Forms Data Controls :: How To Execute Jquery Function With Gidview Button Or From Server Side
Jan 19, 2011
How can I trigger a jQuery function with the Gridview Select button? I want that the select button trigger the jquery function that has the row details (it's already working with a asp:buttonfield ), and select the row so i can get the values and send it trough e-mail with another button. I don't know if this is possible. or, Can I trigger the jQuery function from code behind with the select button Sub? How?
[Code]....
This function capture the gridview cell values that are hidden and show them in a div outside the gridview (it works as row details). I have no problem with this.
[Code]....
All i need is a button that select the row index and/or values and trigger the jquery function . Or I can execute the jQuery function from server side. I don't know if it's posible.
I Getting A Problem In DataGrid's ItemDataBound Event. I Am Calling A JavaScript Function In DataGrid's ItemDataBound Which Retrun The CellIndex And RowIndex Number On Which UserClick After That I Am Re-Binding The DataGrid With jQuery Function After That ItemDataBound Event Not Working. I Want To Call The Same Function Again. Is Their Any Method To Call A Server-Side Function On ItemDataBound Event Except Client-Side Function..
I have a button where I use an Animation Extender. When I click the button I have to set OnClientClick="return false;" otherwise the Animation Extender closes. So that causes my problem. How do I execute server side code from this button? I have tried this code in my code behind, but there is an error:
Code: Dim strScript As String strScript = "<script>" strScript = strScript & "return false;" strScript = strScript & "</script>" ScriptManager.RegisterStartupScript(Me, GetType(Page), "MyScript", strScript, False) This is my code for the Animation Extender: Open data"></asp:Button>
I have an ASP.NET (3.5) web page which calls a few web methods (SOAP based) using jQuery's .ajax method. The web methods implement 'ScriptMethod' attribute and return JSON data. The web service file (asmx) is local to the same project.
I noticed these web methods execute synchronously on the server which means they run sequentially and affect performance negatively, some methods are waiting, when some of them are slow.
I read this article and I am not sure if I understand that WebMethods which implement Scriptmethod can run synchronously only (they implement IHttpHandler not IHttpAsyncHandler).
If this is true, I might have to change the design. I am looking for other designs, maybe like using WCF, where the browser can call webmethods using JavaScript and the web methods run asynchronously on the server.
I'm instantiating an asp:Button inside a data-bound asp:GridView through template fields. Some of the buttons are supposed to call a server-side function, but for some weird reason, it doesn't. All the buttons do when you click them is fire a postback to the current page, doing nothing, effectively just reloading the page.
Below is a fragment of the code:
[Code]....
The viewBtn above should call the viewBtnClick() function on server-side. I do have that function defined, along with a proper signature (object,EventArgs). One thing that may be of note is that this code is actually inside an ASCX, which is loaded in another ASCX, finally loaded into an ASPX.
There is a drop down list in the jquery ui modal form with id - drpAction. When the selection is changed I need to execute drpAction_SelectedIndexChanged function in the code behind. When I just try to invoke the function like onSelectedImdexChanged="drpAction_SelectedIndexChanged" ,the function is not fired.
I have 2 update panels where the server-side button (in a jQuery accordion) in the first update panel should update the second update panel. When the button is clicked, jQuery hides the accordion and displays a results div. This all works fine client side to be fair to IE. The server-side onclick event does not fire though in IE. In Firefox it does! The first update panel is displayed below, here the "btnGenerateReport" event should fire server side.
[Code]....
To add confusion ... if I comment out '$accordion.toggle($effect);' lines then the second update panel does get updated.I'm not sure what other information I can give here. I'm stumped as to why this works with Firefox and not IE.
I am using an update panel in my application. Inside the update panel i am trying to trigger a html button, which in turn should invoke a server side function after which i need to invoke a client side function. But the client side function is getting invoked first where as the server side function is not getting invoked at all.
I want to add multiple rows of a gridview if the data for multiple fields are same.Idea for this is that a user may search a record with some parameter e.g. Sector, plot. For example 15 records being displayed in gridview. There should be checkbox before every row and if user wants to update Plot and Flat No that is same for 10 rows out of 15 so he will check the rows and update. For this a dialog box should appear asking for the parameter i.e. Plot and Flat or something else next time may be it will be City or country. Moreover, there is already an Edit button to update records, when user click it another page open for the record to be updated and whatever he wants to update, it updates.
I have a page with some custom validation which displays a result in a validation summary. I would like to reposition this validation summary to the bottum of the page without causing the page to scroll with the length of the validation summary. I have a jQuery function which does this very nicely, however, I need to execute this jQuery after the validation summary is displayed and i'm not sure which event to trigger.
$(document).ready(function(){ $("#<%= vsmSummary.ClientID %>").change(function(){ var newTop = $(window).height() - $("#vsmSummary").height(); var newLeft = ($(window).width() - $("#vsmSummary").width()) / 2; $("#vsmSummary").css( { 'position': 'absolute', 'left': newLeft, 'top': newTop } ); }); }); In my custom validation method I build this string and register with the RadScriptManager... Dim scriptText As String = "$(document).ready(function(){ " + _ "$(""#<%= vsmSummary.ClientID %>"").ready(function(){" + _ "var newTop = $(window).height() - $(""#vsmSummary"").height();" + _ "var newLeft = ($(window).width() - $(""#vsmSummary"").width()) / 2;" + _ "$(""#vsmSummary"").css(" + _ "{" + _ "'position': 'absolute'," + _ "'left': newLeft," + _ "'top': newTop" + _ "}" + _ ");" + _ "});" + _ "});"
RadScriptManager.RegisterClientScriptBlock(Me.upSCPPage, Me.upSCPPage.GetType(), "DynamicVSM", scriptText, True) This works!! I had no clue that I could call this from my code behind!! I will be doing this much more in the future!
How could i call a javascript function in server side. I have to call the javascript function on the click of a linkbutton which inside a repeater control.
I have downloaded a jquery tool which creates overlay windows so here is the code which I want to trigger by calling a javascript function instead of a button or link.
The CSS
[Code]....
The HTML note the overlay is executing when i click the button i want this to be triggered on javascript function)
[Code]....
[Code]....
All i want to do is call a function lets say "ShowOverlay()" from my code behind using ClientRegisterScript() and it should do the same as it is doing on button.
How do I execute a function in JavaScript when a text box is populated with text? The text box with be hidden from the user. It will be populated by a USB magnetic card swiper.
Pseudo code:
<script language="javascript" type="text/javascript"> function MyFunction() { //execute this function when MyTxtBox is populated } </script> <asp:TextBox id="MyTxtBox" runat="server" Visible="false" />
Executing Server side code using Javascript. Here is the solution. In the Asp.net forums, I often see the question asked, "Can I call server-side code from the client/JavaScript?" Almost invariably, the responses given are "No, the client cannot access the server," or "You can only use WebMethods or PageMethods." The first response is not entirely correct, and unfortunately, WebMethods and PageMethods are static methods and therefore have no way to directly access the page. This is why I present to you the following "hack". I call it a hack because there really should be some way built into the ASP.NET AJAX Extensions that allow this approach directly. Instead, it relies on using controls in a manner that they aren't necessarily intended in order to obtain the desired result. But this "hack" does have a redeeming quality—it's incredibly easy. The Code:
<%@ Page Language="VB" AutoEventWireup="false" CodeFile="Default2.aspx.vb" Inherits="Default2" %> <!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Transitional//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-transitional.dtd">
I have a gridview control with delete asp:ImageButton for each row of the grid. What I would like is for a jquery dialog to pop up when a user clicks the delete button to ask if they are sure they want to delete it. So far I have the dialog coming up just fine, Ive got buttons on that dialog and I can make the buttons call server side methods but its getting the dialog to know the ID of the row that the user has selected and then passing that to the server side code. The button in the page row is currently just an 'a' tag with the id 'dialog_link'. The jquery on the page looks like this:
The dialog itself is just a set of 'div' tags. Ive thought of lots of different ways of doing this (parameter passing, session variable etc...) but cant figure out how to get any of them working.Any ideas are most welcome
How do I execute an JavaScript function right when an ASP.NET text box control is populated and focus is still set? The onChange event will not work because I need to programmatically move focus to the next form element after the JavaScript function has executed.
Is is very similar to this question. The marked answer is correct for the context on the question, but after some more testing it did not exactly solve my current issue.
Is it possible to execute two or more client side functions with a single button click? (I have written 3 functions in my .aspx page and need to validate on client side)
send me sample code with 3 client side functions using single button click.
i am using asp.net and following code to submit form on enter key press it is working but only refreshing same page and not calling button click event in server side code and without saving data it is comming back to same form, even without the jquery code again same thing happening don't know why but in some forms enter key press working fine and saving data without even following jquery code.
