Mar 23, 2010Why would i be getting NullReferenceException if im setting the labels with values?In my page_load i have the following:

Web Forms :: DropDown List OnSelected IndexChanged Not Capturing Selected Value?
Mar 26, 2010I'm having a dropdown list which is being bound dynamically from database. For that i've written selected index changed event which captures the DataValueField of dropdownlist and returns few values from the database again. This dropdown list is in a datalist control and there are 5 items in my datalist control.Selected Value is not working for first 3 items in datalist and working for remaining items.i've changed code many times and i got mad why it is not selecting the selected value..Here is my aspx code and codebehind..

For the first item in datalist when i select a value then on Selected Index Changed event, i can see the LISTITEM "SELECT A HOTEL" instead of selected original value.NOTE: this is not happening for all the datalist items, only for first 3 items..

Oct 25, 2010I have a page with a datalist on it, with an image button and some labels in the datalist item(1,2)..
I have some more labels on the page which get their values from querystrings(17,18)..
I have more labels which are empty (34,35)
On image click in the datalist item, i want the labels from that item to add with the labels outside of the datalist, and the last lot of labels to show this number..
Currently it doesnt do this. Here is my code:

Feb 8, 2011I have a problem in setting the selected index /value in a drop down list. The list is bound by a Linq query and I want to add an item at the top of the list and set it as the selected item.
THis is the code i am using

The listItem li is the item i want to be first in the list and also selected. Adding this before the databind just loses the item.
Forms Data Controls :: Setting The Selected Index In A Datalist?
Mar 31, 2010I have a datalist that holds imagebuttons which all link to images stored in a database. When I click on any of the image buttons the datalist enlarges the chosen picture and manages to dothis as the datalist is binded by the uniqueID of the image in the database. So, when I am looking at the enlarged picture, it would be nice to be able to click 'Next' & 'Prev' link buttons to move onto the next or previous picture without having to return to the datalist in between looking at a different photo.
I have managed to set up methods for clicking on 'next' and 'prev' linkbuttons that will successfully browse back and forth between photos in the datalist but the selected index always starts at 0, i.e the first photo in the datalist. So if I'm viewing the 5th image in the list and press 'next', the first image in the list shows up. I thought just by clicking on an image button would automatically set the selected index but obviously this is not the case. I have read various threads and tutorials on the net and a lot of them point to dlIcons.SelectedIndex = e.Item.ItemIndex; I have tried to put this in the itemDataBound method for my datalist but it changes nothing. And if i try to put that line of code in other messages in the class i get error messages (I'm using Visual Web Developer C#).

Ms Chart Funnel Setting Labels?
Mar 30, 2010I have been playing around with the new ms chart controls 3.5 to create reports on web traffic. It looks like a pretty powerful extension, however, I am having trouble drawing a funnel chart the way I want.
I am trying to mirror one of the samples posted on ms's website but no luck. I have a datatable with two columns, first the labels, second the data like so.

I am able to populate the funnel correctly in that the largest part of the graph is default. However, when I put the labels on it only shows the data values, not the page name. Without the label showing property the graph is useless. I know it must work somehow because the sample chart displays product names as labels and not the datapoints.
Setting Time Labels On RangeBar Chart?
Feb 22, 2011I have a RangeBar chart that will show different schedules and how they overlap. I can't seem to get AxisY (which is really AxisX, but they switch when you use a RangeBar for some reason) to display the hour. It displays a gridline for every hour, but the label is the date, which is not helpful at all.
I tried
asChart.ChartAreas["ChartArea1"].AxisY.CustomLabels.Add(0, DateTimeIntervalType.Hours, string.Format("{0:H}"));
but I get the error: Index (zero based) must be greater than or equal to zero and less than the size of the argument list.

Feb 12, 2010What am i missing or doing wrong to accomplish this. I want to set the values of my labels within my modalpopup with the values of the item clicked on within my gridview. Here is my RowDataBound code, im sure i have to do this somewhere else, but you will see the 2 labels im trying to set. When they click on ibHT image button a modalpopup opens and works great, but the labels are always set to the first record in the gridview.

Jul 29, 2010I am not trying to achieve anythign fancy but just trying to set default selected value for one of the dropdown that I am using. for that I am doing Items>selected= true for whatever item I want selected when i load the page. In my case, it is a month dropdows and I am selecting date 14 as selected default value out of all 30 values but somehow, out of the blue .NEt decides to show me 29 instead of 14. I am not sure if there is some another setting that is overwritting this value.

Nov 10, 2010I have a master page (Site.master) with a navigation menu linked to a datasource (Master.sitemap). I have a nested master page that has another navigation menu. For any item clicked in this nested navigation menu, I want a particular menu item in the Site.master navigation menu to be selected.
Here's my Site.master menu:

In my Site.master.cs I have this:

In the nested master page, Products.master I have this:

In the Products.master.cs file I try to change the selected item.

The master navigation and products navigation menus work just fine by themselves. But when I've tried to set the selected item of the master menu in the Page_Load above, I can't seem to access it. What I've found in trying to do this is the NavigationMenu seems to be uninitialized. The menu Items list is empty. What am I missing here? Why are there no menuItems in the Master.NavigationMenu control?
