.net - Disabling Authentication For A Single Aspx Page (custom Error Page)?

Mar 29, 2010

I am using a custom error page in IIS 6:<customErrors redirectMode="ResponseRedirect" mode="On" defaultRedirect="Error2.aspx"/>I want to disable authentication for the custom error page because the error being raised is related to an authentication module and I don't want to get into an infinite loop and I want to display a clean error page to the user. I have been trying the following configuration to do that.

<location path="Error2.aspx">
<system.web>
<authentication mode="None"/>

Getting Forms Authentication To Use 403 Custom Error Page Instead Of Login Page

Nov 19, 2010

I've a got an Asp.Net site that is using Forms authentication, I've also got custom errors configured in the web.config. One of these is a special error page for 403's (access denied). My question is how do I get Forms authentication to work smarter?

I would like Forms authentication to send users to login page only if they are not authenticated. If they are I want it to defer to the custom error pages that i've defined in the web.config. This seems like something very basic, how can this be achieved?

Security :: Disabling Integrated Authentication On Single File?

Apr 13, 2010

I'm not entirely sure if this is the right place to ask, but here goes.

I have a website that uses windows integrated authentication. This is great and the way i want it, BUT, i now have a single .aspx file in that site, that i would like anonymous access to.

I am running this on IIS 6 on a windows server 2003.

How do i go about doing this, if i even can do it? web.config, IIS console or do i need to make a new site for this one file alone?

Compile A Single (.aspx) Page From The Command Line?

Apr 9, 2010

I have a Perl script that calls aspnet_compiler.exe to compile a large ASP.NET website. The problem is that it takes very long to run. Is there any way to compile just a single .aspx file from the command line? (I think that would suit the needs of my script) It seems that all aspnet_compiler.exe can do is compile at a directory level.

Web Forms :: Web Project: Allow The Designer To Use Ftp To upload A Single Aspx Page ?

Feb 22, 2010

We're migrating from the web site to the web application model. Is there a way to allow the designer to use ftp to upload a single aspx page (foo.aspx and foo.aspx.cs) without requiring the use of the VS2008 Publish feature? We're a small shop and haven't bothered using source control as it wasn't much of an issue with the web site model. If the designer uses the Publish feature my binaries will be overwritten. I know that static pages are compiled at run time so I thought this would be possible but my tests result in errors. I've clicked around for some guidance but come up empty handed.

How To Use Custom Errors Page In Windows Authentication

Mar 18, 2011

I am using asp.net 3.5 web.config to limit access and it works great.

<authentication mode="Windows">
<authorization>
<allow users="Bill, John"/>
<deny users="*"/>
</authorization>

Unauthorized (but authenticated) users will be blocked by a system error message saying that:

Server Error in '/' Application Access is denied.

Description: An error occurred while Error message 401.2: Unauthorized: Logon failed due to server configuration.

In order to make the message more friendly, I uncomment the customErrors flag and create a GenericErrorPage.htm in the root path of my project.

<customErrors mode="On" defaultRedirect="GenericErrorPage.htm">
<error statusCode="403" redirect="NoAccess.htm" />
<error statusCode="404" redirect="FileNotFound.htm" />
</customErrors>

However, it just doesn't work. I still get the system error message rather than my custom error page.

Credentials Prompt For An Aspx Page Configured For Anonymous Authentication?

Most of the time, it works like a charm, but once in a while, the browser does prompt a enter credentials popup...The whole site is configured for Windows Authentication, but some pages and folders are set to use anonymous authentication. This is done using the location tag in web.config.What could be the reason for this?

Select Login Page For Forms Authentication Based On Custom Rules?

Nov 18, 2010

i have a web site that uses forms authentication. the problem is that i have the site installed multiple times on the same production servers because i need to have a few different login pages (based on the domain in this case). after the domain specific login page, the rest of the site is the same. obviously, this requires a lot of maintenance as each new version has to be installed multiple times on the server (with varying the login page in the web.config file).

so i thought is there a way to install the site on 1 folder on the disk, have a web site on the IIS take in all the needed domains and make some http module (or some other solution) in which i could give it a list of domains and the forms authentication for that domain. this way make the login page used by each site change according to the domain while still having only one site to maintain on the server.

Getting Redirection To Custom Error Page Using Custom Errors

Mar 24, 2010

Here's my Application_OnError event sink in global.asax.vb:

Sub Application_OnError(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As EventArgs)
Dim innerMostException As Exception = getInnerMostException(Me.Context.Error)
If TypeOf innerMostException Is AccessDeniedException Then
Security.LogAccessDeniedOccurrence(DirectCast(innerMostException, AccessDeniedException))
Dim fourOhThree As Integer = DirectCast(HttpStatusCode.Forbidden, Integer)
Throw New HttpException(fourOhThree, innerMostException.Message, innerMostException)
End If
End Sub

You'll see that if we've got an innermost Exception of type AccessDeniedException we throw a new HTTPExcpetion with a status code of 403 AKA 'forbidden'

Here's the relevant web.config entry:

<customErrors defaultRedirect="~/Application/ServerError.aspx" mode="On">
<error statusCode="403" redirect="~/Secure/AccessDenied.aspx" />
</customErrors>

So what we're expecting is a redirect to the AccessDenied.aspx page. What we get is a redirect to the ServerError.aspx page.

We've also tried this:

Sub Application_OnError(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As EventArgs)
Dim innerMostException As Exception = getInnerMostException(Me.Context.Error)
If TypeOf innerMostException Is AccessDeniedException Then
Security.LogAccessDeniedOccurrence(DirectCast(innerMostException, AccessDeniedException))
Context.Response.StatusCode = DirectCast(HttpStatusCode.Forbidden, Integer)
End If
End Sub

Which unsuprisingly doesn't work either.

CSS Getting Distorted While Using The Custom WebUserControl In An ASPx Page?

Oct 6, 2010

I have a very simple Web UserControl derived from System.Web.UI.UserControl. At Design Time the user control looks perfect in the VS2008 Pane with all CSS styles. When I drag n drop this control on an aspx page, the CSS style gets applied but some texts get hidden and the CSS looks distorted.

I have checked the path of the CSS, UserControl and the ASPx page. All are in the same level under root. The aspx page just contains the UserControl in a FORM tag.

How To Hide Property Of Custom Control In Aspx Page

Feb 8, 2010

I'm writing ASP.NET custom control, and I want it to have a few properties which should be visible only from code behind during run-time - I mean, these properties should not be visible both in a designer and in a aspx code of page containing this control. I've tried to use following attributes:

[DesignerSerializationVisibility(DesignerSerializationVisibility.Hidden)]
[Browsable(false)]
public List<Item> SomeData
{
...
}

but unfortunately this property is still visible in an Intellisense combobox when editing aspx page. Is it possible to hide this property everywhere besides server-side code ?

Sharepoint Custom Aspx Page With Database Connection?

i have created a custom aspx page whithin my sharepoint site with a sql server connection to a database on that server to select data when i view the page it works but when another user tries to view it it gives the following error :Server Error in '/' Application. Login failed for user 'GRINCORGuguK'.Description: An unhandled exception occurred during the execution of the current web request. Please review the stack trace for more information about the error and where it originated in the code. <%@ Page Language="C#" Debug="true" %>

or:2) Add the following section to the configuration file of your application:Note that this second technique will cause all files within a given application to be compiled in debug mode. The first technique will cause only that particular file to be compiled in debug mode.Important: Running applications in debug mode does incur a memory/performance overhead. Web Forms :: Show "Custom Error Page" To Redirect To From A Non Existing Html Page

Jul 6, 2010

I want to show a "Custom error page" when i type a non-existing .aspx or .html page in my application. I had followed the same steps in the link [URL] for the HTML pages also but it is working for .aspx pages but not working for .html pages if I enter any non-existing pages. I had added the path of "aspnet_isapi.dll" for the .html extension in the IIS. I also ensured that the check box "Verify file exists" is unchecked while adding the ".html" entry in the "configuration" of the "Home directory" of the website in the IIS but still it is not working.
