My plain texts are image links and pdf URLs from a database table, in groups, in the correct order but I'm not sure how to render them correctly (sample image below shows what I am trying to render)
Is there any way to make a repeater template intelligent enough to render an "image link" OR "pdf link" based off the [type] column returned in the record?

way to read xml from a database and then dynamically render out the node name in text and the node value in a checkbox/textboxI want to be able to edit the values and then save it back to the database.I know that you can use serialize the xml to a class object but that only works when you know how the xml looks like.. if im not mistaken?

I have a webform developed in VB.NET and I am facing a strange problem. In the webform I have a GridView control which has two bound fields (Item # and Item name) coming from a master table and infront of these two fields I have placed a TEXTBOX control as TEMPLATE FIELD to take any value of particular item. But after filling all the textboxes when i clicked on submit button it loops thru the items and there i need to read the textbox value of that particular item in a variable but unfortunately the value is blank even the data is there. I have a repeater control with a delete button on each row. I also have a link on the same page (not within the repeater) that I only want to be visible when the repeater contains at least one row.
My problem is that, when the delete button on the final row is clicked, this triggers a postback during which the ItemCommand event is called to process the delete click. However this event is processedafter the Page Load event in which I would normally render or not render the conditional link. So I don't know at the time I'm rendering the link whether the user has just deleted the last row.
Am I misunderstanding the chain of events or is there a better way of handling this? Could I, for example, determine from the Sender & e arguments available within the Page_Load event, that the postback has been triggered by clicking the delete button in the repeater? The only other way I can see of dealing with this is to force a second postback once the final row of the repeater has been deleted which seems like overkill.

My issue is that the first row of data in my db table does not seem to be output to my ListView control when I run the page. The first item in the ListView control is the 2nd row of my db table.

I have a web page that has a repeater bound to a data source. I beed to change a label inside the repeater based on the data that is in each repeater item. For instance, for the first item it might be one thing, and for the next item the label may be something else. I am currently doing some processing in the prerender event, but I don't know if I can or how to access the data source fields there. Where and how do I get access to the data in each item so I can change the label text?

Just dipping my toe with doing simple VB.NET stuff. Have used classic ASP, so im used to being able to place any field from a recordset whereever i want to putit , and i have just tried to recreate this event.Its got me a bit lost.. now i have read up and understand why it doesnt work - cant use DataItem in a HeaderTemplate - i get that, but how would you do something where you have complete control of the way the table is being set up? and you can use the contents of the container whereever you want, however you want?I just want to be able to get the values from database table, and put them into an html table, in a specific way.
