im creating advance search for my project and end up with the problem of select statement format for 2category.
here is example:
i have advancesearch that has checkbox wherein you can select multiple checkbox. example is selecting category, for example ihave 5 category as shown below.

News Sports Opinion Editorial Literary i did tried someformats for my select statements to make it work for 2 or more category, but i just cant get the right format of the select statement.
example if i select the following.
if selected is category 'Sports'
it wil work with this: " 'Select * MyTable1 where [Category Title]='Sports' "
if selected are category 'Sports' and 'News'. what must be the format for my selectstatement for 2 or more category in the same fieldname? should it work with this?
" 'Select * MyTable1 where [Category Title]='Sports','News'" no, how could i make it work. what must be the right format?

i create example using Northwind database so i create a new website and add new ADO.Net Entity Data Model (.edmx) called Northwind.edmx and i add Categories and Products table inside this (.edmx) file
and add new ADO.Net Data Servuce called "ADODataService" and add it as WebReferences called NorthwindService
so i add new web page and drag DropdownList and Gridview as i want to bind Dropdownlist to all categories and when i select category from Dropdownlist bind Gridview to all Products related to this category

I have a select statement that is supposed to be filling grid with information from an income table. It's only supposed to pull if the income is from the current fiscal year or is less than 1 year old. Currently, what it does is pull multiples of rows and also rows from past income years but only if there is a mixture. For instance, if a person has income from 2005 and 2010 what it will show is this
Income 2005
Income 2005
Income 2010
Income 2010
Income 2010
Does anyone know what I've done wrong? BTW, those results are exact, old income is shown twice, current is shown 3X

This question is for wrapping up work on a database driven AJAX AutoComplete Control that I am using to provide keyword hints to user on search pages. Each record has 6 columns for keywords where each column is for an advertiser to add a keyword. These are used in meta keywords tags, but I also want to use them for AutoComplete. The problem is that I don't know how to write a SELECT statement in Visual Studio that treats all 6 keyword columns as if they were all one column. I am looking for something like
SELECT (keyword1 + keyword2 + keyword3) AS Keywords
FROM (Merchandise)
WHERE Keywords LIKE @term
The only other thing I can think of the gain this level of functionality would be to combine them into a new table.

I am working in a project that is a musical website. I want to display the web page with all categories I have. In my database , named Category_Master, I have two fields like Category_Id (which is a primary key ) and Category_Name. I have generated category_Id with NEWID() function. The category_Id is not supposed to display on the web page. But, i have to select Category_Name and according to that , I have to get the category_Id. If I am using Static connection with SqlDataSource, i am able to make visible=false property so that the category_id won't be visible. But , at that time, I can't write code to Select the category_id of the selected index.
If i am using disconnected approach, I filled the dataset with the Category_Master, and binded it to GridView. But, at that time, I can't hide the category_id from the user. I want to select category_id by clicking on the category_name with out displaying category_id ..?

I have walked through other posts with a similar problem but I am very stuck.I am normally use Php/MySQL and am new to ASP (actually only this new client uses it and I'm trying to help them). I am trying to filter a table to only show the last 90 days of records. I found what I thought was the easy solution shown below:
FilterExpression="columnname < GETDATE() - 90"
Or, if you can modify your SQL SELECT statement
SELECT col1, col2, col3 FROM tablename WHERE col3 < GETDATE() -90
However when I added it I get this error:Description: An error occurred during the parsing of a resource required to service this request. Please review the following specific parse error details and modify your source file appropriately. Parser Error Message: Type 'System.Web.UI.WebControls.BoundField' does not have a public property named 'FilterExpression'.I think I have added the code to the wrong place or have another file to edit but I have no clue honestly. The best I can do is show you the file I have the code to in hopes someone may know what this is. SELECT u.Email FROM UserProfiles p, aspnet_Membership u WHERE p.RulesCheckBox = 'True' AND u.UserId = p.UserId This gives me a list of registered member email addresses that have selected the RulesCheckBox in their profile, so I can email them with an email script. There is a relationship between the Membership table and the UserProfile table, so it finds the email addresses from the Membership table where that user has the RulesCheckBox checked in their profile (in UserProfiles table). I'm wanting to add some additional names to this list, from a different table. The purpose is so I can manually add email addresses to the additional table, so the additional email addresses will also receive the same email, even though they aren't registered members of the site. So how can I adjust that SELECT statement so this one is combined with it somehow?:

I'd like to print out the select statement for a SqlDataSource to see exactly what is being issued to the database. I added an OnSelecting event and the code shown below. The problem is that it's printing the variables in the select statement rather than the values assigned to those variables. How do I print out the "resolved" output so that I can see the values being passed to the database.

I have a formview, selecting * from friends, where [date] = getdate()
The problem is the friends table date columns datatype is datetime, i cannot make it just date.
I only want to display data if the date is the actual date, i.e. between 00:00:01 and 23:59:59
How do i select only the date for both getdate and my date column?

I have an inventory page with a gridview that shows 1 item per record, each item starts with a checkbox in the gridview. Currently users can select multiple records and hit the order button and everything has worked well. Now I have multiple pages in my gridview, and if a user selects a few records from the first page, and then goes to the second page, all the records (checked checkboxes) disappear from the first page.

Edit and Delete functionality works flawlessly in Gridview if all data is pulled ONLY FROM ONE TABLE. But pulling data from one table give you ID's instead of actual values that are stored in other tables.
After creating a usable Select statement that would pull all the correct values, my Edit and Delete functionality no longer work.

I have a GridView; one of the columns displays concatenated records from a tables. to extract the records that are going to be concatenated and put in this column, i have used: FOR XML path('') and it works just fine for displaying those records. the problem now is the whole gridview can not be sorted anymore and gives me a 404, document not found, error whenever i try to click the columns to sort. here is my select statement for my sql datasource select command:
