In vs2008 and sql2005, I want to edit gridview..
In edit template I want a dropdownlist that must show that row's cell's value as the first value and remaing values should come down in the dropdown.

Now I face some proplem with this gridview. now I want to add a dropdown list (which is dynamically bind with database) inside the grid. I created code and it bind well. when the page is post back previous selected dropdown list value lose and set to selectedIndex=0; For this reason I used if(!page.Ispostback) and put the dropdown binding code inside this. Here I faced a problem. The problem is when I want to add data inside grid the dropdownlist missin bind. How can I overcome this problem? For your kind observation I given entire code below:

I have a custom page (Page 1) in SharePoint where I have a repeater control. From Page1 I open Page2. This is where I generate a collection of object which i use to bind repeater control in Page1. For the first time everythings work fine. If I have 5 objects to bind, repeater control shows 5 elements.
Now assume, I have 5 elements in page 1. When I open page two It carried over same 5 elements. I delete 1 element and send 4 element as collection to Page 1. In page 1 after I databind the repeater control, it doesn't display correctly. It deletes the wrong element.
I debug my code. The collection which i am binding to repeater shows the correct elements. But while displaying i is not showing correctly.
I declared my template as follows

Is it possible to bind two separated datasources to one dropdown list such that they are both alphabetically sorted and seprated by some sort of line. I know there is a way to insert elemets manually, but I'm not sure of the 2 separate datasources. I've serached this forum and while there were several posts none of them offered any workable solution.

Am using a SQL Datasource have searched for this error some of the answers seem extremely complex and I can't figure them out, surely a simple tasks like this has to be easy to bind back to the database from several drop down lists.
I have a formview in which I have a dropdown list that displays a list of owners. In case the list does not have the correct owner for the user I have added functionality for them to add a new owner to the database table that populates the list. I did this by including a textbox and an Insert button in a panel. When the user clicks the new owner insert button I would like to re-databind the dropdown list so that they will see the owner they added and be able to select it.
When I add ddl_owners.databind to my button click code it gives me an error. "Databinding methods such as Eval(), XPath(), and Bind() can only be used in the context of a databound control."
I don't want to re-databind the entire formview because then it deletes all the information on the form that the user has already keyed in.
I have "Testdtabse" it's consists of the Table like aaa,bbb,ccc,ddd,eee etc.. I want to bind that table names in to My droipdown list box..

But basicly its binding the proper county on the pull down menu but when I hit form submit it dosnt postback that info instead its null.

i have a dropdown with month names if the user has data for the month tht is selected then gridview displays the rows with day nos as per the month but if the gridview has no data for the same the dropdown or gridview via some event should call a insert procedure to insert data into the table for tht month with daynos ad rebind the gridview witht the rows just created
View 6 RepliesI have a nested gridview dynamically added. It seems I resolved all issues with the loading this control on a parent page along with other controls and I can trigger the edit of the first level - the master part of the gridview. However, I cannot trigger the edit on a child gridview.

The master and the child gridviews have objectdatasources in a markup but I have to do the additional data binding after the loading the control on the parent page (see the code below). I'm doing that additional data binding only for the master gridview that is working fine and shows the data for the master and the child gridviews. When I click the Edit button on the master gridview it shows text boxes for the editing but when I click the Edit button on the child gridview it's doing nothing and moreover the editing mode for the master gridview is going back to the initial stage (labels).

There are 2 DropDown one is "Category" other is "sub_category"
I want to show data in "sub_category" DropDown according to "category" Dropdown selected value.
But when "Category=C1" data should bind in DropDown from Database Table1 and when "Category=C2" or "Category=C3" data should bind in DropDown from Database Table2.

I have a gridview which has editable columns.
The gridview lives in a formview, which lives in another formview.
Inside one column is an end date. This column has a textbox which gets it's value when I choose a date from a calendar control. However, when I choose a date from the calendar control, the program crashes instead of populating the text box.

When the editing is done, the user clicks on "Update" and the changes are written into the database. Additionally i set a "ChangeMarker" in the database that the data record has been changed by the user.

I have a category and a subcategory column in a Jqgrid. I have enabled inline editing, both category and subcategory are dropdownlists columns (edittype:'select'). I need to filter the subcategory list based on the selected category. I wonder how can I acheive this functionlity? I tried the below event but its not working for me

I have a databound gridview using datatable as datasource. Template fields are used to edit the row content.This cell value should get updated in the datatable on text_changed event without using gridView edit. Is it possible to overload the GridViewEditEventHandler for this purpose.
