The issue I am facing is that the current page URL is getting appended to the 'LinkAddress'(the URL being fetched from the database) and thus, the final URL formed is not a valid one.Can someone suggest how do I remove the current page URL? Is there any way it can be done without writing code in the code behind page?
I have a datalist and would like to add an if statement within the Text part of my label.
Tried the following but it doesn't work
Note: if I do a normal eval Text='<%# Eval("UI_successful_trans")%>' the value returned from the database will be 1 or 0. Depending of which value is returned, I would like to have the text "Win" or "Lose" returned. ( I know that this could easily be done in code behind but I would like to know if it is
I have a label in a gridview where the text is set to <%Bind("lname")%> . I want to make it say thiis <%Bind("lname" + "fname")%>. I've been having a hard time making .net do this. I also want to add a "," or some other unrelated caracter?
I ran into this kind of situation many times without a nice solution. Binding a data source to a gridview and one of the column require nested query. Is it possible to have a callback function other than Eval()?

I have added Datalist in .aspx page when when i am trying to access it on .aspx.cs file I get an errory saying Datalist1 does not exist in curretn context?

Am using datalist to create a kinsd of message board, in the back end am having two tables one for the parent comment , and other for the child comments
The data source is extracted by LINQ to SQL with the load option , so I get everthing when I debug on the code behind , and I can see all the fields each parent comment and the child comments.
the problem is with binding the data on the disply for example all the parent table fildes can be rendred without any problems:
<%# DataBinder.Eval(Container.DataItem, "comment1Parent") %>; "showing me the orginal post"
Problem here:
<%# DataBinder.Eval(Container.DataItem, "Childcomment") %> is not rendred and I got this error msg:
DataBinding: 'DataAccessLayer.Comment' does not contain a property with the name 'childComment'. In the debug I navigate to the childComment and this is its HTML visualisar:
new System.Linq.SystemCore_EnumerableDebugView<DataAccessLayer.Comment>(((ASP.usercontrols_comments_ascx)this).Comments)).Items[0]._comments_Replies.entities.items[0].childComment
The problem is that i have a search page. Access Database holding the information. I have a Access Datasource on the page with a Datalist to show the data. I need to find a way on setting it up to says "Sorry no results found" when the is no results. i am unsure on how to do this though.
I am using Datalist to bind userdetails which contains department name. With RepeatColumns="2" & RepeatDirection=" Horizontal". Now i want to check a condition while binding.for Example; If i am binding with 5 users having 3 users with same department and remaining 2 users with different departments then i want to show 1st 3 users having same department in two rows and remaining to users in next two rows.
What I'm trying to do is if the "Name" column is empty then bind to "Other" column, otherwise bind to "Name" column. Anyone know the right syntax, keep getting object not set to reference. I'm doing this in VB.Net.
In the datapager, is there any way to hide the page number when the resultset is less than the pagesize. The number '1' is printed and it just looks like an orphan. I only want to show page numbers when the result set is larger than the pagesize
I'm new to ASP.net (and coding in general) and I was very impressed about how easy is to learn enough to create something useful :)
Unfortunately, now I'm stuck on a problem involving gridview sorting and paging: I created a master gridview bound to an sqldatasource, I enabled sorting and paging and then I linked it to a detailsview to enable editing and inserting.
In addition, I set up two other gridviews whose datasources depend on the master gridview.
When a user selects a row and modifies it in the detailsview, the sort takes place and the row is often moved to another page. This can be a little confusing, especially because there are other controls relying on the selected row of the master gridview.
There's a way to find and select the page of the selected row after gridview's databind and sort take place? I tried creating a dataview to search the index of the selected datakey in the databound event of my gridview, but it doesn't work, because it seems that the rows aren't sorted yet. Maybe I should choose another event?
