View 3 Repliesi am using gridview to bind data from stored procedure. When i test query it get succeeded and shows all the data but when i run the page it does not show anything
View 3 RepliesGridview is not being populated now that i built my objectdatasource in the code behind.. why. If i build the source on the aspx page and configure it that way, it returns results.. but when i try to build it in the code behind it just displays my empty template for the gridview.

This problem is driving me nuts. I have labels inside a gridview. When i reference them, i keep getting a null error. This is definatly that it cant find the labels inside the template. below is my code that i am using.

I have GridView in UserControl (ascx) who is in another ascx.

I'm trying to retreive values entered by users in the textboxes in the footer of the gridview and insert these values into another sql table.My code is as follows :-
protected void GridView2_RowCommand(object sender, GridViewCommandEventArgs e)
{
if(e.CommandName.Equals("addnew"))
{
TextBox t1 = (TextBox)GridView2.FooterRow.FindControl("tfrm");
string frm = t1.Text;
TextBox t2 = (TextBox)GridView2.FooterRow.FindControl("tsub");
string sub = t2.Text;
string cmd = "insert into suggestions values('" + frm + "','" + sub + "','c','c')";
con.Open();
SqlCommand com = new SqlCommand(cmd,con);
int a = com.ExecuteNonQuery();
GridView2.DataBind();
con.Close();
}
}
But the strings 'frm' and 'sub' returns null values.
I have been struggling with this and it must be somthing I am missing. I have Griview and go to edit te row and when I click update and step through the rowupating procedure the value for CollectAmtEdit and txtCollectDate give te old values. If I do not bind them originally then they return blanks after I enter data in them. Here is the form Logic:

I'm having trouble getting selected rows in asp.net. i tried to debug it and found out that the answer to "chkRow.Checked" is always false eventhough it is selected. I'm new to asp.net.here is my code.
Protected Sub btnApproveYes_Click(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As EventArgs) Handles btnApproveYes.Click
Dim modID As String = String.Empty
For Each row As GridViewRow In gvModule.Rows

I have a search box on a web application that is to use a query I have built in Access to search through projects to find any that are related to the text entered in the search box.
The query in Access is just made up of parameters that use wildcards to search through all the fields. In Access the query works fine and returns the correct data but when I try and link this all up to a ListView in Visual Studio, the ListView just diplays the message "No data was returned"
Below is my page-behind code, hopefully you can see why it is not working but it looks like it should work to me.
[Code]....
I have a page where users can search by company name, the data list is pulled from an Excel spreadsheet hosted on the site. I'm seeing some strange results returned, for example:
In the company field say there are the following entries:
Anns Company
Bernards Business
Company B
Dermots Domain
Property Company
If I search for "Com" I get the following returns (correct):
Anns Company
Company B
Property Company
If I search for "Der" I get my "Sorry there are no matching results" message (Incorrect)
If I search for "Ann" I get the following returns (Correct):
Anns Company
And if I search for "e" I get the following returns (Correct):
Bernards Business
Dermots Domain
Property Company
It seems random as to why it doesn't return some values, I've tried moving rows around to see if that's the problem but it makes no difference. My range is set correctly in the spreadsheet.
When I debug the VB code behind, when I search for something that works correctly e.g. "Com" in the above example, once enter the value and click search Visual Studio begins steping into the code and shows me the contents of the variables however when I search for something that's not working e.g. "Der" and click search it immediatly returns the "Sorry there are no matching results" message and the code behind does not get steped into.
I am trying to return the table of Users and display it on a page which uses a masterpage.
My master page file called AjaxMaster.Master looks like this -

iam using asp.net2.0 with c#, with backend sql server2000
in my client system i have to create dynamically procedure and return the result
but when iam using in my local system the code is working fine but at client system it it not working

I am trying to use a datasource with a dropdownlist. Eventually, my data source method to call a stored procedure and load the datatable is returns, but for now, I am just creating the datatable manually. I need each item to have two attributes, the text, whixh the user will see in the DDL, and the value that the program will retrieve from and store back to the file.
It is partly working in that the DDL has 3 items, however the text for each item reads "System.Data.DataRowView"
I have to be close, but I can't figure out what I am doing wrong.

I'm using a Gridview in VS2008 framework 2.0 to edit a field with standard edit/save/cancel buttons on each row. I have a textbox named TextBox1 in an EditItemTemplate tag, it's value is binded to my field with '<%#Bind("LOGIN_NM")%>'. This is a simple form a took from an old project. My problem is when I try to read the textbox in the GridView1_RowUpdating event, it keeps returning the original value and not the modified value. I spent some time figuring the cells, controls and all so I'm sure I'm reading the right textbox, I have only one. I also tried using:
CType(row.FindControl("TextBox1"), TextBox).Text but I can't get the modified text to store in the database. The exact same thing works in the old project.
I am trying to follow an example from Lesson #25 of [URL] I am not trying to do paging as the above example is doing. I simply want to do a Query and return the the number of rows back in my code behind.
I have a DAL Typed Dataset with the following Query
SELECT COUNT(*) AS Expr1
FROM Reservation
WHERE (DateUsed = @DateUsed) AND (SiteID = @SiteID)
I have a BLL setup for the above as follows:

I've got and SqlDataSource bound to a GridView, and I'd like to return the value of one of the fields from the SqlDataSource during GridView.RowCreated (I think). At the same time, one of the fields I'm returning to the GridView has a Null value, which I'm cool with, but Runtime is complaining about it so how can I get around errors relating to Null values in my tables?
View 8 RepliesI have 2 two listitems. Each list returns different rows. I want to combine both the list rows and disaply it in single grid.
List<somedata> grid1=new List<somedata>
List<somedata> grid2=new List<somedata>
I am getting values in grid1 and grid2. Each list values i am binding to 2 different grids
I want to bind both grid1 and grid2 to the same grid
For example: something like this : grd.datasource=grid1+grid2;
grd.databind();
I am trying to return single string result through a stored procedure and Linq. This works fine when I test the stored procedure but it is not returning the value to the page. The value returned is always 0 which is the return value. This is the stored procedure:
ALTER PROCEDURE Login
@CustomerName nvarchar(50),
@Password nvarchar(50) output
As
Select @Password=Password
From Customers
Where Customers.CustomerName=@CustomerName

I have a formview with both edititem template and item template as following:

</ItemTemplate>
</asp:FormView>
on my code behind, I have:
Sub PFTFormView_ItemUpdating(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As FormViewUpdateEventArgs)
Dim PFTObj As New PFT
Dim PFTDST As New Data.DataSet
Dim newPFTLastName As String = DirectCast(PFTFormView.FindControl("txtPFTLastName"), TextBox).Text
Dim newPFTFirstName As String = DirectCast(PFTFormView.FindControl("txtPFTFirstName"), TextBox).Text
PFTObj.PFTLastName = newPFTLastName
PFTObj.PFTFirstName = newPFTFirstName
PFTObj.PFTHome = DirectCast(PFTFormView.FindControl("txtPFTHome"), TextBox).Text
If PFTObj.UpdatePFT(Session("PFTId")) Then
Me.lblErrorMessage.Text = "PFT Update Successfully"
Else
'
Me.lblErrorMessage.Text = "PFT Update UnSuccessfully"
End If
PFTDST = Nothing
PFTObj = Nothing
end sub
The problem is:
PFTObj.PFTLastName = newPFTLastName
PFTObj.PFTFirstName = newPFTFirstName
PFTObj.PFTHome = DirectCast(PFTFormView.FindControl("txtPFTHome"), TextBox).Text
are not returning the updated value from the form.
I am having trouble with queries because they are not returning the data needed, and I am having trouble figuring out why because I only am testing with 2 records.First I want a query to return all records for one customer as follows:
[Code]....
There are two records with the customerID of 1, but it only returns one,next I try to return only one record, the AccountPrimary or customer_contacts.IsPrimary, but when I add " AND customer_contacts.IsPrimary = 'True' "at the end of my query it then returns both records, but only one IsPrimary = True and the Other = False. Is it backwards? I also tried another method and it returned 30 of the same record and I only have 2
i want to get dynamically the Data Source value from which system iam acessing the website and concatenate in connection String
but still showing null value

How to display empty GridView to insert new record if no data retreived for some record on the result from data table?Actually i am trying to give a user an option to add recrod from Gridview. On result of some query it is perfectly displaying data and a footer row with the insertion textbox but when there is no data in the gridview it is not displaying. It should display with footer having insert textbox.
View 5 Replies I am unable to access the data in the gridview's selected row. I have done this lots of times but must be forgetting something.

I have loaded up a gridview object with data. I have turned on Edit on the grid. It lets me edit the data, but I also want to put some code to check for correct data in each field. I tried to assign a requiredfieldvalitor, comparevaliditor but they don't work. Is there an event I can capture to fire up some code before the grid sves my data?
