Why I get an error when my time is PM? The MSDN doc says tt works with AM/PM.

This code works somewhat, but it won't place all of the text into the textbox.. If I change a few things I get an error where I highlighted the code in red. Conversion from string "" to type 'Double' is not valid. But the code works, like I said somewhat, as you see it, it just doesn't load all of the text to the text box.555632.txt

I'm writing a class to automatically extract information from an excel spreadsheet (using NPOI api) in C#, and then import this information into a database. I've got it all working fine except for one small issue.
One of the spreadsheets I'm working with, contains the date in the following format: 04/01/2011 04:43:28.
When I ran the web application, I got the following error message:
String was not recognised as a valid
So I debugged through the code after this, and it turns out that the date is being read in as:
40546.0151388889, so it is being formattted back to a number.

I have an SqlDataSource with several parameters, one of which is a date/time, that is in the database it is stored in one field as short date + long time, i.e., "11/14/2010 9:15:34 PM".

I am very new to ASP .NET and am getting above error when trying to insert a new record into a SQL database. I have turned on Option Explicit On so the default date of 01/01/1900 does not get assigned to this field automatically. Since most of the people in the database will not have a date of death, I need to have "blank" deathDate. View 1 Replies Background: I use SQL server 2005 developer edition and visual studio 2008. Visual studio 2008 is running on a local machine with Vista business edition. SQL server is running on a remote server using Windows server 2003. Both computers are within the same domain.
Problem: First, I used the server explorer to connect to the SQL server. Everything works as desired. Then I write code to do the same thing. I keep getting the following error message:
A network-related or instance-specific error occurred while establishing a connection to SQL Server. The server was not found or was not accessible. Verify that the instance name is correct and that SQL Server is configured to allow remote connections. (provider: SQL Network Interfaces, error: 25 - Connection string is not valid)
However, I used the exactly identical connection string as the one used in the server explorer. So connection string should not be the problem. In addition, I tried the test code in MSDN, which tells whether my domainusername can flow the network. It turns out the user name is fine. I also went to the SQL server management studio and found the login for my computer is NVCWeihao while my computer login name is NVCweihao. I am wondering if this uppercase letter really affects the connection.

I am having trouble formatting the date on a textbox I get the error above if I don't enter the date in MM/DD/YY format in the textbox. I am also using this in a FormView so I can't format it or don't know how to in the code behind so if there is a way to format it in design view that would be preferable. I have a list view control. Each row within it has a rowid and a textbox where a note(user enters relevant info to that particular record) is entered. On a paging event I store the rowID and the note text in a generic list for retrieval if the user pages back later on. Goal here is to keep the text the user has entered. (see the code below)This generic list does in fact get populated correctly when I go to the next page currently. I can see this in Visual Studio. So now, when the user goes back to the first page I want to run a test within my Listviews ItemDataBound event. I want to see if the row ID being tested is part of the generic list. If so, I then want to take the corresponding note that is also within the list and bind it to the text box. However, I don't know how to write the correct conditional for this and how to bind the textbox if the conditional evaluates to true.
