Feb 11, 2010I want to get data from the database and display it in gridview. The gridview should be editable. Meaning the user can add, edit and delete items/rows in the gridview. Everytime the user adds/updates/deletes an item, the gridview is also updated. However, these changes will only be saved to the database once the Save button is clicked.

I am trying to display that image through a datalist control as follows

I have a table named image, with three fields ImageID, Img_data, Img_contenttype .2. I am able to display the ImageID as a link in my page.3. On clicking the link i am going to my viewImage.aspx?img=ImageID .This far it works ok. ImageID is passing in the query string.4. In this page imageID is being captured from query string and stored in ImageIdview int variable. viewImage.aspx has an image tag to display the image as below.

Then, when users click that button I want to be able to retrieve information about that item. I have done this with gridview, but cannot seem to get it to work with a datalist. The only reason I am using a datalist is because I am able to arrange the items how I want and not be forced to have columns.
The way I have it setup so far is

Feb 2, 2011I have a datalist on my page that allows a user to build up with orders. Each time an order is added I post back to the server, updated a dataset and then bind the dataset to the datalist.
I would rather do this on the client, for performance reasons.
Does anyone know of a way I can add a row to a datalist via javascript/jquery?
I understand this may not be possible using a datalist, so any other type of client side list tool.
