Nov 30, 2010I have a DetailsView for inserting values and currently the columns are center aligned. What I want is to have my "label" right aligned and my "text box/dropdown box" left aligned.
Something like:
Name: _______________
Address: __________________________
Phone: __________
Insert Cancel
If I change the alignment to left for both, the Insert and Cancel buttons on the bottom of the control also shift to the left, and I'd like them to stay centered.

Feb 8, 2010i have a drop down list and a text box, inside a listview row (and this is a repeating layout). i populate each dropdownlist with same contents ( these contents/items come from a custom collection object).
i have added a required field validator in the listview's item template, that has its validation group = the validation group of the drop down list, and validates if the textbox is blank or not. this validation takes place on the selected index changed of the drop downlist for that row.
1. on selected index changed, EACH dropdownlist validates only its corressponding textbox perfectly (which is what i want)
but if i enter some text in one of the textboxes after doing 1, the dropdownlist for THAT particular row, assigns the correct value to the text entered. but for other rows (for which i changed their corresponding ddls to test the required field validation and for which the text boxes are still blank), their ddls by itself assign the values to the blank text without validating.

code behind for the ddl selected index changed is [Code]....
method GetIndexFromId retrieves index of the custom object inside a collection depending on the Id (which is a property) of the object.
i notice that the ddl selectedindexchanged is being hit as many number of times as many rows i change (i.e as many ddls in different rows i change to check the required field validation)

Is there any way to show some specific number of character in the column and show the whole text in a tool tip on mouse hover or any other way to show the complete text for that column.

May 10, 2010I have been struggling with this problem for a long time. Does anyone have any clue about this problem? I created a gridview and set the allowsorting to true. This gridview has four columns: Name, Position, StartDate, and EndDate. I want the gridview to be sorted on the EndDate.
Inside of the save event, I called the BindGrid() function to rebind the datasource to the gridview. The changes will shown immediately, but the problem is that the records are not sorting on EndDate. I have to refresh the page manually to get the view sorted.

Dec 2, 2010I am building a website in which students are able to view their grades for specific courses. They are able to view their grades through the use of grid views and formviews. The students are able to login and through the "Administer website" feature on the login view, if they arent a student then they will not be authorized to view the gridview page in which all the grades are listed.
What I want to do next is to be able to 1. when a student logs in, i want that specific student that logged in to be able to view his/her specific grade and not be able to view any other person's grade, how do i do that? My code is written in C#, but I am using the postback URL feature,

After I update/submit the form, it returns to page number 10. But, if I go to another page, for instance page 5, and submit the form, it returns to page 10.
I've tried some things, for instance history.back(), but it returns to the first page I went to, in this case page number 10 (or whatever the first page I go to).

Feb 24, 2010.NET with VB I have a simple Gridview written with bound columns that gives a summary of all projects assigned to the user viewing the page.
I am struggling with passing the value of my project_ID column of a row that is clicked. I have looked around all day at different things, one involved using TemplateField with and ItemTemplate instead to fill my coloumns in stead of BoundField. This worked nicely to draw my Grid with the correct data from my datasource. I still struggled with two things.1. Selecting the row either button or ondoubleclick like event that runs VB code on my .aspx.vb page 2. Then the code to set a variable to the value for my project_ID columnThis is so frustrating, this was soooo simple in MS Access that was an on doubleclick event. That I simple set up set the project_ID.value = gblproject_ID and then called the new forum with the datasouce of that form filtered on the gblproject_ID. I am starting to think moving my MS Access DB online to .NET is far over my head.

Just iterates through the table and looking for any row with the boolean 'checkin' value is True, then it takes the 'id' value of that row and stores it into an array. Is there a way that I can access a another entry, and only that entry, in the table with the 'id' stored in the array?
Like if my data base contained and int, primarykey, `id` value, a boolean, `checkedin` value, and a `time` value, is there a way to access, lets say, the row with `id` equalling 3 and and the checkIn value from that row?

Feb 10, 2011currently I am doing a web application such that after user search for all the contracts,the contract id is a hyperlink in which user can click on it to view the results tied to it. There is 2 pages. One is for the search page and after searching results is populated below. The contract id in the grid view is a hyperlink so that when user clicks on it, they will go to another page and view the specific records tied to it. How shld I do this as I am creating this web application in 3-tier formatting.
