Forms Data Controls :: Changing The Color Of An Individual Data Point In A Columns Chart

Feb 7, 2011

In my web forms application I have a site.master page with an update panel (Java Script ToolKit). Inside the update panel I have a survey and a columns chart to show its results. The chart properties are

visible = false
ImageStorageMode = UseImageLocation
RenderType = ImageTag

When the user votes, his/her vote is stored in a sql server table The chart is rebound to its data source
The chart visibility is set to true and the survey's questions are hidden. I've been trying to set the columns for the maximum and minimum values to a different color using the code I found in "Samples Environment for Microsoft Chart Controls" [URL] under Working with Chart Data Data Manipulation Finding Data Points Find Maximum and Minimum Values:

[Code]....

I have not got the columns to change their color. I have put the code inside every event handler I could think of (after it failed to work inside the page load event handler): Inside the chart Init, load, and pre_render handlers. Inside the click event handler for the voting button (before and after I call the chart.DataBind() method). Inside the page pre_render handler. Inside the ToolKitScriptManager pre_render handler. I checked the code behind the environment samples. All, to no avail.

Forms Data Controls :: Bind Data Returned From Queries Into Individual Columns In Gridview?

Jul 22, 2010

Is it possible to bind data to specfic columns in Gridview?

I mean, if I send a query to my database and it returns 1 column, then bind that column to the first column in the gridview, then send another query and bind the resulting column from that query to the second column without erasing the data of the first column etc etc.

Forms Data Controls :: Hyperlink Columns In DataGrid Control Navigate To Individual Page?

Nov 9, 2010

I also have a working application that popukates my datagrid with valid data rows from my DataBase. What I cant figure out is how to get each of the hyperlink lables to NAVIGATE to the correct and corresponding aspx page!

For example I have 5 rows in the datagrid and each row has its own hyperlink, each row contains contact and a short profile on 5 diffrent companies. For example when i click on let say row 3 that has (eg) Jimmy's Big Prawn's Restaurant listed in the the datagrid, I want to be navigated to a webform page dedicated to Jimmy's Big Prawn Restaurant.

[Code]....

I am guesing it has to do with the bolded text above, but "details.aspx" is just an empty webform, I would like the hyperlink to point to (eg) JimmBigPrawnRestaurant.aspx.

Forms Data Controls :: Chart Controls - Point (Scatter) Graph?

Jan 18, 2011

This seems like it should be extremely simple. I have a list of x,y cords in SQL table that I am pulling out into a reader. I am then trying to bind my points to a point (have to use it since I can't find scatter) chart control.

Chart1.Series("Series1").Points.Databind(myReader, "Xpos", "Ypos", "Tooltip=CName")

Where Xpos = the x cord column and Ypos = the y cord column.The chart generates but my problem is that I am getting multiple x values that are the same. For example I have (67, 45) and (67,54).I would think there would be one x value for 67 with the two points on it, at 45 and at 54.Instead I am getting 2 x values listed, both for 67, one with 45 and one with 54.

Just as a test I listed these values in excel (in 2 columns) and did a scatter plot and it generated what I expected (2 items plotted on the same x value, one above the other. Is there a setting I am missing or does the chart control "Point" not have this capability.

Forms Data Controls :: Fill In The Color Beneath The Line Of A StepLine MS Chart?

Jul 14, 2010

I need to create a chart, preferably using MS Chart Controls, that looks like a stepline chart with the exception that color has to be filled in under the line. An area chart won't block off values like a stepline chart (it creates a direct, or curved, line from one point to another). An area chart does fill in the color the way I would like it to be but I want a stepline effect. What I guess I want is a StepArea chart. I would imagine that it should be possible but I haven't been able to configure it the way I want. how I can do this?

Forms Data Controls :: Changing Background Color Of A Cell In A Datatable?

Feb 24, 2010

I am reading a datareader, populating a datatable and then when finished populating I bind to a gridview. Right now, I am placing a literal in the cell of the rows based upon date differences....sort of a textual gant chart. What I want to be able to do is change the background color of the cell I am putting these literals in. I am including the code below where I am populating the cells with the text. Does anyone know how to make the background color change? I know that in a normal gridview on datarowbind I can change it but I don't know how to do this on a cell by cell basis within the code I have below.

Forms Data Controls :: Changing Columns Row By Row?

Nov 28, 2010

I have a DataGrid that is bound to a data set. Down column 1, I need each row in the column to be a link to another page or just plain text - which I can determine post-bind.

e.g.

<table>
<tr>
<td>Row 1</td>
</tr>
<tr>
<td><a href="page2.html>Row2</a></td>
</tr>
</table>

Can this be done in a DataGrid? I need to give the user an indication in the cell that there's a link versus no link to another page.

Forms Data Controls :: Back Color Striping - Translate A Classic Asp Component To A 3.5 Chart Control

May 6, 2010

I am trying to translate a chart from a classic asp componant to a 3.5 chart control. I have two problems so far:

1) (hopefully easy) For the XAxis and YAxis titles (not labels), how do you make these titles bold?

2) (seems impossible with .net) How can I break up the background color so that certain parts of the background are different colors? In the legacy control, the original programmer could drill down control to the y-axis lines for coloring the background.

Example in a Y-axis with lines from 0-100 with 10 intervals:

a) 0-50: the background color would be BLUE
b) 50-80: the background would be GRAY
c) 80-100: the backgound color would be RED

As far as I can see, with the .net chart control, you can only have a single color or a single gradient of two colors, but not striped as I am trying to describe above. It seems that if an old classic asp componant has this striping functionality, the .net control has got to have it somehow.

Forms Data Controls :: Changing Columns In Listview?

Jan 8, 2011

I have certain columns in my DataSource such as "ID", "StartTime", "EndTime", etc.I would like to present them a bit differently in the listview.for example, I want to present the "StartTime" and the "EndTime" in ("hh:mm:ss") form, and would like to show only IDs smaller than 10.I thought about writing the code in

protected void ListView1_ItemDataBound(object sender, ListViewItemEventArgs e)
{
}

I have no problem writing the conditions in code behind, but the question is:since the ListView1_ItemDataBound event handler is fired for every column, how can I know in which one I am concerned, and so which condition to use?for example, if it is a "StartTime" then I want to have (DateTime)item.ToString("hh:mm:ss"), but if it is "ID", I only want to check if ID<5.

Forms Data Controls :: Changing Row Color In Grid View Based On A Boolean Field Using Rowdatabound Event

Aug 4, 2010

I know that variations of this same question have been posed numerous times - but I can't quite seem to find the exact solution.

I would like any row in my gridview where the boolean field "Approved" is True to be shaded gray. Here is the code that I'm using, but every row ends up being gray, regardless of the value in that "Approved" field. My guess is that I'm not correctly evaluating the boolean value in this field (which is actually a yes/no field in MS Access), Not sure if I should be reading that value as "-1", "Yes" or "True" or "NotNull"? Anyway, here is the code:
