Forms Data Controls :: How To Get The GridviewPager Selected PageSize In A Webform
Mar 16, 2010I need to get the selected Pagesize value from the gridview pager.

View 3 RepliesI have done some modification and customization with List.aspx under Dynamic Data.
I must have messed up some controls or events somewhere.
Everything works well except that GridViewPager buttons (|<, <, >, >|) does not bring me to the next or previous page. It stays at the same page.
But if I manually type in the page number into the page number field and press enter, it works brilliantly. The gridview refresh to the correct pageindex.
I need your help / guidence for doing custom paging in c#, through sqlserver. so that i can have data in dataset/datatable according to the pagesize given, not all the data in dataset. some code /url .......with full discrption if possible.

here is my datapager asp(.net) code:

When (in what event) is the best time to set PageSize for the ListView's DataPager? I have tried every event on the ListView and either it does not work (i.e., reverts to the default 10) or I get a CRASH of some sort (mostly error 12002) - but that's a different story.
View 6 RepliesI have some doubt about GridView PageSize, for the example if my table have more than 100000 rows and i set PageSize=50, i can see GridView trying to download whole 100000 rows and display only 50 records with pagewise.
In this case my application getting very slow.
Is there anyway to force GridView download data according to the pagesiz without passing limit in sql?

GridView bound to a SqlDataSource. GridView.AllowPaging is True. In one of the ItemTemplates I have a LinkButton with a OnClick event.Have a DropDownList for changing GridView.PageSize - done in Page_LoadEverything in of-course in an UpdatePanel.
The whole thing work fine (we are in test fase). The problem is that the LinkButton OnClick event is only being attached to the initial "PageSize" amount of elements. Fx. if I sat PageSize=15 in the <asp:GridView> then change the page size to say 30 from the DropDownList, the page size changes but only the first 15 LinkButtons fire the OnClick event when clicked.
I've tried to do the following:
Attached an "onchange" javascript client event for saving the selected value in a <asp:HiddenField> before postback. Problem here is that the HiddenField value is then only available on Page_Load. By then it's too late to set the new page size on the GridView because the attachemnt of events to the LinkButtons have allready happened - of-course only to the first 15 elements.Then I tried to drop the PageSize=15 in the <asp:GridView> and only sat it in the Page_load. The idea was that with no paging all the Linkbuttons will get treated evenly. That worked, but when I change the GridView page size and click fx. on LinkButton 25, the Click event forks fine but the GridView page size resets to the initial value (15) - no good.
how I can get all the LinkButtons to have their event working, even after I change GridView page size?
I have developed a application using Visual Studio 2008 and SQLServer 2008. I have a page called "Billing Center" where i need to display more than 500 records in a gridview and the gridview has sorting enabled. If i limit the page size upto 10 only the gridview performs well but user requirement is to view atleast 500 records at once which is slowing down the gridview record retrieval process.
I am using the following C# code in code behind to sorting, paging and retrieval . Please guide me what am i doing wrong in this code and how to make it work with large data set.

Asp.net gridview dynamic change pagesize not work on the last page.
I have added one dropdownlist in the pager of gridview and add event of selectedIndexChanged with the DropDownList.
Changing pagesize is working except the last page

I've been working through the ASP.NET Security Tutorial 12, seen here:
http://www.asp.net/%28S%28pdfrohu0ajmwt445fanvj2r3%29%29/learn/security/tutorial-12-cs.aspx
Part of this tutorial entails setting up a GridView which is bound to the collection of UserAccounts, and then enabling paging on the GridView. There are the usual four links for First, Prev, Next, and Last pages, which should work because I have twelve users defined, and the pagesize of my GridView set to 5. I've set up the code to enable or disable the paging links depending on what section of the entire UserGrid is currently visible.
So when I first run the website and go to the ManageUsers.aspx page, I would expect to see only the first five users in my collection. But it shows all twelve.
I must have overlooked something, but I can't find it in the text and examples.
In my Sql Server table, I specified the modifyDate defaultValue to GETUTCDATE(). Now, in my FormView control and SqlDataSource control, do I have to do anything special?
View 4 RepliesI have two gridviews on same page - If a record is selected in Gridview1, I need to unselect a record (if one is selected) in Gridview2 - and vice-versa.
View 5 RepliesHow to get the selected item from the listbox in the selected index changed event. I tried: Label1.Text = ListBox1.SelectedItem.Text; It is giving me object set to null reference.
foreach (ListItem item in ListBox1.Items)

{
//lblResults.Text += item.Text + "

Label1.Text = item.Text;
}
}
No use, no value coming in to label.
I am Chandan Pednekar an IT student completing my final year. I am developing a data driven website for my final year project. I have written a code behind file in c# which takes a value from a datagrid to retrieve values in textboxes for further updating.
I have coded the datagrid on another page. My problem is that, even when I click update(on editEmp.aspx) I straight away get redirected to the datagrid page(manageEmp.aspx I have redirected after successful update) but the database just doesn't gets updated. I am using sqlCommand Object with executeNonQuery method.
I don't even get errors. It just gets redirected and the database isn't even updated.

I have a gridview I create dynamically and one of the columns is a checkbox. I need to set an event handler on this control for checkedchanged. everything appears to work fine except for one thing....even though I can see my WebForm controls they are all null..(even thogh I know they are not) So I basically cant do anythign to the controls in the event handler. Here is teh code I use to create teh dynamic column in the gridview.
EtscUtilsUI.ALMSSECSRV.EALMSAppRoles ealmsapprole =
new EtscUtils.EtscUtilsUI.ALMSSECSRV.EALMSAppRoles();//Thsi
is the webform code behind partial class.
CheckBox chk =
new
CheckBox();
chk.ID = _columnName;
chk.DataBinding += new
EventHandler(chk_DataBinding);
//Attaches the data binding event.
chk.AutoPostBack = true;
chk.CheckedChanged += new
EventHandler(ealmsapprole.Dyn_CheckChanged);
container.Controls.Add(chk);
chk.Enabled = true;
This is the code for the event Handler
internal
void Dyn_CheckChanged(object sender,
EventArgs e)
{
string err =
"";
try
{
if (lblAppID.Text !=
"")
}
that label come back as null event though a previous event set its value successfully if I try to reference the gridview itself I get the error Object reference not set to an instance of an object.
I am trying to find an efficient way of displaying images (about 140x140px) in a webform. We cannot use paging, so we need to display all these images in the same webform.I noticed that facebook (and other sites) lets you display all your images in one page. For a profile qith about 1000 photos, facebook somehow downloads only enough so that the visitor can see images on the screen. Once you scroll, it seems to only download enough so that the visitor can again see something on screen. It works like a good text editor.... instead of displaying a huge file onscreen (like notepad does) and freezing, it only displays enough for the reader to see.
View 2 RepliesI am trying to create a recipe system that will pull material amounts from an already built inventory database upon request for testing purposes of the different recipe runs. What is throwing me for a loop is that each time a user will request a recipe comparison they will have a different number of recipe trial runs for comparison purposes. In order to do this I'm guessing you will need to generate a gridview-like control with a dynamic number of columns which would be specified on a web form page prior to arriving at the recipe formulation page which will contain the control for the recipe formulation. As a result the user will have different columns and rows on this formulation page, with the rows being a static number of 30 (30 being maximum amount of ingredients to include in each recipe). The columns will contain the recipes to be compared, i.e. ProductRun1, ProductRun2, ProductRun3, where the number of ProductRunX will be determined by user input. So the user when they come to this aspx page will be presented with a blank editable grid of X columns by 30 rows deep. The left-most column will contain the ingredient names in a drop down box for users to select to input into their recipe and the rest of the columns will be editable fields where the user can type in the amount of each material to be used. The setup will look roughly like this:
| ProductRun1 | ProductRun2 | ProductRun3 |
ProductRun4 | ... |
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Material1 | Material1_Amt | Material1_Amt | Material1_Amt | Material1_Amt | ...|
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Material2 | Material2_Amt | Material2_Amt | Material2_Amt | Material2_Amt | ...|
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Material3 | Material3_Amt | Material3_Amt | Material3_Amt | Material3_Amt | ...|
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
(...)
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Material30 | Material30_Amt | Material30_Amt | Material30_Amt | Material30_Amt | ...|
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
So my question is how would I go about tackling something like this and what controls would I use. All of the forum posts around the internet show the GridView control being tied to data in a database already and not having the ability to have a fully blank and editable table upon the page loading so that it can accept user input. Another wrench into the situation is that the column numbers can vary. What control would be used in this situation or would it be better to use just a repeater of textboxes to build this type of control? Another thing is once the control is built how can you pull the data from such a control with the intentions of entering it inside a sql server database?
Using VWD 2010 Express.
I tried to put a ListView onto a webform but got an error right after that:
Error Creating Control - ListView1
The 'CssClass' property cannot be set declaratively.
BTW, does ListView support horizontal/vertical scroll bar? As I might have about 50 records in maximum, so need to have horizontal and vertical scroll bars. But do not need paging.
I tried ur code , but it show an error ....
pagesize is ambiguous , imported from the namespace or types 'iTextsharp.text.document,iTextsharp.text

I am extending the GridView control to include a custom pager for a custom paging scheme (only one page returned from the database at a time rather than all records). In my testing a discovered an issue - on my last page of data, the GridView's rows property always returns a collection of PageSize page, rather than the actual number of records on the page, with non-data fill records being empty rows.
For example, suppose I have 23 records in my database. Assuming a PageSize of 10, when I page to the last page of data the gridview it properly displays the last 3 recrods - but when I handle the GridView's CommandName="Select" event the GridView's Rows collection contains 10 records, the last seven of which are empty.
I set a break point in just before I call GridView.DataBind and verified that the DataTable used as the DataSource for the last page of data does in fact only contain the 3 expected records. But when I set a breakpoint on the Sub that handles the "Select" GridView command, the GridView.rows collection contains 10 records, the last 7 of which are empty.
This post[URL] and comments make note of the issue but the solution prescribed by the author does not seem to work.
Attached are some snippets of my extended GridView and the two methods from my page where I mentioned setting breakpoints above.

View 1 Repliesin my webapplication i create a pdf document based on a pdf template which paegsize is Iso C6 (envelope ).
The documet is returned to the client in the response output stream .
If i choose to open the document (and print it) , i have the printer pagesize automatically set to the a4 pagesize;
This cause a side effect : the text printed on the envelope is not in the right position because the printer pagesize is different (on a a4 paper the envelope is centered on the paper!!!).
Can i set the printer pagesize with itextsharp?
