I need to get the latest version of DotNet installed on the machine in which my App is running. How do I get that?
I have an app which I distribute to several people. Now, If one person who runs the app has .NET version 2.0 installed, I must get that info...and if another guy has 3.5 installed, I need that info .I tried with the Environment.version, but that gives the version of the application .
I have recently found this snippet of code but I am unable to get it to work. Does anybody know if the $index syntax has changed in the latest version of the client templates?

I am new to website development, so please be gentle!I am having difficulties in stopping a hyperlink to a Excel spreadsheet on my page from being cached by our proxyserver.The spreadsheet is updated on the web server in the background everytime a user updates a sql record, however because the hyperlink is to a static name, when the user clicks on the link, often a older version of the spreadsheet is opened.I have tried many caching parameters without joy and was wondering if it is possible to create a dynamic hyperlink that always looks for the latest version of the spreadsheet ?For example if I append onto the spreadsheet the date and time everytime the spreadsheet is updated, will the hyperlink be able to find it ?All my website code has been written in asp to date.
View 3 RepliesI am a bit new to ASP.Net Ajax and as such new to Ajax itself. I have a site which uses ASP.Net Ajax. It used the version AjaxControlToolkit version 3.0.30512.0. I have now changed it to version 3.5.40412.2 by deleting the old reference and adding a reference to the latest one . I build the soultion and everything appears fine witjhout any errors. But the site fails to load showing a yellow page with the message AjaxControlToolkit Version="3.5.40412.2" missing reference to 'AjaxControlToolkit.ExtenderBase.Base Scripts.js.BaseScripts.js'. What does this mean ?

I tried to create an ASP.NET cookie using forms authentication, with a large version number(ex: 1234567 need this number for identification purposes). But when I decrypt the cookie I get 135 as the version number.
Initially the old forms authentication cookie was removed, in order to add new information.
Response.Cookies.Remove(FormsAuthentication.FormsCookieName);
Following is the code I used to create the FormsAuthentication cookie.

Can someone let me know if it's a bad idea to use such big version numbers, or am I missing something in this.
When we were using SVN, we'd always print at the footer of our pages: "Revision XXXX". I've been looking, but I can't figure out how to do the same thing with TFS. Can anyone offer some pointers?
In case this matters: we're using ASP.NET MVC. I'm guessing it doesn't matter, however.

How can i clear the client cache so when they visit website they use latest javascript files that i modify.

View 3 RepliesI have an asp.net/C# app that uses subversion for source control.
My app automatically increases it's AssembleVersion and AssemblyFileVersion on each build which works like a charm, and displays the build number in the administration side of the site.
We keep track of AssembleVersion and AssemblyFileVersion's when we do deployment, however, when an issue arises and we need to roll back to a certain version, we have no idea which revision to target in subversion.
I have few ideas:
Save AssembleVersion as comment in each file
Have a keyword in commit comments that get's replaced by AssembleVersion on each commit(still need to figure out how to do it)

option "1" is actually a stupid idea,cause this will mean that everytime i build, all files will be marked as updated and when i commit, every single file will be updated

I have checked all forums and posts regarding this error. They mention that there are 2 versions of Oracle.DataAccess.Client on the server, I only have 1 version. This runs on VS2010, but when I publish the website the error above shows up. I checked my Oracle connection from the installer and connection test passed. I tried uninstalling Oracle and reinstall, but still the same. The query above I tried changing to 'select region_code, reg_rom, ...', still the same error..
We recently launched a new web site.there are roughly ~150 users active during peak hours.During peak hours,we are experiencing an issue every few minutes,the exception text is listed below.

I have a website in which code on the production server runs no problem. The same code on my local machine or test server produces the mess seen at the end. The exact same code. Additionally, upon trying to preview any of the table adapters in the dataset I get "DataSet1.thename could not be previewed. The provider is not compatible with the version of Oracle client"
The app is SQL Server. It always has been. It has never used Oracle. Does anyone have any insight on how to fix this? As it is now I can't do anything with my dataset. I can't edit anything in there because of this complaint about Oracle.

We have an ASP.NET web application and it's hosted using IIS 6.0, in the app we have these several javascript and css files located in a folder, and for performance sake (according to YSlow) we set the folder content expiration header to 1 year. Everything worked just fine until recently when we deployed the latest build to the server, in which we had made some changes to those javascript and css files. For some reason after the deployment some of our end users don't see the latest changes when they connected to the app, even after they cleared the cache in IE. We have also restarted the IIS on the server and the problem still remained. When I went into the IE Temporary Internet Files folder on one of these machines I saw the files were still the older version and not the latest one, I had to manually delete the files from the Temporary Internet Files folder then they were able to see the latest changes. I'm baffled by this, how come only some users who couldn't see the changes but some others do (without having to do anything by the way), and how do I make sure that for future releases we won't have to do anything like what did (manually deleting the cached files)? For now I disabled the Content Expiration option in IIS for these files but I would like to know if there is a way that I can enable the content expiration (to help performance) but at the same time making sure when the files are updated, the latest version will be used for the end user (instead of the cached version)?

I have setup a .net 2.0 application with oracle backend on windows server 2008 R2. I have oracle client 11g installed on the server for the application to talk to the oracle database. This worked well when the .net 2.0 application was hosted on windows server 2003 and oracle client 10g. But when it is hosted on server 2008 with new oracle client it is giving the above error when browsing the page. This error occurs when the connection is opened inside the c# code.
