The drop down list is used to determine what search criteria will be used to find an invoice. I tried to set the Select method in the switch statement. I don't understand how to set the Select Method and the select parameters programmatically though . I tried a few different ways but can't make the compiler happy. My ODS is in scope in the code behind. I'm not able to access it's properties though. The BAL resides in a separate project that is a ClassLibrary. I also have a using statement for the ClassLibrary project in the code behind.
I have SQLDataSource for my gridview. By default it works fine but i need to determine a few things before calling my procedure. By this i mean i need to determine a few things about the fields completed and set a flag to determine where the procedure will look.
I found a few examples online on passing parameters in code behind, but cant seem to get them to work. Here is what i tried and cant get results back. When i execute the procedure on the SQL side with the same parameter values, it works, so i know its returning results, so means my values are not being sent or im doing something really wrong. I have some of the lines commented out so the page can load and display for now.. but i need to get it working with custom parameters and flags.
I have an application which was recently ported from Classic ASP to .NET 3.5. I'm pulling some data from a stored procedure and once retrieved, I'm doing using the Select method on the DataTable in a loop so I don't have to keep going back to the database. It appears that there's something wrong here as I can refresh the page repeatedly and see the memory usage increase by a few megabytes, up to the point where we get an error. If we recycle the app pool in IIS, it starts working again, for a little while.
Is there a memory leak in this method? I did some research on the subject and Microsoft said there was an issue like that in .NET 1.0 and 1.1, but I'm using a higher version.Or, is this something else, such as not managing resources correctly? Here's a snipped of my code:
[Code]....
Initially, this app was using XML instead of a datatable and using XPATH to query the data, but it was too slow. I thought using a dataset with DataTable selects was a better option, but now we found this issue. I was thinking since the loop executes several hundred times that getting all the data and filtering through it on the client was a better choice instead of calling several web methods to get the subsets of data.
I will declarate a attribute, but it gives me an error
This query works fine and returns 1 record from type int:
SELECT TOP 1 DataObjectVersionID FROM tblDataObjectVersionPropertyValueText WHERE PropValue like CAST('00010281' AS ntext) ORDER BY DataObjectVersionID DESC
And when I will declarate a attribute/parameter it gives me an error:
DECLARE @dataObjectVersionId INT SET @dataObjectVersionId = SELECT TOP 1 DataObjectVersionID FROM tblDataObjectVersionPropertyValueText WHERE PropValue like CAST('00010281' AS ntext) ORDER BY DataObjectVersionID DESC
Error message:
Msg 156, Level 15, State 1, Line 2 Incorrect syntax near the keyword 'SELECT'.
Now i can populate my gridview trough code by this: //gvwDiensten.DataSource = new BindingList<diensten>(dataManager.GetList<diensten>().ToList());But i would like to use an objectdatasource, so i created this:
[Code]....
</asp:ObjectDataSource>
But when running the page i get:
ObjectDataSource 'dsDiensten' could not find a non-generic method 'GetList' that has no parameters.
I'm implementing a BLL layer and have a few questions. First, in my DAL, there is a contacts table, the select method is a sql query against a sql server 2000 database. The preview data returns everyting as expected. The query is
[Code]....
The BLL method is built like so
[Code]....
When using the BLL method to a gridview, the results of the subquery are not displayed. There are also other methods, each having a different where clause for ContactRole_ID and each is having the same issue of not displaying the subquery reult in the gridview. No error, but no data is displayed for the subquery either. Here is the templatefield of the gridview
[Code]....
Another item that is causing an error is in trying to update a record. Here is the DAL update method
[Code]....
And the BLL update method
[Code]....
The error says i have extra parameters, but have no clue where the extra parameters are being picked up. The error isObjectDataSource 'odsContacts' could not find a non-generic method 'UpdateContact' that has parameters: _ContactID, _Active, _ContactName, _Office, _VirtualOffice, _Pager, _Fax, _Home, _Cellular, _Email, _ContactRole_ID, Active, ContactRole_ID, ContactName, Office, Email, VirtualOffice, Pager, FAX, Home, Cellular. And the objectdatasource
I am moving to the world of ASP.NET from an Access VBA / VB6 background and having read a few books on the subject I am still confused about communicating with SQL server in VB with ASP.NET.
As a very quick explination I am used to communicating with the server by passing strings containing the data I want to write (or read) such as:
[Code]....
I do not seem to be able to work out from ALAX, Dynamic Data, Bound Controls, DataViews, connecting to services with SOAP, DataSources and all of the other methods of database communication in ASP.NET which is the right system to do the simple reads and writes in SQL that I want to do.
At present I have a page with all of the controls on it required to collect a block of data I want to insert, it is all now fully validated but although I can build the SQL INSERT command in a string I cannot figure out how to fire it over to the local SQL Express server. Am I even doing this correctly or do I need to look at other controls?
When I want to get the output values its okay but I also want returning a table as a result data. But Datareader has no rows.is it possible if I want a returning query result and multiple output values togather ?I wrote a test above.I can get output values as sqlparameters. But Datareader attached to a Gridview is empty.can you detect whats wrong here and it doesnt return a query result. So stored procedure is not standart or ı am doing something wrong.this doesnt raise any exception.but not returning any data.
How can I programatically call a gridview row when it is loaded based on the primary key. For example, say I have a record in the gridview where the column name is ID (Identity Field) and has the number 37 in it. When the gridview loads up, I need to get the rowindex where the primary key = 37 and have that row automatically selected.
I have a DetailsView control with a SelectMethod and two select parameters wich one of the parameters is a control parameter, The parameters are not passed to objectDatasource's select method, the objectdatasource has been defined as follows:
I'm trying to allow my users to select a record from their list of attendees and edit it using a details view positioned below the GridView. The issue I'm having is when I run the code I get my error message and no data is displayed in the DetailsView. Error Message is:
DataBinding: 'System.Data.Common.DataRecordInternal' does not contain a property with the name '10002'.
I have a ListView that, among other things, in the EditItemTemplate, has a pair of related DropDownList controls, sort of a parent/child relationship. The selected value of the parent is used as a parameter for the SQL Datasource of the child. Outside of a control such as the ListView, this would be easy and I'd simply set up a ControlParameter for the SQL Datasource and life would be good. Within the DataList things are not quite so simple. My plan is to set the parameter of the child in the Selecting handler of its datasource. I have hard coded some values and this works the way I want it to. My problem is getting the "parent" value. I've got two theories on how to get this:
#1, I've tried instantiating the parent DropDownList but it is either not available at this point in the page life cycle or I just don't know the syntax to get at it from within the Selecting handler.
#2, I'm thinking I may have to grab the value from the underlying data for the ListViewRow that I am editing, but again, I do not know the object model well enough to get at those values.
Below is a code sample for option #1. As stated, setting the parameter works, but getting the value of the DropDownList does not.
I've got a Linq datasource hitched up to a Formview control for clients to edit some data. I'm having trouble setting the where parameters withing the control so it show the right set of data. Here's the markup:
[Code]....
Upon running right now, it's completely ignoring the where parameters. What am I missing here?
I have a page called Page2.aspx and it is called by another page called Page1.aspx and Page1.aspx passes two parameters namely: Name and Category to Page2.aspx. Does anyone know why the following code from Page2.aspx is not working and it keeps giving an error message as follows: " You have declare the parameter @Username".
I want to have a dropdownlist in the footer row of a gridview. The dropdownlist must be populated with an stored procedure that receives a parameter and has a select. Is that posible?? I think yes but I having problems with the parameters.
[Code]....
The exception says incorrect sintax... but I've changed the procedure for something very simple to solve the problem like select 'hello' or select 1, 'hello' and I'm getting the same problem...
