I have a nested gridview dynamically added. It seems I resolved all issues with the loading this control on a parent page along with other controls and I can trigger the edit of the first level - the master part of the gridview. However, I cannot trigger the edit on a child gridview.
OnRowEditing="grdChildGridEdit_RowEditing"
The master and the child gridviews have objectdatasources in a markup but I have to do the additional data binding after the loading the control on the parent page (see the code below). I'm doing that additional data binding only for the master gridview that is working fine and shows the data for the master and the child gridviews. When I click the Edit button on the master gridview it shows text boxes for the editing but when I click the Edit button on the child gridview it's doing nothing and moreover the editing mode for the master gridview is going back to the initial stage (labels).
I was trying to trigger it throughuse the registering the event:
I coded in code behind to dynamically generate a gridview as the columns of the gridview changes based on user selection. In the gridview I have dynamically generated controls like textbox, dropdown list etc.I have a few filtering options about, for example: listbox which will postback on change and causes the gridview content to change as well.My problem is: since the controls are randomly generated and every postback will read dataset from database and reload, the naming of the controls are dynamically generated too.
So I take all my current query and through it into my gridview and it works great. What I need to do is grab some data from antoher query and add on columns if anything exists in the data. How can i create columns dynamically and add them onto my existing gridview if data exists.
Sql = Select intMetricId, strBenchmarkName, intBenchmark from tblbenchmark. myDataTable = New DataTable myDatatable = GetData(sql) mygridview.Datasource = mydatatable mygridview.databind
So strBenchmarkName would be the new column heading name and then all the 12 rows of data would be the inbenchmark if any exists.
How can i new columns on an existing gridview if anything exists in the datasource.
I have gridview which auto generate column is false, and I add some template columns, databind with a class ClassA . it works fine. now, I need add some columns to this gridview. the problem is: I do not know the # of columns that will be added (it is dynamic), and the data with these columns is in ClassA, but it is a array (or list). so, there is no public property for these data, only the array.
now, what I did is: I dynamically add template column to the gridview (column header ...), so, it shows the correct columns in the gridview, but how can I bind the data? I found some example, i.e.
[URL]
but it is for aleady know the data field (which is a public property in the class). all I have is just a array, and I need bind them to the newly created columns in sequence.
I create a gridview dynamically to fit the contents of a datatable...This form will have other dataatbles thrown at it but for the moment I am only working on one to work out the details of the process.I will post all my code below...the problem is this. The code successfully geenrates the gridview the way I want however...whenever I select a row all the cells including the header cells dissapears [code]...
I m developing attendence report sheet into the gridview.My gridview content the textbox which i want load the data from the database on page load event.Plz anyone help me how can i set the textbox value from database.
I have a gridview that is populating from a SQL DB and working fine. However, based upon certain data I find in fields in the SQL table, I want to place a 'n' or a 'y' in extra columns in the gridview that I am assuming need to be templatefields. My thought was I could maybe add 8 template columns and then I could put a 'y' in the appropriate column based upon the data I find the table. For the life of me, I cannot figure out how to do this. I want to do this at rowdatabound time ( i think) but I just cannot find out how to, in my code, put that 'y' in the columns. Is this the right way to do this or do I need to do it another way? How do I get that 'y' in the proper column?
i created a gridview with two columns and 8 rows dynamically. All the rows are empty and editable at runtime. I am giving column names for this grid from some other .aspx page by passing column names using querystring.Because i am using this grid for three different pairs of column names. i would like to know how to apply Required Field Validator, Regular Expression Validator and Range Validator on Gridview textboxes. So that by using those validators i want to validate user inputs. And i would also like to know how to add rows at runtime for this grid.
I am using ASP.net 2.0 and C#.net for this.(Visual Studio 2005)
I have a page that I am creating 5 separate GridViews on, depending on the button the user clicks, a different GridView will show up. On a few of the GridView's there is a need for paging, so in the CodeBehind I did the following billingGridView.ID = "BillingGridView"
Is tehre anyway to set the HeaderText dynamically on a gridview? I'm trying the below, it kind of works, but the problem is on the initial load nothing shows up, but when I postback then the new text populates: grdvMyTest.HeaderRow.Cells[5].Text = GetTheCalculatedDate();
I've tried that in both Page_Load and grdMyTest_Load, but same thing happens in both. When the page initial loads the column header text is blank, when I click something causing a postback it pops up. I don't have a IsPostBack check around that line, so it should be running regradless. I'm guessing I'm doing it at the wrong event, either too eariler or too late.
I have created one user control in which I have taken a gridview. Columns of this gridview are getting generated dynamically. (i.e. I read Column name from Xml file) But now I want my first coloumn of this gridview as a checkbox field.
I have a page with a gridview in which I currently populate with a stored procedure. There is an additional column I want to add to the gridview and populate (either dynamically or with a sqldatasource). Though I'm not sure how? If I create it dynamically, I don't know which gridview event to use (I would guess the rowcreated event)? Which is better or is there a better alternative to what I've proposed?
I got GridView with 2 columns both are Template field with drop down list. What I need to do is someting like when user select course 3/3A/2A/2B , the type column will auto select pratical option dynamically. When select RTT /FTT/BTT , the type column will select Theory option. Can someone tell me how to work on this thing.
I want to create columns in gridview dynamically based on rows in a table and each gridview colum should have a checkbox. When I Click the save button, I want to save the checkbox state. How Can I do this ?
I need a GridView with 6 columns, one of which ("ItemID") is a HyperLink who's URL and text is determined from the C# code as I will get that data from an SQL database
INITIALLY, what I wanted to do, which would have been easy as pie, is:
[Code]....
HOWEVER, this does not work because every row in the Item ID column is filled with "System.Web.UI.WebControls.HyperLink". Apparently, this is what the HyperLink's toString() method returns. Apparently, you can't just throw a HyperLink into a DataRow and call it a day. I need to know how to make this ItemID column into such a HyperLink. It doesn't necessarily HAVE to be a HyperLink control, it just has to be able to call my javascript function on the aspx page, "popUp(URL)"
To give you a visualization of what I'm trying to achieve: this is a change log for an inventory system. The ItemID column indicates what item was altered. However, simply just having a number there doesn't say much, so I'm trying to create a link with the text, for example, "42 (motherboard x)". In other words reader["ItemID"] + " (" + reader["Description"] + ")", and that link will run a javascript function I have called popUp(URL) which takes a URL and opens it in a new window of specific size and location, to view that item's details.
I've tried various other methods such as disabling AutoGenerateColumns and manually create a HyperLinkField, but to no avail, because I couldn't get it to run my javascript function that way.
I want to create a gridview with the first column being the Job Number and then a variable number of subsequent column which are fordates. This grid is a data entry for hours worked on a particular date for a particular job. I wrote the code to get the correct number of columns and column headers but I am having trouble getting textboxes into the grid cells.
public partial class _Default : System.Web.UI.Page { #region constants
I have a gridview that is built using a objectdatasource and set to autogenerate the columns based on that source, on some other pages i have a gridview that is built within the page with template fields and so on..
in that gridview i have a field that displays the time value like so
