Getting "; Expected" Error In .aspx Page When Using Vb.script?

Sep 17, 2010

Using c#.net/asp.net 2005.I am trying to use vbscript if statement in the .aspx page of my page when I'm using c# for the code-behind file. I'm new to csharp and wondering are you allowed to use vbscript (not vb.net) in the .aspx page?

JQuery Object Expected Error In .net Page With Master Site?

Oct 27, 2010

The error i get seems to be centered around jquery finding what it's in (window,document, etc.). Right now i'm just trying to implement the jQuery datepicker. the project has a master page, where i placed my script references.

<head runat="server">
<title></title>
<link href="~/Styles/Site.css" rel="stylesheet" type="text/css" />[code]...

I have tried document and window for jquery context, but they both throw the same error.

JQuery Object Expected Error When Accessing Page Via Url Routing?

May 29, 2010

In my global.asax I have url routing setup like below:

routes.MapPageRoute("User Logon", "{Vendor}/Logon", "~/Logon.aspx");

In the logon.aspx page, I have a script that "stylizes" the logon button:

<link href="jquery/css/flick/jquery-ui-1.8.1.custom.css" rel="stylesheet" type="text/css" />
<link href="images/style.css" rel="stylesheet" type="text/css" />
<script src="jquery/js/jquery-1.4.2.min.js" type="text/javascript"></script>
<script src="jquery/js/jquery-ui-1.8.1.custom.min.js" type="text/javascript"></script>
<script type="text/javascript">
$(document).ready(function () {
$('#<%= ButtonLogon.ClientID %>').button();
});
</script>

When I access the page us a url (in debug mode) http://localhost/logon.aspx?v=1 the page loads correctly and the jquery button command loads correctly. But then I access the page using the new url route, I get this error.

Microsoft JScript runtime error: Object expected

Embedded Javascript In Master Page Throw "Object Expected Error"

Jun 8, 2010

I'm semi-new to writing ASP.Net applications using master pages and I've run into an issue I've spent some time on but can't seem to solve.

My situation is that I have a master page with a structure that looks like this:

<head runat="server">
<title>Test Site</title>
[code]...

When I run this page and click on the image I get an "Object Expected" error.However, if I place the test function into my Default.js external file it will function perfectly.

MVC :: Display Friendly Error Message On Page Without Redirecting To Error.aspx

Mar 8, 2011

All the examples and websites i have looked at redirect a user to the error.aspx page when an error occurs. How do you just display a friendly error message on the page the user is viewing saying something like "Sorry unable to do whatever" I've tried using a try catch block on my class that executes a stored procedure and put another try catch on the controller, but this does not work and i still get the default error message (System.InvalidOperationException was unhandled by user code) My code is below:

[Code]....

So how can i just return ViewData["SqlError"] message in page.

Missing Parentheses - Expected ')' Error?

Oct 26, 2010

One of my sql/ado INSERT commands is not working and I think it might have something to do with the following error I get: "Expected ')' WtrHydInspection.aspx Line:1 Code:0 Char:22" The page runs OK, the error just shows up as a little error icon in the bottom left. I have gone through every page of code that has something to do with the execution, searched for all the parentheses, both left and right, and I can't find a missing one (Regardless if it has something to do with the INSERT not working. I think I should find out what it is and fix it)

Web Forms :: Javascript Function Expected Error?

Oct 30, 2010

I'm using the CustomValidation Function to call my javascript but for some reason I'm not getting the * to indicate the error to the user. I keep getting a Function expected Error, so what is wrong with my javascript that's causing this error and why aren't I receiving the * notification?

Javascript:

<script type="text/javascript" language="javascript">
function checkAGITotal()
{
var a = document.getElementById('<%= NumberInHouseholdTxtbox.clientid %>').value;
var b = document.getElementById('<%= AGITotalTxtbox.clientid %>').value;
if (a == "1" && b <= "27247" || a == "2" && b <= "35630" || a == "3" && b <= "44014" || a == "4" && b <= "52397" || a == "5" && b <= "60781" || +
a == "6" && b <= "69164" || a == "7" && b <= "70736" || a == "8" && b <= "74020" || a == "9" && b <= "81500" || a == "10" && b <= "88980" || +
a == "11" && b <= "96460" || a == "12" && b <= "103940")
return true;
else
return false;
}
</script>
vb.net code:

Find Element ID - Expression Expected Error

Jan 25, 2013

I'm having issues when trying to run my web app. I'm getting an expression expected error at runtime on the portion of my code that is designed to retain the screen position of multiple drag panels.

Code:
var target = $this).attr("id");

should return the id of the uniquely named panel so it can be used later in code to identify the _DragPanelExtender.BehaviorID

Code:
$find('<%=' + target + '_DragPanelExtender.BehaviorID%>').set_location(new Sys.UI.Point(parseInt(temp[0]), parseInt(temp[1])));

I haven't been able to verify if the dragPanel's id name is being used, it just errors out here. In the following code, I am attempting to preserve the position of multiple dragPanel's after postback?
Code:
function pageLoad() {

//get element id name of button clicked
var target = $(this).attr("id");
// call the savePanelPosition when the panel is moved
$find(target).add_move(savePanelPosition);
var elem = $get("<%=HiddenField1.ClientID%>");

Content Placeholder Javascript Object Expected Error

Jan 29, 2010

I have the following code behind that was, until recently, working fine and dandy!

tbxProdAC.Attributes.Add("onclick", "$('#" + GridView1.ClientID + "').remove();
$('#" + radProdAC.ClientID + "').attr('checked', true);
$('#" + ddlBuyer.ClientID + "').val('--Choose Buyer--');
$('#" + ddlSub.ClientID + "').val('--Choose Sub Category--');
$('#" + ddlProd.ClientID + "').val('--Choose Product--');");

However, ever since I have introduced the notion of content place holders (from a master page), I am repeated getting the Object Expected error.Now I understand why this is happening, asp.net is amending the control names to take into account the CPH i.e. $('#ctl00_ContentPlaceHolder1_radBuyer').attr('checked', true);

How do I go about reslving this issue, effectively 'renaming' my asp.net controls to take this into account?
