I have a requirement where I need to show the data in parent/child form .For Example - Lets says we have have customers and each customers can have multiple orders.I need to display it like this -
Cust1
Info about the customer
Gridview (showing all the orders for the cust1)
Cust2
Info about the customer
Gridview (showing all the orders for the cust2)
What controls should I used
In my website I have two forms: parent form and child form(dialog box). Their expected behaviour is like this: if clicked on 'show' button on parent form, a dialog form opens that displays a gridview. In dialog form, if clicked on 'select' button it closes
itself and returns value in selected row back to parent form.
To achieve this I write following code (.cs) : in parent form:

Now problem is: the code in parent .cs works fine, it opens the dialog properly. But when clicked on 'select', instead of returning back to parent, it opens the same dialog again in new window. This newly open window says "Done but error on page" at left bottom.
In nested gridview, i am finding some problem, i want to show child Grid headers in Parent Gridview. Can anyone tell me that how it is possible? Its very urgent. Waiting for quick response.
View 1 RepliesI am currently trying to figure out the best way to handle a data formatting issue. I have a stored procedure that pulls back basically all the data I need, but using a gridview doesn't really give me what I need.
For example...currently the gridview displays data like:

Date1 ProjectCode3 Hours ApproveChkBox
Date2 ProjectCode1 Hours ApproveChkBox

Is there anyway to do this using a nested gridview? Or is there a proper way to display this type of format?
I am using a collapsible child gridview inside a parent gridview. When I click on the expand image, the data to displayed is put up correctly, however when I make some changes in the child gridview, they seem to be lost!! That is, the changes do not get reflected in the database.

View 1 Replies I have nested gridviews, in the outer grid I am displaying the question and in the inner grid 4 options are displayed in radiobuttons. I have kept Lock Answer button inside Item Template in inner gridview , so this button is coming with each and every question and when i click on Lock Answer button in front of any question, its saving the corresponding answer in the database. For ex, if there are 10 questions this button is coming with all the questions, all the questions are on single page and all are multiple choice. Now everything is working mine, my requirement is that I need on 1 common Lock Answer button at the bottom of the page and not with all the questions. And when I click on that common button it should run for all the questions that are displayed on the screen at should fetch and update each unique answer corresponding to that question in the database. I have created a search page for web application that will allow a user to search the database based upon employee name or supervisor name. It is a multiple table database that is linked together by an unique employee number column, primary key in people and foreign key in supervisor. I have a parent/ child datalist used to display the record. When searching by the employee name it will return the record correctly if there is a record found. However, if I search by supervisor name and there is no match for the supervisor name, it will return all the records and create the parent datalist with all the employee details there, but the child datalist with the supervisor information is not display as there is no record with that supervisor name.

since APS.Net 4.0 I have a curious problem with an event.
There is a FormView and inside of the EditItem there is a GridView. In the Footer of the GridView I put Controls for inserting records.
But when I fire a markup defined RowCommand of that GridView then the same event is getting fired for the Parent FormView. First I had 'Insert' as the CommandName and so I was getting the Error that my FormView had to be in insert mode to insert a record. Then I changed the RowCommand of the GridView to 'xxx' and I got also the RowCommand 'xxx' at the RowCommand eventhandler of the Parent FormView.
The project was migrated from .Net 3.5 a few days ago, but nothing was manually changed in the code/markup. And the problem was not there with the "old" framework.

Of course, I could simply change the CommanName of the LinkButton e.g. to 'InsertChild' but I would like to know:

I have a webform (parent) with embedded webgrid(child) which uses sqldatasource. What I wanted to accomplish is to save both the form data and the grid data when the Save button is clicked. I tried to save form data(parent) in sqldatasource1_inserting event, does not work. I think there should be a way to do it, just do not know how.

Within the EditItemTemplate and InsertItemTemplate I have a cell that has a textbox and a button.
When the button is clicked a popup window is shown, where the user can upload a picture. The name of the uploaded picture is retrieved.
Now I want to send that picture name back to the textbox within the listviews EditItemTemplate or/and InsertItemTemplate (that is ofcourse one at a time depending on what the user is doing, inserting or editing a row).

I have a web form called default.aspx which has a form with user information. In addition to this, I have an iFrame on the same page that displays a page Secondary-Form.aspx that has a few additional dynamic data fields. I need to do two things.
1. I need to pass the parent form data in real time to the iFrame page to refresh its content and modify it's fields accordingly. Example: If the user submits their Vehicle Choice as Car on parent form, the form item in iFrame will display a radio button that says Honda, and if the user submits their Vehicle Choice as MotorCycle in the parent page, the iFrame will display Harley Davidson as the radio button choice
2. The submit button is on the parent page. I want both pieces of this information (from the parent page, as well as iFrame selection) to be passed to a server side ASPX page to process this information.the default.aspx and Secondary-Form.aspx files are located on different domains.
I have a parent gridview which has a child gridview in the itemsTemplate. Both are binded to different SqlDataSources. I can successfully update and delete rows in the child gridview. After updating in the child gridview, some related data in the parent gridview are not updated automatically. So i have placed ParentGridview.Databind() in the rowupdated event of child gridview. But it doesnt look working.
How can i accomplish this?
