i am facing a strange problem putting it in short .... i have two grids... i have grid1 and grid2... now based on row click of firstgrid..i wd take d id from cell(0) of first grid and then fill up the 2nd grid based on tht info selected (id) from the 1st
grid .... here is the code snippet :

now the problem is that : when i click the row for first time it shows into the 2nd grid all fine ...
but whenever i reclick it ..it shows the page with error in javascript that object refrence needed... and page ends with error. why i cant reclick my grid to fill up the data and why is it ending up in javascript error.....

I'm using ClientScript.GetPostBackClientHyperlink in the OnRowCreated event of the GridView to postback when you select a row. I put a column of checkboxes in now and when 1 or many checkboxes in the row are selected I don't want the page to postback. I'm having trouble with this.This is my code:

I have a dropdownlist (drpClients) bound to an object datasource (odsProgramClients). In the dropdown's databound event, I load a dynamic table based on the selected item in the dropdownlist. This all works well. However, if I force a problem in odsProgramClients select method, it continues to the databound event of the dropdown and attempts to load the table, even though dropdownlists underlying select method failed. I wish to stop the databound event from firing if there is a problem in the select method. I have code that traps the error in odsProgramClients select method.

I am having dataset and I want to validate particular column for Integer(Numeric) value.
e.g.
ErrorRows = dt.Select("LEN(Year) <> 4 ")
Above I have to validate Year column for Numeric value otherwise it should give me erroneous records which have data other than numeric.

I have extended GridView in order to have consistent look & feel, paging and sorting. However, when the page is first time loaded, the select method is getting called twice. It works fine when i move between pages in pagination.
Note, i am using Asp.net 2.0.

I have gridview. some columns are data, and some are link buttons. now, I need move these link buttons to a hovermenu. this is done. but I got a javascript exception, and it is because if there is no row was selected in gridview, it will pop this.

The drop down list is used to determine what search criteria will be used to find an invoice. I tried to set the Select method in the switch statement. I don't understand how to set the Select Method and the select parameters programmatically though . I tried a few different ways but can't make the compiler happy. My ODS is in scope in the code behind. I'm not able to access it's properties though. The BAL resides in a separate project that is a ClassLibrary. I also have a using statement for the ClassLibrary project in the code behind.

I am trying to create an event with a gridView and a c# method. So far I am getting this error:
CS1061: 'ASP.contentpage9_aspx' does not contain a definition for 'ImageGridView_OnSelectedIndexChanged' and no extension method 'ImageGridView_OnSelectedIndexChanged' accepting a first argument of type 'ASP.contentpage9_aspx' could be found (are you missing a using directive or an assembly reference?)

I have a gridview that has a sqldatasource for it's data and it works well. I also have four dropdown lists that I need to have filter the data in the grid if they have a value selected. Here's my query:

What I need is if a user selects an Asset_Tag from a dropdown list the gridview should requery with the Asset_Tag as a parameter so only that record gets called up. Is there a way to do this in the selected indexchanged event? The same would hold true for the other DDLs. It seems like if I assigne the datasourse programmatically I lose the builtin sorting ability which isn't acceptible for this application.

I have a gridview which is ShowSelectButton = "False"
I use

to select a gridviewrow but it causes a postback whenever I select a row. Is there a way to allow selecting a gridview row which will not cause a postback??

This might sound kind of dump but i know there is a way out. I have a select button on my gridview which uses a selectcommand. Now i need to grab the result of my selectcommand and if its "Less than 1" then post another grid. I have an idea but i just dont know how to write it.
Here is what i have so far but i think its not working because the select button is attached to the gridview. i am writing this when i double_click my sqldatasource

I would like to select one of the rows of a gridview by default, when the gridview is first created (on databound?).
I know the SelectedValue that I want to select. How can I select that row, i.e. set it as Selected and show it with the SelectedRowStyle, etc.
I see that GridView1.SelectedValue is read only.

How can I programatically call a gridview row when it is loaded based on the primary key. For example, say I have a record in the gridview where the column name is ID (Identity Field) and has the number 37 in it. When the gridview loads up, I need to get the rowindex where the primary key = 37 and have that row automatically selected.
