Forms Data Controls :: Bind A Value In The Form When There Is A Null Value Previously In The Database (SQL)?

I am using a FormView control. The allows me to update records in the database. However, when a database field is null I can not update the field on the form. It works fine when the field is not a null value. I am not using any code behind (C#) to bind the data or manipulate the data.
I have read that when there is a null value in the database thatthere is no record in the "dataset". Can anyone show me how to bind a value in the form when there is a null value previously.

I have setup my business object to have a create_date and edit_date members both datetime datatypes. My company want to display the create_date and edit_date fields in a gridview for each transaction. The problem i have is that after insterting a record it will have a valid create_date but no edit_date and when displayed in the gridview it defaults to datetime.minvalue (My default). How on earth do i show an empty field in my gridview for a null datetime field in the database?
I am using similar architecture to the Imar Spaanjaars example of a tiered solution. With a few small tweeks it has worked well for me for ages. I am passing a List<Database> to my object datasource which connects to my gridview.

i have datalist.i can bind datalist but problem is that null value does not bind.but all values are not null.
my scenerio is asign click btn click then view open then insertion and save.if free class btn click then another view open and then insertion...in asign class it can bind but free class not bind.while i m providing day and period also.so why they canot bind?

I have a database field called ImageLocation, I have the ImageUrl property bound to: Eval("ImageLocation", "{0}")I would like to bind the Visble property to false if the ImageLocation is null data. I can not figure out how to set the control properly, currently the Datalist shows me all the data and when the image location is null it shows me the name of the Hyperlink control which happens to be Hyperlink2.

I am attempting to bind data from a dropdown list that was populated from another datasourceID. I've bolded what I believe is relevant to this issue in the code below. But basicly its binding the proper county on the pull down menu but when I hit form submit it dosnt postback that info instead its null.

I have build a usercontrol in asp.net, and there is a property like the following.
Everything works fine when the bound value is an integer. However, if the bound field return a null from database, it will return a invalid cast error.
change to a nullable int is not desirable because it changes the how programmer work with the control's property in code-behind.

I have a form and stored procedure that inserts the data from the form. It works fine except that if a field isn't filled in it doesn't insert a NULL into sql it inserts "".
I've tried a few different ways but none seem to insert NULL, the one below still inserts "", can anyone point me in the right direction.
Here is the required part of the code, if you require more just let me know.

So if I enter nothing into address1 field it should write NULL to screen but it always writes NOT NULL.

One task that I would like to make a lot easier, is to be able to toggle a control's visibility to off/false if a particular database field is null. Is there an expression I can put in the visibility='<%# %>' part of my code that could handle this?

I have created an asp.net customizable gridview where user will be able to add and delete data. Now I face some proplem with this gridview. now I want to add a dropdown list (which is dynamically bind with database) inside the grid. I created code and it bind well. when the page is post back previous selected dropdown list value lose and set to selectedIndex=0; For this reason I used if(!page.Ispostback) and put the dropdown binding code inside this. I'm using SqlDataSource and at the point of adding a record, I've called SqlDataSource_UploadNewsLetter_Inserting. In here, I'm testing a value, and if it's true, I need to stop the insert from taking place. But how can I stop the database insert at this point?

on my aspx I have the below DDL

If the user does not select an item I get an exception when i call the ObjectDataSource Method and DAL as below to insert into database
ProfileObj.InsertParameters["ColorId"].DefaultValue = ColorDDL.SelectedValue.ToString();
What I want to do is insert a database NULL instead.

This is probably a simple question, but I can't seem to find an answer. One of my web pages has an ASP.NET FormView and two SqlDataSource controls. I need to show data from both datasource controls in the FormView. Most of the data will come from datasource1, with 2 or 3 items coming from datasource 2. The way I am trying to do this is by adding a label to the formview, then use custom data binding to get the data from datasource2. However, I can't seem to figure out the syntax for the bind statement
