Jquery Dialog Calls A Server Side Method With Button Parameters?

May 27, 2010

I have a gridview control with delete asp:ImageButton for each row of the grid. What I would like is for a jquery dialog to pop up when a user clicks the delete button to ask if they are sure they want to delete it.
So far I have the dialog coming up just fine, Ive got buttons on that dialog and I can make the buttons call server side methods but its getting the dialog to know the ID of the row that the user has selected and then passing that to the server side code. The button in the page row is currently just an 'a' tag with the id 'dialog_link'. The jquery on the page looks like this:

$("button").button();
$("#DeleteButton").click(function () {
$.ajax({

[code]...

The dialog itself is just a set of 'div' tags. Ive thought of lots of different ways of doing this (parameter passing, session variable etc...) but cant figure out how to get any of them working.Any ideas are most welcome

Using Server Side Validators With Modal Dialog (jquery)?

Dec 2, 2010

Is there a straightforward way to use server-side validation with ASP.NET's validation controls in a form that's displayed in a modal dialog? I am using jQuery and SimpleModal (in C#, VS2010, .NET 4.0)I've got a modal form which works fine. I need to use a server-side validation because the logic depends on data specific to the record being accessedMy solution for the project I'm working on now is to use a jQuery ajax call to pass all the form data to the server and get back the validation results before allowing the post to proceed. But this is relatively time consuming to implement, and in some situations I'm dealing with now all the validation code exists already.

The first challenge is that of course the modal dialog will close on a full postback. So you could put an UpdatePanel inside the dialog... without even thinking about this too much, though, I assumed that it wouldn't work out that well. It doesn't. And the form which opens the modal dialog to begin with is already in an UpdatePanel, which further confuses matters.Anyway, I tried putting the contents of the modal form in an UpdatePanel for the heck of it. It does actually do a partial postback, the dialog remains open, but the contents of the dialog do not get updated with anything I change server side. If I close and re-open the dialog on the same page after testing the validation code, though, its contents are in fact updated to reflect these changes. Obviously the way the dialog is rendered is confusing ASP.NET. Or vice-versa. But this just seems sketchy from the get-go.

Rather than trying to hack my way through this problem I was hoping that others had some suggestions about a better way to approach this. Or just tell me I'm trying to hard too mix apples and oranges and I should keep it all client side (or client side + jQuery ajax) if that is the only sensible thing to do.

JQuery :: JQuery Hide Div, Server-side Button Onclick Not Firing In IE?

Feb 9, 2011

I have 2 update panels where the server-side button (in a jQuery accordion) in the first update panel should update the second update panel.When the button is clicked, jQuery hides the accordion and displays a results div. This all works fine client side to be fair to IE. The server-side onclick event does not fire though in IE. In Firefox it does! The first update panel is displayed below, here the "btnGenerateReport" event should fire server side.

[Code]....

To add confusion ... if I comment out '$accordion.toggle($effect);' lines then the second update panel does get updated.I'm not sure what other information I can give here. I'm stumped as to why this works with Firefox and not IE.

Forms Data Controls :: How To Execute Jquery Function With Gidview Button Or From Server Side

Jan 19, 2011

How can I trigger a jQuery function with the Gridview Select button? I want that the select button trigger the jquery function that has the row details (it's already working with a asp:buttonfield ), and select the row so i can get the values and send it trough e-mail with another button. I don't know if this is possible. or, Can I trigger the jQuery function from code behind with the select button Sub? How?

[Code]....

This function capture the gridview cell values that are hidden and show them in a div outside the gridview (it works as row details). I have no problem with this.

[Code]....

All i need is a button that select the row index and/or values and trigger the jquery function . Or I can execute the jQuery function from server side. I don't know if it's posible.

AJAX :: How To Call A Server Side Method From Client Side

Jul 16, 2010

I am using VS2010 and .NET4 for a web app. I have a script manager/update panel that has a couple of grids.

The client just leaves the page opens and views an updated grid every 30 seconds or so.

I want to refresh the grid by calling the server side method to load the grid, but not load the whol page using meta refresh or similar (too much screen flicker and unnecessary bandwith).

Is it possible to set some timer using javascript or something and call a specific server method to refresh controls?

Calling Action Method In MVC With JQuery And Parameters Not Working

Dec 27, 2010

I'm trying to call an action method in an MVC application using jQuery. Basically what I want is to take the value of a couple of input fields and call the action method by clicking a button, passing the values of the input fields as parameters. But I only get the value of the "number" parameter, not the "year" parameter.

function selectWeek() {
$('#selectWeekButton').click(function (event) {
var number = $("#selectWeekId").val();
[code]...

I checked the url with an alert, as you can see, and it seems to contain both values fine. But when I check the value of the year parameter in the action method it is null.Here are the input fields:

<span>Vecka: </span>
<input type="text" id="selectWeekId" />
<span>År: </span>
<input type="text" id="selectYearId" />
<input type="button" value="Välj vecka" id="selectWeekButton" />

And the beginning of the action method:

public ActionResult Edit(string number, string year)
//etc...

I know that this looks like a strange thing to do instead of just binding fields, but the reason is that these input fields and their values is not the main purpose of this View. They're just there to select another week in this timesheet application. And besides, I'm going to replace the input fields with a jQuery calendar eventually, so I will still have to do something like this.

So what's the easiest way to do this, and why isn't it working as it is?

Jquery - Options For Page With Matching Client-side And Server-side Markup?

Oct 17, 2010

Suppose I'm building a StackOverflow clone using webforms ASP.NET and jQuery. The Question page has a question, several answers, and comments under each. Requirements:Users can post new answers and comments, and edit existing ones, without postbacks. No UpdatePanels; the AJAX calls retrieve just the JSON they need, not HTML fragments. The page loads with all existing answers and comments in place (no javascript needs to run to read the page).

What I'm trying to figure out is how to do this without having to maintain two sets of markup (one that's bound on the client using some form of jQuery templating, and one that's bound on the server using traditional WebForms).

JQuery Dialog Serving Multiple Button's Click Event Handler?

Oct 7, 2010

I have a scenario where...

1.) Have created a div with a dropdown list and ok, cancel button

2.) On document ready - registering div created on step 1 into a jQuery dialog

3.) on a javascript button click - I am opening this dialog box.

4.) Now, the problem is - the jQuery dialogbox which I have created, needs to be used by other button clicks as well on same page. Now, my div's (which is a dialog at runtime using jQuery) ok button click is already engaged with a javascript function (button1 click) and I can not associate other button's click events with it - thus stuck up here and have no clues or hit to resolve this.
