So im building a table from codebehind that plops data into each cell like so -

This just doesnt work, i was wondering if there was something else i could try to get this working....
i want to make a table to look like this..

while the sizes & qty r called from a size table in the database.
First, what I am showing here works fine, and I know how to do this if the nested control comes from the same bound table. I could leave it at that, but I don't like SQL code in my aspx page, and want to move it. I'm keeping it simple here, but I can move it to a data access layer later on..... for now, I want to understand what's going on when the page loads and the nested control is rendered and populated. WHAT I LEARN FROM THIS WILL BENEFIT ME ACROSS THE BOARD - NOT just for this instance!!!
My question is, how to grab the SQL query from the aspx page for the NESTED control and move it to the codebehind. I'd LOVE to also move the Selected Value parameter if possible, but mainly want to get the SQL out of the page. I KNOW HOW TO DO THIS for a GridView or any control, but I DO NOT know how to do it for a NESTED CONTROL from a different table - i.e. WHERE it fires (on GridViewEditing or GridViewUpdating or PageLoad....) so I can put in the SQL where it belongs.... and I'm PRETTY darn SURE this can be done without a 'foreach' loop. For discussion's sake here, imagine
1. DATABASE: simple table with employee_ID, employee_name, employee_city as fields
2. DATABASE: simple table containing all cities (city, cityval)
2. simple GridView that displays these 3 fields in same order ON VIEW
3. Template field for city. On PAGE LOAD, this is a simple label bound to the 'city' field. HOWEVER - On EDIT (with edit button), the field changes to a nested DropDownList that is bound to the 'city' table, NOT to the employee table.
4. Selected value is the current city for employee The PROC you see here in the edit item SQL is actually SELECT * FROM [cities] ORDER BY [city_name]

ALL I want to do is move the SQL Query in the EDIT template above to the code behind. I just don't know WHERE or WHEN in the code this fires and how to handle it when the table is different from the original GridView table. AND the cboCity.SelectedValue, if possible.

The data displays in the gridview control fine with both edit & delete options but when I attempt to delete, it has no effect. How do I force removal of the relevant row from both gridview and table? Most of the documentation I have unearthed shows how to achieve this when connected to a SQL table which is clearly not the case here.

I am building a .net page and need to display some data residing in a database. Some of it's working, some not. I would like to use a table to display the data with the format below..

The question data and answer count rows are generated with no issue. However, the rows containing the barchart are problematic. Not sure how to create a new instance of a chart on the fly and hook in all the methods, etc. and get the control added to and displayed in the tablecell. Been looking for examples to create the chart on the fly with no real results.

I am stuck in chart controls...Here is my prob... There is a ListBox containing some items...when user selects multiple items from the list box I want to generate a dynamic table with the number of columns same as that of the number items selected in the listbox. And for each selected item I want to show a seperate chart in the columns...Currently I want the same chart control for every selected item (i.e. a static hard coded chart that i will replace later by dynamic values)....I am using a method that draws a chart control using a sample dataset... I am calling it each time when a new column is created..Also the DrawChart method executes for the first column only and throws an index out of range exception! after the first execution...my code is not working...here

I got a table in a formview where i placed lots of textboxes and dropdownlists inside the table because I need these textboxes and dropdownlists on a background image.
the data on textboxes and dropdownlists that are inside the table is unable to be saved into the database when i pressed the "submit" button. Other textboxes and dropdownlists that are not inside the table work fine. Here are the HTML code for the table:

Example: we have different articles in a database like cars, jewelery, boats. The data related to these articles is different in the tables. I have to show that data in a textboxes and let the user change those data and update. I can do the update and reading the data from database. But the problems is for each item the no.of columns and rows will differ.

Now when I click on the Header text of any of the columns of the GV, the Gridview gets sorted according to the data in that column; however the order in which the data is represented in the database table remains the same. So whenever I am selecting some row in the GridView for performing any action on that row, it selects some different row in the database table.
EG: Say in GridView I have columns A B C with some data and say the corrressponding table in the database which stores these values, has columns A1 B1 C1when I click THE HEADER "A" in the GridView the GridView gets sorted according the data in that column, however this change is not reflected in the table in the database.. it still shows the data in the same order as when entered at the beginning.
Am trying to build a page that will display one record at a time. That is the user searches a records table and the page displays the record. Than when the user us done making any changes and clicks save, i want the page to update the records table. So far, i have the page displaying the search results, but the save functionality is not working. Actually after changing an entry and the save button is clicked, the records change are currently reverting back to the old data that they want to change it from.
