Forms Data Controls :: Using Hyperlink Control With DataList?

Mar 9, 2010

I have a datalist that displays text which links to another page. Depending on which value is selected the data shows the relevant data for the selected record. Using the code below I have tried to insert the 'RecId' value into the url to get the correct data but I get an error because the syntax is wrong.

<asp:DataList ID="DataList1" runat="server" DataSourceID="SqlDataSource1" ShowFooter="False" ShowHeader="False">
<ItemTemplate>
<asp:HyperLink ID="EventDescLabel" runat="server" NavigateUrl=http://www.MySite.com/Courses/tabid/98/ModuleID/509/ItemID/" & '<%# Eval("RecId") %>' & "/mctl/EventDetails/Default.aspx"
Text='<%# Eval("EventName") %>' />

Forms Data Controls :: How To Create Paging Facility For Datalist Dynamically With Hyperlink

Nov 1, 2010

i am trying to create a paging facility for my dalatist dynamically and for this i am taking a hyperlink and putting it in a panel and showing the list of pages

but the problem is that when i click on next page for example from 1st page to another then it refreshes the page and opens the page with IsPostback = False and thus my all values that i have stored in a session becomes null like fisrt time loading

so it there any way so that when i click on the link it just show me the next bunch of record without refreshing the page ??

Note: i have created paging in my Stored procedure where each page contains 10 record per page

the code that i am using to bind the pager is as below : where default value of _PageIdx=1 and _totalPages = the number of pages that are coming from the database, it vary from search to another search

Then the user can type a data. With this data, I must update the hyperlink's text in which the user clicked. All using javascript. The problem is that I don't know how to find the Hyperlink because there will be so many hyperlinks as rows in the DataGridView and they will have the same Id.

Forms Data Controls :: DataList Doesn't Load Some Of The Times?

Sep 13, 2010

This is the problem. My datalist, which connects to an Objectdatasource (I implemented custom paging) becomes populated with data only half of the time. When I go to the aspx page which contains that datalist (from another page), sometimes, the datalist fully loads, but sometimes only the header shows up. The header just contains hard-coded text whereas the body (itemtemplate portion) contains things that are binded to the objectdatasource. I thought I would mention this since the problem might have something to do with how things in asp.net bind.

The strange part of this is that when I was testing and debugging within VWD 2010, the datalist loaded fully everytime and I had no issues. When I placed my files on the IIS web server, this is when the problems started happening.What could the problem be? The speed of the IIS web server vs VWD's "internal server"? My page_load, init_load, etc methods are empty for this aspx page. The datalist is solely handled by the objectdatasource_selecting method. Should I explicit call something from one of those early lifecycle methods to ensure proper datalist loading?

Forms Data Controls :: Hyperlink Is Inside Gridview / Want Navigateurl In Code Behind

Dec 28, 2010

this is in my aspx page:

<asp:HyperLink ID="lnkAll" runat="server" CssClass="links_b"></asp:HyperLink>
<asp:GridView ID="gridfeatured" runat="server" AllowSorting="false" AllowPaging="false" AutoGenerateColumns="false"
ShowHeader="false" GridLines="None" CssClass="grid" CellSpacing="5">
<Columns>
<asp:TemplateField itemStyle-CssClass="gridrc">
<ItemTemplate>
<table>
<tr>
<td>
<asp:HyperLink ID="lnkLogo" runat="server" >
.
.
.
.

now, in code behind it is'nt allowing me to use lnklogo.navigateurl("...") property.

whereas it is allowing me to use lnkall.navigateurl("...").

i think this is because the lnklogo is inside gridviews tempalte field. what is the solution to this.

i cannot provide navigateurl in aspx page and have to provide it in code behind since i want to do a conditional loop on it.

Forms Data Controls :: LoginView Inside A Gridview Loses Hyperlink After Postback?

Feb 21, 2010

I have a gridview with columns 'Edit', 'Delete', 'View Results' and other details. The 'Edit' column opens a modal popup to edit the record. The 'View Result' column is in a login view and this column is only visible to users belonging to the group 'Manager' as below:

[Code]....

When the page is first loaded, the hyperlinks are displayed correctly. however, after editing a record and saving the changes, the 'View Results' column loses the hyperlink.

I tried creating a temp hyperlink column outside a loginview control and this seems to work correctly.
