Forms Data Controls :: Creating A Website Using VS2008 And Connected To A Firebird Database?
May 3, 2010
Ive created a web site using VS2008 ASP.net and connected to a Firebird Database.
I have a page that has a GridView(added at design time) and have connected to a table at runtime.
[Code]....
All good as the table contents are displayed at 10 rows per page. Ive set the Property AllowSorting to True. Has anyone got examples on how to code the sorting? Ive had a look round the net but all the examples Ive tried dont work.
when a website is entered in a browser it should take to a login page (in localhost) and if the login succeed then the site should be loaded else an error page should be displayed. the login page will be connected to local database. how to do this?
I am planning to develop around 4 product catalogue websites. The functionality of all the websites would be same. however the design, images and css would be different.
All the 4 websites will use the same admin panel, forums and database(MS Access) also.
How should I create such a system.
I dont understand what kind of folder structure should I create.
I would like to create following kind of folder structure.
I have created a database in Access 2007 for a university. Now, a new functionallity is required. What I need to do is a search function where students can search the database online. Now, they can only search using a front-end which is read-only, but they need to use a computer with Microsoft Access (or Runtime) and they need to be connected to the back-end which is located on a server.
make the database to work online? I am a novice to web programming. Which is the easiest way and how do I start?
The database has fields with Attachments. The students can search the database and open Attachments connected to the found posts, this part needs to be online. The personnel can edit and add data using a more complex front-end. This does not need to be online, they can still use Access.
Example: we have different articles in a database like cars, jewelery, boats. The data related to these articles is different in the tables. I have to show that data in a textboxes and let the user change those data and update. I can do the update and reading the data from database. But the problems is for each item the no.of columns and rows will differ.
My task is I need to get the data according to the use selection in the table with textboxes. I dont know which container (gridview, formview or etc) will suites for my requirement. send me any sample code or any tutorial related to this.
Note: showing the data in a table should be a constraint. Because I should show data row wise (each row contains 3 textboxes and 3 labels (DB table column names))
I would like to create those checked/selected rows in gridview to SQL server database with a button click. For example, an user checks 2 rows in the gridview, and clicks on the create button. I would want the selected row/s to be created to the database. How would I go about doing this?
Before my time at the company they paid for a very expensive website written in asp.net and dotnetnuke. Absolutely terrible but there's very little that can be done about that now. They won't give us access to the SQL Server for some bizarre reason but they've given us FTP access.
Is there some way I can install a database manager (like phpMyAdmin) using FTP? I think I've found the username and password but I'm not familiar with asp so it's quite a confusing system.
i want to create an event scheduler which takes the event name and event date from the database and shows it on a calenderview control. i have done the rest of the stuff but i have to click on a data to see an event of the date it is not shown otherwise. can anybody tell how can i show the events that i get from db in calendar control when the page having the calender control is opened?
I have an .aspx page (with code behind) pulling in data from an Access database and has a gridview with a select that shows product details in a detailview and shows a picture of the product... it is all working correctly, but I need to develop another page for editing a selected product and have no idea where to start... I'd prefer a popup screen launched from en EDIT button with textboxes and an UPDATE button... does anyone have any clues how to do this? Here's my .aspx with the code-behind under it:
I have a need to add a new report to my page, the differnent parts of the page are all using a objectdatasource to populate the data. The new report because of all the data being returned i have started to use a repeater and a table in the ItemTemplate. Just binding the objectdatasource to the repeater works fine, but returns all the records and causes the page to be very long. I found this link for adding paging to repeater, but its setup different than what i have
[URL]
Is there any way to use what i have already and add paging to the repeater?
I'm trying to use the Entity Framework with a Firebird database in Visual Studio 2010
Useful info:
Windows 7 64-bit Visual Studio 2010 Ultimate Firebird 2.5.0 Firebird .Net Data Provider 2.6 DDEX 2.0.5
I've done:
Installed Firebird server (and it works and I can connect to a database) Downloaded DDEX (I've run the registry files) used the gacutil on the FirebirdSql.Data.FirebirdClient.dll and checked that it indeed was installed and it was Modyfied the machine.config for both 2.0 and 4.0 in 32-bit and 64 bit folders to include the provider in the element When I try to add a connection in the server explorer I choose "Firebird Data Source" and the Firebird data provider and press continue. I the "Add Connection" dialog window I fill in the info "data source, database, user, password.." and press ok and then I get the following error:
Failed to find or load the registered .Net Framework Data Provider Also when I try to add a new Entity Data Model I cannot see the Firebird option.. I can only see SQL options. I really need help on this one as I've spent many hours on this and I cannot get it to work.. I've also read other related questions on SO,
On my webpage, jobs.aspx, I have a gridview which is populated from my database. I would like it so that when a row in the gridview is clicked, the ID of the row from my database can then be passed through as a query string to a second webpage, details.aspx, where more information about what was clicked on will be displayed.
I'm confident about being able to pass the query string, I just need help with getting the corresponding row's data ID from my database and making the gridview click-able, which will be the interaction which specifies which ID to be retrieved.
iam developing web page where i want to create trigger on insert command. iam using vs2008 vb.net and in built sql express 2005 which is in app_data..... under this my datbase.mdf i can see tables, views, stored procedures, functions, synonmes, types ,assemblies. but there is no triggers folder. how to craete trigger in this
I have a question related to MDF file that store out data in. Actually I'm a newbie in ASP and I found a project that has ASP.NET plus C# so I want to start that file so placed all the file in C:inetpubwwwroot. There is a folder that call App_Data and has a database file end with .MDF Now how can I open this file to see the whole tables? I have Microsoft server 2008 Developer and I have VS 2008 and how can I start my ASP page with database loaded?
I can't see it nowhere in Visual Studio's Solution Explorer. The tutorial that I am following is using the Northwind database and hence the need to add the code line "using NorthWindTableAdatpter;" statement. So I thought I needed to add "using myDBTableAdapters" statement in my code which I did, but it's giving an error saying:
"The type or namespace name 'myDbTableAdapters' could not be found (are you missing a using directive or an assembly reference?)"
What's wrong? Where is the class for myDB's table adapter? I searched the .xsd file, but there's no mention of "myDBTableAdapters".It's not there in the Solution Explorer.
So i am developing app according to official asp.net tutorials DAL Tutorial. So i created dataset connected to filebased sql database where are tables VIDEO, GENRE, LOAN! VIDEO has FK to GENRE and LOAN has FK to VIDEO! I tried to create method GetVideoByLoan with this sql command:
SELECT VIDEO.ID_VIDEO, VIDEO.TITLE, VIDEO.DIRECTOR, VIDEO.YEAR, GENRE.TITLE AS GENRE_TITLE FROM VIDEO INNER JOIN GENRE ON VIDEO.ID_GENRE = GENRE.ID_GENRE INNER JOIN LOAN ON VIDEO.ID_VIDEO = LOAN.ID_VIDEO WHERE (LOAN.USERID = @USERID OR @USERID = cast(cast(0 as binary) as uniqueidentifier) AND(LOAN.ISLOAN = @ISLOAN)
Everything is ok, no problem to return the results, but when i try this sql:
SELECT LOAN.ID_LOAN, LOAN.USERID, LOAN.ID_VIDEO, VIDEO.TITLE, VIDEO.DIRECTOR, VIDEO.YEAR, GENRE.TITLE AS GENRE_TITLE[code]...
i get error.Failed to enable constraints. One or more rows contain values violating non-null, unique, or foreign-key constraints.
Description: An unhandled exception occurred during the execution of the current web request. Please review the stack trace for more information about the error and where it originated in the code.
Exception Details: System.Data.ConstraintException: Failed to enable constraints. One or more rows contain values violating non-null, unique, or foreign-key constraints.
If i run above sql command in query editor everything is fine, but when i try to access it through dataset the above error apperas, despite that first sql was working. I also tried to remove VIDEO DataTable from DataSet and drop it there from server explorer again but it not helped.
write a program so that we can find the comp port of a modem connected to the system..Example:- system com port or usb modem port ID should be automatically been displayed to the drop down box creagted in the web form.
In Visual studio 2008, if I run a website, then the website is running in other url. But it is running perfect in visual studio 2005.When I click the Asp.net configuration setting itself, the url is redirected into someother webserver.
