Forms Data Controls :: Gridview Server - Column Data In The Details Section Does Not Line Up
Jan 5, 2010
I had problems with using the gridview. For example I can bind or a a row of data to the gidview but the column data in the details section does not line up appropriately as far as justification with the grid view headers. I have tried different alignment combinations but that does not work.

I have a ASP.NET gridview (embedded into a DIV) with several columns. For some columns line wraps are definied and for some not(with ItemStyle.Wrap = true/false). For all columns ItemStyle.Width is set to a specific value. Now I am wondering, that there is a line wrap in a column, where ItemStyle.Wrap = false. What could be the reason for that?

I have on a page a gridview that can be filtered with one text box. I set up the gridview to show select and wanted to then connect a details view so that when you selected a row the entire details would show up. When I run it I get this error. Data keys must be specified on GridView 'GridView1' before the selected data keys can be retrieved. Use the DataKeyNames property to specify data keys.

I have a DetailsView for inserting values and currently the columns are center aligned. What I want is to have my "label" right aligned and my "text box/dropdown box" left aligned.
Something like:
Name: _______________
Address: __________________________
Phone: __________
Insert Cancel
If I change the alignment to left for both, the Insert and Cancel buttons on the bottom of the control also shift to the left, and I'd like them to stay centered.

I have a GridView which is linked to the database via SqlDataSource.
What I would like to do is to make each row of a designated column clickable. Once the user has clicked on a row, the application should postback to another page to allow the user to read all the details of that row.
The effect should be as we can see in this post: if you go to "mypost", you have a list of posts and then when you click on one of them you are able to see the details of that.
I read lots of posts that are using, however, other methods such as datalist + dataset controls etc.

I'm trying to change one section in code from DataGrid format to GridView format. The reasoning is that the sample application that was displayed was using a DataGrid even though it should have been using a Gridview for 2.0 and above. Most of it shows up without an error except one line in 3 lines which are pretty much the same. I bolded them and just want to know how do I re-write them for the Gridview?

I have gridview template field with 5 columns like First Name, Middle Name, P.No and Last Name. The grid has a list of people with a blank row at the bottom of the grid (in the footer) that allows the user to add a newperson to the list. I have added textbox under fotter template. i need to add associated control id for footer template text box.I have been asked to make the grid section 508 compliant. The requirement is that the column headers must have labels that referencethe text boxes in the footer row. On a normal web form it would look like this:
<label for="txtFirstName">First Name</label>
<asp:textbox id="txtFirstName" runat="server" />
This allows a text reader to figure out that the words "First Name" are associated with the text box "txtFirstName" and helps a blind personunderstand how to fill out the form. Now, back to my problem. I need to figure out a way to get the header of a Grid view template column to work the same way. The biggest problem is that I have no idea what the ClientID of the textbox will be.

I'm trying to get a record to show up in a details view as part of a Master Details. I was able to get this to work by setting the visibility to true for the Details View in the Page Load event. I now want the details view to show up when the Select button is clicked in the GridView's template field using the onClick event for the button. I don't seem to be assigning the correct properties to get this to work though. what property I should use with this? I know I have to get it from the GridView and assign it to the details but haven't gotten it to work. this is the GridView:

I have a GridView with a select button. It get the data from a SQL database and everything is working fine. I'm new with ASP. I'm using a Data Set for the project. When the users select a row I need to show details of each row in a hidden panel with a table and labels to each field of the rows. The data of the details to show are in different tables. I already made the QUERIES with the JOIN to the different tables.
I was trying to fill the grid view with the specific query and fill the hidden panel at the same time so when the user click select the hidden panel appear with the data of the selected row. I put the hidden panel inside the grid view with a TemplateField and a ItemTemplate, but it doesn't work.

I have a vb.net page that has a editable detailsview. When a user wants to erase the data for a field, they highlight the data, and delete/backspace over it, and click update. However, the original data is still saved. If they are replacing the current data with new data, that works fine and updates/saves correctly. This problem only happens when the current data needs to be removed.
