I have created one web page in asp.net in which i have used datalist in the datalist there is one dropdownlist and one linkbutton. i have to find dropdown selected value on link buutons click events.

Girdview has dropdownlist TemplateField called ddlSate, how to bind state field value in sql table to selected value of ddlState dropdownlist control? For example the sql table has AL value for state field, (Note by default ddlState lists all states options with sqldatasource), how AL is selected in ddlState when binding to ddlState?
Secondly, when user selects different state like GA, how below update stored precedure works? that means how to find ddl selected value in update procedure as shown below question mark line:

i have a gridview which consists of databounds and dropdownlist control. When I press the Add Grid Row Button, it will insert a row. Now my question is, if the user selected an item in dropdownList in the firstrow and the user click the AddGridRowBtn Again which will generate the 2nd row, how would i maintain the selectedItem in the dropdownlist after postback?

No you cannot add a third parameter in the Dictionary. It contain Key Value pair data.But if you want to add third parameter then simply use DataTable and add these in the DataTable row.Name of Builder , Title Of Buidler , Builder ID
So how to acheive that task ? so far i did like this :

i am making a site like linkedini have a datalist which show the search of peoples from database. my problem is that, i have mixed data to show in datalist.suppose datalist going to show only 2 label values, first is "who" second is "type". who can be of 4 types just like linkedin search, "A student","employ",Bussiness owner", "working independent"when student is pick in one label from database then college will be display in second labelwhen employ is pick in one label then company will be display in second column.It means i cannot bind the second label at designtime. and even at run time i have to bind each item of second label with approprite to first label. bec search can be mixed, means if 10 peoples are searched, then may be someone is employ, someone is student, and second label should show value appropriate their first label.

I have read some posts and they help but I am missing a crucial piece. My problem is that my dropdownlist is doubling the amount of records for the dropdownlist. Instead of "YES;NO;SELECT A VALUE", I am getting "YES;NO;SELECT A VALUE;YES;NO;YES;NO". My database is correct with the UPDATE part but the rebind after update is failing horribly.

I have a DropDownList on my aspx page and wanted to add ListItem programatically. The item will start from 2 years ago to 1 year later (e.g. from 2009 to 2012) so if the year change, it will be automatic. I also want the current year to be selected by default.
In the code behind, I did this:

When a user selects an item in the parent listview, the nested listiview displays as part of the selected item template - when a user selects an item in a nested listview it correctly populates a third, separate listview. To make sure I'm being clear, I have a parent listview with many rows and each of those rows has a nested listview, that is only populated and displayed when the row is selected. The parameters for the nested listview are set in the ItemDatabound event of the parent.
I had this working fine when both objectdatasources were on the aspx page. However, requirements have changed and we would like to pass a class to the BLL. I cannot figure out how to do this using a datasource on the aspx page. I can pass a class doing a databind in the code behind. However, if I do the databind in the code behind, the SelectedItem template does not get displayed as I would like. I need to find the the selectedIndex for the parent listview in SelectedIndexChanging. however, when I click or 'select' an item in the parent listview, the page refreshes, the ItemDatabound of the parent of the parent fires NOT knowing the selectedindex, then the SelectedIndexChanging event fires changing the SelectedIndex. By this time the Listview is already on the screen without the selectedItemTemplate containing the nested listview. If I click on another item, the when the page refreshes it knows the selectedItemIndex chosen before and displays that SelectedItemTemplate containing the selected index.
I have one ListView. If someone selects an item (as LinkButton) in the ListView, then the program will retrieve the record value and then converted the record value into ArrayList.
Is there VB code example (or showing a link) how to write the program in one page aspx?
i have a listview. The listview contains a usercontrol with ID="ucEquationBuilder1" which is added only! in the SelectedItemTemplate.I've came along some post which stated you can't find the control in the SelectedItemTemplate unless it is also in the the ItemTemplate.
To me this sounded ridiculous. Untill i ran some tests, and indeed i was able to find all other controls (TextBox's Labels) which where both inside the itemtemplate and the selecteditem template.
To me this is quite frustrating. Is there a way to retrieve the control which is only inside the SelectedItemTemplate without adding it to the itemtemplate?

I have a ListView which I populate using DataTable.
In each row I have a delete button. When the user clicks on the delete, that particular row is deleted in the DataTable Table.
After I perform the delete, I want to avoid page reload just to populate the ListView with the new set of records without showing the deleted row.
I suppose LINQ is the best choice for this. But I am unable to implement it.

I'm currently working on a project and I want to make as much things as possible performing on client side - with as little loading as possible. The project consist of three "main" pages. On one page I use jQuery DataTable plugin which is working great. One page has tabs (using jQuery). I want to put datacontrol (repeater) on this site and when user selects one item in dropdown, data in repeater loads on client side, without performing the action on server.
