Forms Data Controls :: Display Hyperlink In Gridview Bound From Datatable

Feb 11, 2010

I have a gridView which is populated with the code below. This is working perfectly except for one issue. In the "Region" column, I need for each region name to be a hyperlink. If I set the row code to dr(0) = "<a href='table_display.aspx?IO_ID=" & objDataReader("IO_ID") & "'>" & objDataReader("Region") & "</a>" it actually displays the entire string of text from "<a href..." through "</a>", but not as a hyperlink. I have read in many places to manually put a hyperlink field in the aspx page, but I would really prefer to do this programmatically in the code-behind.

Forms Data Controls :: Gridview Bound To DataTable - How To Enable CheckBox Column

Jul 16, 2010

Below is the code behind for a simple aspx page. The web form contains one GridView (GridView1) and one label (Label1). I create a Data Table, then add a row to the table. I then DataBind my GridView to the DataTable. (so far so good) When I run the page I do see the GridView and the single row of data. However the checkbox shown is not enabled, meaning the user cannot uncheck or check it. (As if was not enabled)

Forms Data Controls :: How To Delete Temporary Image Files In Chart

Aug 10, 2010

I'm using Microsoft Chart control in my ASP 3.5 application and since it's local it works well. After uploading it to my remote host, I received an error message regarding unauthorized access to somewhere on the server. So I changed the Image StorageMode to UseImageLocation. Now it works well, except that by each page browse, it produces a couple of images which I cannot get rid of. I found a deleteAfterServicing property set in the ChartImageHandler key defined in web.config and I set it to true, but it didn't help. What could I do to delete the temporary files and avoid bloating?

C# - Way To Sort GridView Bound To DataTable

Jul 13, 2010

I have a repository that contains all of my LINQ queries for this project that I am working on. I am able to get the LINQ results to a DataTable and bind that to a gridview for displaying the data. Now I need to make the gridview sortable. I have set AllowSorting="true" and I have the OnSort event handled in a routine in the codebehind.

Sorting Gridview Bound To Datatable In C#.net?

Sep 28, 2010

I have a gridview which is bound to a DataTable. When I try to sort the gridview, it goes blank. How can I enable sorting this gridview? I know this question has been asked before, but what I'm looking for is an explanation of how to do it. Perhaps with a simple example.

I have read that I need to put some code in the on_sorting and/or on_sorted events, but I don't understand what needs to go there. Again, I want to understand the method of accomplishing this, I don't just want a giant block of code.

VS 2008 DetailsView And GridView Bound To A DataTable

Mar 2, 2011

I'm hacking my way through ASP.Net WebForms, coming from VB.Net WinForms. I was hoping the transition would've been more seamless... it is not.

I have a GridView (Paging enabled) bound to a DataTable, filled with Joined tables from an Access 2000 DataBase.

The GridView and DetailsView are bound to the same DataTable.

In the GridView's SelectedIndexChanged Event I have the following:

vb.net Code:

' dtvSelected is the DetailsView' dgvJobTOF is the GridView Me.dtvSelected.PageIndex = Me.dgvJobTOF.SelectedIndex

When the page loads the first item in the GridView is also displayed in the DetailsView.

I've added a "Select" button in the GridView and when it is clicked the Data in the DetailsView remains the same regardless of the selected GridView row.

DataBinding Method:

vb.net Code:

Forms Data Controls :: How To Delete Rows From DataTable Conditionally

Apr 13, 2010

I am trying to delete row(s) from the DataTable conditionally but I cant.

Actually I have DataList with CheckBox (default value checked=false). I am bindind DataList at run time using DataView (Dataview is created fromDataTable).

I also have <asp:Button ID="btnDelete" ....> which I am using to delete checked items in the DataList (But this functionality is not working).

The user first "checked" items in the DataList and click the the button "btnDelete". Here nothing is being deleted (?) and the DataList appears with all the items"unchecked" (even those which the the "checked" by the user). protected void btnDelete_Click(object sender, EventArgs e) . In this function I am checking state of the checkbox before deleting the row in the DataTable.

On PostBack generated by the "btnDelete", DataList appears with checkboxes unchecked therefore nothing is being deleted

Here is the DataList

Following is the .cs file

Forms Data Controls :: Delete Selected Item From DataTable Using LINQ?

Feb 1, 2010

I have a ListView which I populate using DataTable.

In each row I have a delete button. When the user clicks on the delete, that particular row is deleted in the DataTable Table.

After I perform the delete, I want to avoid page reload just to populate the ListView with the new set of records without showing the deleted row.

I suppose LINQ is the best choice for this. But I am unable to implement it.

Forms Data Controls :: Modal Popup - Store Data Temporary Until User Click Save In Parent Gridview

Nov 5, 2010

I have one parent gridview where each record will link to its details page (another child gridview in modal popup). May I know how do I store the values of the child gridview temporary (maybe in session) and repopulate the data into the parent gridview? Current problem is: once I click save in the child modalpop gridview, it binds the parent gridview before the child gridview data is stored in session. I want to store the data temporary until user click save in the parent gridview.

Forms Data Controls :: Delete Confirmation Box In Gridview With Edit And Delete Buttons?

Nov 18, 2010

How do I reference the delete button to add the delete confirmation box when I have both the Edit and Delete buttons as the last two columns in the Gridview control. The following code works fine without any issues when I have the delete button only:

protected void GridView1_RowDataBound(object sender, GridViewRowEventArgs e)
{
if (e.Row.RowType != DataControlRowType.DataRow) return;
int lastCellIndex = e.Row.Cells.Count - 1;
Button db = (Button)e.Row.Cells[lastCellIndex].Controls[0];
db.OnClientClick = "if (!window.confirm('Are you sure you want to delete this record?')) return false;";
}

But, when I have both the Edit and the Delete buttons, I get the following error when I click the edit button while the delete button works fine.

Specified argument was out of the range of valid values. Parameter name: index

How do I reference the delete button so the edit button is not affected in this case?

Forms Data Controls :: Delete Images From Folder Using Gridview Delete Link?

Feb 3, 2010

Using "Enable Delete" from Gridview control, I can delete (besides, update, sort, paging, etc) data from the database (this is done automatically). However, how can I delete the actual image that resides in my image folder (i.e. from "pix" folder )? What is the best way to delete image? If using code behind, how? Please write a full code for me. Here is my source code.

Web Forms :: How To Delete Temporary Internet Files Either Using C# Or JavaScript

May 31, 2010

Actually we have series of images named 1.jpg, 2.jpg, 3.jpg, 4.jpg & 5.jpg.

when i delete 2.jpg, then i rename 5.jpg with 2.jpg. But all this happens on server & on page load it is displaying 2.jpg from temporary files, not from server.

Solution is in two ways:-

1. either I will make page not to save any images on client's system(in temporary internet files).

2. or i will have to delete all images from temporary internet files.

Forms Data Controls :: Display A One Row Gridview When Gridview Is Bound To Empty Dataset

Jan 13, 2010

If the gridview binds to empty dataset, I need to still show a gridview so that users can ADD more using the textfields in the bottom of the footer template. Since the gridview is empty it won't bind not allowing rendering of the <footer template> I guess I should create a empty dataset if the gridview is empty. How do I check for this and can this be done in GridviewRowEventArgs

Forms Data Controls :: Get ID Bound To Label In GridView?

Feb 10, 2010

I have a foreign key (TeamID) in a GridView. I use a TemplateField to display it as the lookup value (TeamName) in a label, and a dropdown for editing. When row is selected and SelectedIndexChanged is fired, I want to access the TeamID. I can get the TeamName from the label. I tried putting the TeamID in DataKeyNames, but that fouled up my dropdown when saving (it reverts to the original value). So, how can I get the TeamID?
