I need to somehow test if a table exists in a database. If it does not then I need to create the table. How can I test for existence of a table using SQL? It seems like some type of SQL logic is needed?

I've sucefully runned it in my local server (Windows Server 2003 Standart) but after tried several times upload it to my hosting, it never works. The web hosting company told first that they didn't had System.Web.Routing.dll installed (but they said that they've .NET 3.5 installed..), then i've copied the dll to Bin folder and again with no sucess. Can someone give me a very basic example of and website using System.Web.Routing.dll so i can do the "final" test on webhost before i go to the company because they say that they have 3.5 installed but i'm starting to see that they didn't have? If possible, is there another way to test if this dll is installed in web hosting? (test all .dll running for example)

I've got a DetailsView control with Edit and Update enabled. I'd like to write the edited record to an XML file after Editing. What's the best way to do this? I thought I could write to a text file and concatenate the db fields between XML tags but is there an "automatic" or best practice way to do it?

I have a DetailsView on my page that will be populated with a users information once they navigate to it. If they need to edit anything in it, they will click the "Edit" link, make their changes and click the "Update" link. Upon update, I want to export/append their information to a csv so we can bulk update a master db.
I already have it populating and I have the function: "SqlDataSource1_Updated" - but don't know how to get their information into a csv file in code behind.

I am trying to arrange the information from a SQL record into a 3 column by 3 row table to fit the form presentation that I want. I have placed on the page 3X3 table and then tried to place a detailsview in the first cell for the first picture called P1dv.
I have place a detailsview in the last cell that would control the paging of information called Controldv. I need to fiqure out how to link P1dv paging to Controldv page action. I am using visual web dev. 2005. I am not updating or editing these are read only views.

I�m trying to link the gridview to detailsview and I used this page as my inspiration:

But I�m trying to do that programmatically, not with the sqldatasource. So I wrote the method that binds data to Detailsview and I call it in the page_load. The problem is that I have to click two times on the select button to view the detailsview. The first time I click on the select button nothing happens.

I have two websites. One site contains nothing but image files. This is a sub-domain of the main website. The main website allows the user to search a database of information and displays that information. I create a grid with a link to the file. In my row_databound function, I want to check to see if that file exists on my other website. If it doesn't I remove the link, otherwise I leaves a link to that file. how to verify that the LINK actually goes to a file that exists?

What is the way to :
1) Check if a file exists on an FTP site.
2) Sample the size of that ftp file (3) times to ensure the file is ready for downloading.
We have some classes doing this already but they are using WebRequestMethods.Ftp.ListDirectoryDetails and then searching there in if file exists. I am hoping there are some clean ways to do this.

I have a page with a simple textbox, when an OrderNo is entered in te textbox the page is populated with 2 or 3 gridviews depending if the order has items reserved or on back order.
GridView1 has data about the order, like status, payment details.
GridView2 has data about orderitems, each row displays an item from the order with stock and order quantities
GridView3 has data about backorders, each row displays an item from the order with quantity reserved and quantity on back order. As is no data for GridView3 if order is not on backorder I thought that I can enclose my code inside an if block

'getting some data from the cells in GridView3

but the code still executes.

I want if a file exists then it ask for "do u want 2 overwrite ?" with yes or no confirmation ,,, if yes then overwrite otherwise not.
I want to do this with of ConfirmationExtender with a textbox because the user can enter some info like who is the user and overwrite on what reason.

but when again I want upload catalog.pdf in host it overwrite last (catalog.pdf) but I want if there was catalog.pdf file it saves with this name 1catalog.pdf in host

I have a full working web site that i ported to a new hosting company. In some pages i have links to PDF on the server (they do exist!) On the old server no problem.
