates the 2nd drop down with Bill's account numbers however my gridview at this point is still showing alberts account information. I have to take drop down 2 and select another account say account 2 then my gridview displays bill's account 2 information i can then switch back to account 1 for bill and see that account information.
What do I need to do so that my gridview will populate when the first dropdown is changed to match the 2 new values?
I have a gridview that has a dropdown on a template on the row. The user is wanting to change the value and update the record automatically. I know that when the value changes, I need to have the OnChange to trigger. I am not sure how to get the row so I can get the record ID so I can create a SQL statement to update this field.
Should I be using something other than the gridview?
How do i set a data source of a drop down list which is inside a grid view, snap shot of asp code given below , the Asp file name is DataEntry.aspx and there is method in the DataEntry.aspx.cs called DTB.BindData("Department"). i want to set the datasource to point to this method
