Get UserControl VirtualPath Programmatically?

I need to get a UserControl VirtualPath programmatically. How can I do it?

For example, MyControl.ascx placed in Controls folder, so the result should be "~/Controls/MyControl.ascx".

Web Forms :: Programmatically Add Usercontrol More Than Once?

I want to be able to add the same Usercontrol by code more than once, when I click a button.

I use this code to load my custom usercontrol:

Private WithEvents MyStatus As controls_MyStatus = CType(LoadControl("~/controls/MyStatus.ascx"), controls_MyStatus)
Protected Sub Button1_Click(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles Button1.Click
Panel2.Controls.Add(MyStatus)
End Sub

the problem is that the usercontrol is only added once

Create A Usercontrol Instance Programmatically?

Feb 16, 2011

I have a UserControl that I need to add dynamically. I tried to follow this MSDN article, but I'm not having any success....[URL]

The UserControl is basically an image gallery, and it loads some pictures based on an ID. My idea was to make this ID available as a property. Then when I create an instance of the control, I could set this ID and add it to the form.

I added a reference to the control in the .aspx page that will use it, like this:

<%@ Reference Control="~/PictureGallery.ascx" %>

And in the UserControl I added a ClassName like this:

<%@ Control Language="C#" AutoEventWireup="true" CodeFile="PictureGallery.ascx.cs"
Inherits="PictureGallery" ClassName="PictureGallery" %>

When I try to create an instance in the .aspx.cs like the article suggests, Dim gallery As ASP.PictureGallery, I get an "Type ASP.PictureGallery is not defined".

The article mentions a namespace, ASP, and I tried importing it to the .aspx.cs with no luck. So, I'm not able to get a reference to the UserControl.

AJAX :: How To Register A Programmatically Inserted UserControl As A Trigger

Mar 22, 2010

I have a page that dynamically inserts user controls into a placeholder depending on values in a database table. The user controls consist of a label and one control (dropdownlist, radiobuttonlist, or checkbox). The controls will also have the AutoPostBack property set programmitcally depending on values in the database. My update panel is on the main page, not in the user control. I have tried the ScriptManager.RegisterPostBackControl method to register the UserControl on page load, but the page still does a post back. I think I need to register the control that is inside the UserControl, but I have no idea how to access it from the main page_load event.

This thread is the closest to what I am trying to do, but since I am inserting the user controls programmatically, I need the triggers to be registered programmatically as well. Also, I need to register
them as PostBackTrigger instead of AsyncPostBackTrigger because I need to do a full page reload because the user controls are inserted dynamically.

Web Forms :: VirtualPath Provider Does Not Work On Localhost?

Dec 30, 2010

My virtualpath provider works well in VS 2010 but doesn't in IIS 7.5 on my localhost. In IIS, I get a HTTP 404 when I fetch an aspx, which is normal because the aspx is in a table. The problem seems linked to the sequence

HostingEnvironment.RegisterVirtualPathProvider(new MyProviderClass) in the AppInitialize method.

There is no exception raised but the instruction seems to no avail :

If I try object O = HostingEnvironment.VirtualPathProvider immediately after the registering, I see that O==null.

Again, it works perfectly well in VS.

Web Forms :: CrossPage Postback Without PreviousPageType VirtualPath

Feb 2, 2011

Im using this code below, but it does not work. I am NOT specifying the "PreviousPageType VirtualPath" in the page, as I want to be able to post to this page from multipul different pages. It finds the placeholder ok, but the control collection for that placeholder is empty so the textbox is never found.

I want to be able to post to this page from many pages that are created using the custom error page. So I cant really specify the "PreviousPageType VirtualPath" as it can be many places all of which are not physical paths

UpdatePanel Dynamically Loaded Web UserControl Will Disappear After Clicking Any Button Inside The UserControl?

Mar 17, 2011

I've a ASP.Net page (Default.aspx) which will load UserControl (ucontrol.ascx) dynamically into an UpdatePanel. By using UpdatePanel, we believe we're able to prevent the entire page to be posted-back.

My problem is, within the UserControl, we have some form controls, such as inputs and buttons; after the UserControl is loaded, clicking on any button inside the UserControl will cause the UpdatePanel to be blanked. During the investigation, I found that, breakpoints within the Button1_Click() in the code-behind for the UserControl is never reached. Please reference to the code below, this references to [REFERENCE]1.

I cannot for the life of me figure out why the child UserControl disappears. The code works beautifully on the first load, but any partial postback causes the "Pick" UserControl to disappear.

Web Forms :: UserControl To UserControl - Same Object Instance Transfer

Sep 27, 2010

There are 2 UserControls UC1 and UC2, and there is one more class C. I want to share the same instance of c in both UserControls. I know that this can be possible with properties in both UC's and by registering UC2 in UC1 or vice versa. But I want the solution to be loosely coupled. Any best possible way without touching the Actual Page (which hosts UC's)? So i need some best possible way between UCs transfering C.

How To Reference TextBox In One UserControl From Another UserControl

Jan 19, 2011

I have two UserControls on a MasterPage. DataEntryUC contains several TextBoxes and DropDownList. NavSaveUC contains navigation buttons. When the user clicks on a navigation button, I will be saving the data entered into DataEntryUC from the NavSaveUC UserControl.

I have a couple of tables in my DB that contain stored procedure names, control names, control types, SqlDbTypes, etc.... that correlate with DataEntryUC.

How do I reference a text box that is on DataEntryUC from NavSaveUC?

I have been working on the following code from NavSaveUC with no luck.

Dim MyControlName = "txtFirstName"
Dim MyControlType = "TextBox"
Dim MyStringValue as String
Dim tmpTxtControl as TextBox
Dim tmpDdlControl as DropDownList
Select Case MyControlType
Case "TextBox"
tmpTxtControl = CType(Page.FindControl(MyControlName, TextBox)
MyStringValue = tmpTxtControl.Text
Case "DropDownList"
tmpDdlControl = CType(Page.FindControl(MyControlName, DropDownList)
MyStringValue = tmpDdlControl.SelectedValue
End Select
