I am trying to populate an asp:Menu control using an XML file. I want the menu node's to display horizontally across the control in a static view, and have the SubMenu nodes expand dynamically from them.
The problem is I don't want the Top node to show up at all. Right now my menu has the Top node show and everything else expands dynamically from that. How do I tell it to ignore the Top node for my menu?
I have to create menu like outlook menu tab. I am using treeview for this. Let me know how to create menu when right click on tree node item and how to handle right click event for treeview. give any reference or source samples for this.
I am using wicked code sqlsitemapprovider and it's VB version. Most of the things are going OK! But when I wanted to hide some of the nodes from appearing on menu while staying shown on sitemappath I cannot figure it out. I tried to change the sqlsitemapprovider code but was unsuccessfull.
[Code]....
and I get this error:
Özel Durum Ayrıntıları: System.IndexOutOfRangeException: visibleKaynak Hatası:
[Code]....
Kaynak Dosya: D:WebsiteskaihlApp_CodeSqlSiteMapProvider.vb Satır: 156
How can I add this functionality into this system.
I am using the default menu bar in visual web developer 2010.I have a Staff Portal item, this has child nodes such as sales, marketing that i would like to keep hidden until the user logs in.I'm using vb.net if that comes into it
I am dynamically generating controls, and sometimes I want to create a control and have it ignore the viewstate. For example, sometimes the user has clicked a button indicating they want a different form loaded, so the control tree I generate on postback is different from the original control tree. This is fine, except when I call Controls.Add then it tries to load the viewstate form the old controls into the new controls if the control tree structure is similar, and I want them to instead ignore that viewstate(and also ignore the postback values for input controls as well).
Can I do something like set the IDs of the controls or something that would allow me to conditionally prevent them from getting the viewstate/postback data of the previous request?
Edit: If I let the user of the control load the form on demand in postback handler, the postback data is not applied when I call Controls.Add(this really seems like a flaw in ASP.NET, because I would think if you're going to apply viewstate data "after the fact" through Controls.Add, it'd seem you would then apply the postback data automatically as well after the viewstate data is loaded). The real problem I run up against is my control is very dynamic, but the user of my control can't really tell it what to do until their postback handler fires, because one of the things a user can do is select different forms to be loaded via some link buttons. So it's not until the postback handler runs that they know what the uesr requested, and thus can ask my control to load a certain form. So I have to ask them to do convaluted things like saved the formID that identifies the last form to a session variable, and in OnInit they tell my form what the old formID was via a property. My control then loads the form in OnLoad so that it can consume the viewstate and postback data, and later in the programmer's postback handler, they can choose to clear the form and load a different one if they want.
Edit2: FYI Generating IDs for each control unique to the form works great, so I thought I could eliminate the pointless loading of the old form until the programmer requests a form be loaded in his postback handler. But as I mentioned above, what I found was that loading the form after postback data handling has occurred means that data is lost. Whereas viewstate gets loaded via Contorls.Add, playing catch up in the page lifecycle, it seems postback data does not!
Is there a way to add/delete/update the default classes (for instance AspNet-Menu-WithChildren,AspNet-Menu-NonLink ) of the html generated by the asp.net menu or treeview control? I am using CSSAdapters so the menu control renders in a list format instead of table format.
For the ASP.NET Menu Server Control whose RenderMode is set to "List", there is an "Orientation" property which decides whether the menu would render as a horizontal or a vertical menu. I have compared the two HTML source code and was unable to find out which part of the HTML/CSS code set the orientation of the menu(unordered list).
I am trying to style the menu control to allow the menu items to float to the right of the container, however I am unable to do so as whenever I am styling the a, ul or li it keeps getting overidded by asp.net and floats everything left.
What I want is to show menu items Administrator or show user menu items.Show menu items using login...How I can do it with role provider, control menu and siteMap in masterpage?
I need a help in creating a vertical oriented Menu control with dynamic url's set in there Navigate Url property. Also i need to set the menu items as enable/disable in two different modes say edit/new.
We have to develop an application which has a Vertical left pane menu control which displays all the web pages (A,B,C say). Now if user is in page A and filled some data and clicks on menu control to go to page B, all the data in page A needs to be saved. Also if all the required field in page A are not filled and user navigated to page B, there will be one ! sign after the menu so that user can understand that there some some more fields need to be filled up.
We are planning to place the menu control in the Mater page. Please give me some direction to do this. My question is:
1. If user change menu (In Master Page), how should we save data?
2. How should we display the ! in the menu control?
I know that the code depicted below will not work but I am including it to convey the idea of what I wish to accomplish. I want to use a different SiteMap to construct the menu on the displayed page for each of three different classes of service (COS).
I set a session variable named "COS" at the login and want to test its value prior to rendering each page. I want to display a menu based upon the appropriate COS. Here is my first stab at it but I know that I cannot include <asp:...> controls within the "case" statements. Can anyone suggest methods of doing this? I know C# and can use that but I do not know how to select the proper sitemap within the <menu> control. I am also using a CSS in my production version.
I created a sitemap with a treeview navigation in my aspx site. I am hoping someone can show me the code to put in a Masterpage so that when I expand a child node, all other nodes collapse, and when I expand another node, the previous expanded node collapses.
I have an example here of what I am trying to accomplish:

I am using asp.net with VB.
I have been scouring the internet looking for a solution, but so far haven't found anything that works.
I'm populating a treeview dynamically. On OnTreeNodePopulate I call a sub and populate the Parent nodes. I do not want to populate the child nodes at this time. Upto this point it works fine.
Now I would like the user to click the parent node and then populate the child node. I tried to use TreeNodeExpanded, but that is called for each parent node, so that didn't work.
I am using frames in my webpage.in one of the frames i have a menu control whose items are database driven.when click on the menu item, i want another page to be displayed in other frame.
now i want to pass the the selected menu item text to the other page using session variable which is in the menu item click event method.but the thing is when i click on the menu item, the click event is not firing.
is there any better way to pass the selected menu item text to the other page?
