Forms Data Controls :: How To Delete Temporary Image Files In Chart
Aug 10, 2010
I'm using Microsoft Chart control in my ASP 3.5 application and since it's local it works well. After uploading it to my remote host, I received an error message regarding unauthorized access to somewhere on the server. So I changed the Image StorageMode to UseImageLocation. Now it works well, except that by each page browse, it produces a couple of images which I cannot get rid of. I found a deleteAfterServicing property set in the ChartImageHandler key defined in web.config and I set it to true, but it didn't help. What could I do to delete the temporary files and avoid bloating?
Actually we have series of images named 1.jpg, 2.jpg, 3.jpg, 4.jpg & 5.jpg.
when i delete 2.jpg, then i rename 5.jpg with 2.jpg. But all this happens on server & on page load it is displaying 2.jpg from temporary files, not from server.
Solution is in two ways:-
1. either I will make page not to save any images on client's system(in temporary internet files).
2. or i will have to delete all images from temporary internet files.
What's the easiest way to delete all the files from my Temporary ASP.NET files in .NET 4.0 on my development box? It seems like I have to shutdown Visual Studio 2010, stop IIS, and then it will let me. Is there a simpler way?
Here's a nice one for a Pro to bite into I have a web form that generates a set of reports including asp chart controls. Clicking on the black title loads the report section into the ajax enabled panel below it. Beautiful! Two Problems though: Sometimes, when the ajax is loading the next report section, all the other charts on the page flicker and sometimes even show a red x (the image disappears). They can then reappear again when another chart loads! 2nd Problem: If I use the html-to-pdf converter, I tell all the panels to bind to the data source (they are repeaters) on page load and show content. I Then convert the resulting datastream to PDF. All the other images on the page load, but the ones for the charts don't. I have looked at the generated code, and they are all linked fine to the correct address of the site and the chart generator url. A sample image of the working page is below:
Example Page Example PDF Page PDF is generated from
The majority of files in the Temporary ASP.NET File folder for a given application get deleted by ASP.NET following compilation -- .DLL and .PDB files amongst others remain.
Our compiler produces proprietary debug information files which are amongst those that get deleted.
Marking the files read-only prevents this but are there other options available?
Class file Conflicts in C:WINDOWSMicrosoft.NETFrameworkv2.0.50727Temporary ASP.NET Files is preventing me from building the solution. Even though I try emptying out the folder, each time Visual Studio starts the build process, it brings in the class file in to the temp folder with the same folder name. If I restart the machine or leave it overnight, project build without error. Is there anyway to tell Visual studio to delete/ignore/clean any lingering class files that could be in the temp folder?
Clean solution option in VS doesn't work either. Class file in conflict are from the App_Code folder.
i have silverlight control in web page. and at every time i page load so 'New.xml' creating. but every time its show data when web load first time. becasue its store into Internet temporary files and reload previous file not new created. as other file like image and audio files. how can remove files from temprary folder or load new files? or any other method to load xml or other files ?
I have a gridview on my page which is bound to an objectdatasource that gets Data from an Images Table in my database. The delete button is enabled and I have this code in my DAL.ELETE FROM [Images] WHERE (([ImageId] = @ImageId))Instead of deleting just 1 image, I want to give a user the option to delete multiple images at once.
i store a image path in a folder as well as database.so i need when a user delete a image from database same time image within folder should be delete.
I was trying add a custom delete button image to a gridview's commandfield, like: <asp:CommandField buttonType="Image" DeleteImageUrl="~/manager/images/Delete.gif" ShowDeleteButton="true" />
The delete event does not seem to fire with this code, however, and after googling a bit
i'm creating a cookie with an expiration of 12 hours from now. when i run my solution locally and go into C:Users..AppDataLocalMicrosoftWindowsTemporary Internet Files and look at the expires property of my cookie the date and time are correct. However, when I deploy this to our web server and go to the website i notice the cookie that got created for it has an expiration date of 2 years from now, minus a day. So the cookie should be set to expire on 12/29/2010 8:00 PM for example instead shows 12/28/2012 8:00 PM. Here's the code i'm using to create the cookie, pretty basic. And yes, the date on the web server is correct. I really want the cookie to expire in 12 hours, not 2 years.
I have an issue in using dot net chart control. In chart last column is not completely shown which give bad appearance and on right side of chart it looks like TickMark are enabled. I set MajorTickMark of AxisY2 disabled but still tick marks on right side.
I have a drop downlist, and next to it there is an MS bar chart.i want to change the datate of the MS chart ,once the user selects another year from the dropdownlist.
When the page loads ,the chart displays the default year(2011) and it works. The problem is that is does not change the data when you select another year from the dropdownlist.
I am using MS Chart control (3.5), and have a requirement where I need to display 2 pie charts. The datapoints for the pie charts is set programatically. My doubts are as follows:
1. Can I display both the pie charts in a single chart control and area, or do I have to use two controls? (Currently I am using two controls)
2. How can I maintain the same size for both the pie charts? This is my main concern, since the pie sizes keep changing, depending on the number of datapoints. I tried using custom properties like "MinimumRelativePieSize", but it's not working.
I have been reading this forum post: http://forums.asp.net/t/1320074.aspx.I have found that I have to have the column which contains the image path showing in the gridview, in order to reference it using e.values("columnhere"). Is there a way I can do this without the column showing? I have tried setting the visible property to'false' but it still doesn't like it.
i'm trying to create a stacked bar chart on a vb web form using vs2010.My data source returns:
Error in Functionality Awaiting on Supplier
1IMT IssuesmActive6
IMT Issues,Awaiting on Supplier
2,IMT Issues,Awaiting on User 4
IMT Issues Closed 120
Login / Password Active
But I can't get this into a stacked chart. I know I must have to do quite a bit of work declaring what the series are and soforth, or having a different dataset but can't find any documentation on it.A link to some documentation or an example of a stacked chart from an sql datasource would be much appreciated.
I started using the awesome chart controls with my asp.net apps recently and so far they've been nothing short of breath taking. Right now I have a weird problem, on the first load of my page, the chart control appears correctly and the tooltip is correct, however, when I update it with new data, the chart displays correctly, but the tooltips are for the previous set of data.
I hope this makes sense. The first time I load the chart, the pie chart segments and tooltips are correct, after a partial postback (to get the new data), the pie chart segments are correct but the tooltips are for the previous data set.
Basically once the tooltips are set the first time, they can't be updated after that without a full page postback.
Here's how I set the tooltip:
[Code]....
Anyone else noticed this behaviour and have a work around?
Currently my only workaround is to check for a partial postback and not render the tooltip, which I'd rather not do as the tooltip display actual statistical data as opposed to the pie itself (which uses percentages).
I am able to delete the file from database but not from folder. I am also displaying the path in gridview bound field. How do i use Directory.Delete(path of file here)
