I am having trouble inserting rows from a DetailsView. I am using a profiler, and I can see that 18 parameters are being passed in to my procedure where there should only be 10.

I have a DetailsView control that accepts two different fields to be populated. I need one of them to be masked so that whilst something can be entered, no-one can see what is actually being keyed?
View 6 RepliesHere is the scenerio:I have a radtabstrip (with 2 tabs) at the top of my page followed by radMultiPage control Tab 1 displays pageview 1 which has a gridview showing data from our database and allows for selection or deletion of data tab 2 displays a detailsview when gridview_selectedindexchanged(from tab 1) is fired.Problem... If you select an entry in the gridview it switech the page and the detailsview into editmode (works fine) but if you then click on tab 1 without clicking update or cancel in the detailsview, the data is updated. This is what i don't want as the user has basically abandoned the changes.So what i need is a what to say ... if the detailsview is in edit or insert when the tabstrip is clicked then cancel the insert or update. I tried switching it back to readonly mode but that did not seem to work.

I have a details view bound to a database that when a user enters their details and clicks insert it will store the data and then send them to another page. I have tried response.redirect but that does nothing. I am using c# btw.

I have every book, I have SQL server 2005 and 2008" I have all the tools, but I do not know what tool or technology to use when starting out learning all this. I juat do not know what book teaches what I need to do for something like below.
Here is my question:
I created an .ASPX webform that is to "Submit" to a SQL 2005 database. I gave this form to my DBA, and he has made up a Data Model. Now I have to figure out how to write the ASP.NET code so it will submit to the DB. My first issue is not knowing this:
1. "How do I loop through my CheckBox List", and then insert the values checked into a "Database Table" (Each Checkbox value MUST be a seperate row in the table, the DBA does not want a seperate column for each checkbox value)
2. The database is using stored procedures
3. My third issue is this: "I do not know "where" to put the "code". If you do resond to this,
Summary: I just need shown the code on how to "loop through" the CheckBox List on my form, and insert those values into a database table as seperate rows.

I cannot figure out how to get the Update function to work properly. My method to get the the key and control values into the SqlDataSource UpdateParameters is not working. I cant find anything on the web for Updating with SqlDataSource.
I am getting this error

A managed to the connections, everything, made a DetailView of the DB data on the page, enabled in the Advanced SQL Generation Options the "Generate INSERT, DELETE and UPDATE statesments". What kind of lock will be used on table if there is insert statement made by specifiying value in the insert statement?
View 2 RepliesI am trying to arrange the information from a SQL record into a 3 column by 3 row table to fit the form presentation that I want. I have placed on the page 3X3 table and then tried to place a detailsview in the first cell for the first picture called P1dv.
I have place a detailsview in the last cell that would control the paging of information called Controldv. I need to fiqure out how to link P1dv paging to Controldv page action. I am using visual web dev. 2005. I am not updating or editing these are read only views.

I´m trying to link the gridview to detailsview and I used this page as my inspiration:

But I´m trying to do that programmatically, not with the sqldatasource. So I wrote the method that binds data to Detailsview and I call it in the page_load. The problem is that I have to click two times on the select button to view the detailsview. The first time I click on the select button nothing happens.
I have a gridview with a Select button. Clicking the Select button for a particular item, I need its full details displayed in DetailsView. how I can bind to DetailsView? Here is what I have so far.

View 1 RepliesThe topic of sql server deadlock has been discussed many times, however, I was unsure that even two simultaneous inserts on a table can end up in a deadlock situation. Scenario: While testing our application (SQL Server 2005 as backend, ASP.net 3.5) we inserted records into a table simultaneously (simplified overview) and that resulted into a deadlock for more than 70% of users.
I could not get a hang of this as how an insert is being deadlock as this is not a case of multiple resources. After a detailed analysis (of reproducing the bug by two users) I found that both the processes were holding a RangeS-S lock on the primary key index of the table and were trying to convert this into RangeI-N lock, that resulted into a deadlock and one transaction being killed.
Question: Can we avoid or reduce these kind of deadlocks as this is not a case of change in order of access of resources? Cant' we force the transaction to get exclusive lock initially so that it blocks the other process and avoid deadlock? What (adverse) effects that may have? Also could some one explain more about RangeI-N lock.
Isolation Level for this was "Serializable".

Name: Adam
Age: 18
Gender: M
And I wanted to add a lines (gray image) between each two rows
Name: Adam
Age: 18
Gender: M
I managed to put the image as another row between each two rows, but it make it start only on the second column (of the data) because the first column "saved" for the header (which is empty)
anyone knows how can put the image between the rows and make it "use" the whole line?

I am at a stand still here. I have a GridView in which I'm moving the DetailsView (bound to a sqldatasource) to the ModalPopupExtender for Updating. DetailsView for the selected row is contained in an updatepanel with the UpdateMode set to Conditional. My Select function works properly, filling in the fields of DetailsView, but I cannot figure out how to get the Update function to work properly. I think what I am missing is a method to get the the key values and control values into the SqlDataSource UpdateParameters.

Im having trouble accessing controls inside the gridview. I have a formview control on a aspx page and inside this formview i have controls that are bound to a datasource. Which works hundred percent. Also inside this formview i have a gridview which i have created my own template. Gridview1 has 3 columns with textboxes in each column.
Column 1 - LogDate
Column 2 - LogBy
Column 3 - Number dialed
Now this is what im trying to do. I have a dial button inside formview1 along with 4 textboxes which has telephone numbers in it. When i click on the dial button i want the time to be populated into Textbox1 which is inside gridview1 and at the same time Textbox2 to be pupulated with the Username as well as the number must be populated into Textbox3 inside gridview1.
I am using an ObjectDataSource in my FormView for INSERT.
Data inserts correctly to my backend SQL table, however as i am posting back a success/fail message to the same page, i have noticed that after a successful INSERT if it hit the Refresh button the INSERT is doubled up.
How can i stop a user pressing the Refresh button and doubling the INSERT?
Is there a setting somewhere or can i stop this programmatically within my ObjectDataSource_Inserting method perhaps?
I have a web page with a gridview & formview (master/detail relationship) combo. On page load the gridview shows all records from a SQL table. On my page I have a button that when clicked shows the formview in Insert mode to allow users to add a new record to the data. I have also added a column to my gridview that has a link. When a user clicks this link it hides the gridview and shows the formview in edit mode with the detail from the record selected from the gridview.
In my formview I am using a listbox control to allow users to select multiple values. The choices in the listbox are populated by a SQL data table. I have successfully written code to post the selected listbox values to my SQL data field during Insert. When the user selects a record to edit I have code in the databound event to select values in the listbox from the choices based on the value in the sql data field. This works as well. My problem is that I cannot figure out the correct code to update my SqL data when a user is editing the record and makes changes to the selected listbox value. I have included my design code for my listbox in my formview edittemplate and also my behind code that I have attempted.
