it contains can contains either of (1) strQuery = "TempTable.Group_No IN ()";
(2) strQuery = "TempTable.Group_No IN (1,2,3,4,....)";
My task is if it contains "TempTable.Group_No IN ()", (i.e) IN CLAUSE without data i have to replace the string (IN() with IN (NULL)) with "TempTable.Group_No IN (NULL)"
When I try to remove the last few characters of a string, I get an index out of range error. I am using the following to remove the characters from the end of the string: objJSONStringBuilder.Remove(objJSONStringBuilder.Length - 1, 6) The string has <hr /> at the end which I want to remove.

I can a split function and split on the backslash character to get the pieces. But if my directory could change this wouldn't work. So how would I instead parse out the last backslash and get the filename that way so that it wouldn't matter if the path changed?

I need to extract the following keywords: ConnectException, javanetConnectException and any exception as well as its exception type.
I want to dynamically populate a link with the URI of the current request, but set one specific query string parameter. All other querystring paramaters (if there are any) should be left untouched. Eg, imagine I want to build a link back to the current page, but with the querystring parameter "valueOfInterest" always set to be "wibble" (I'm doing this from the code-behind of an aspx page, .Net 3.5 in C# FWIW).Eg, a request for either of these two:
/somepage.aspx
/somepage.aspx?valueOfInterest=sausages
would become:
/somepage.aspx?valueOfInterest=wibble
And most importantly (perhaps) a request for:
/somepage.aspx?boring=something
/somepage.aspx?boring=something&valueOfInterest=sausages
would preserve the boring params to become:
/somepage.aspx?boring=something&valueOfInterest=wibble
Caveats: I'd like to avoid string manipulation if there's something more elegant in asp.net that is more robust. However if there isn't something more elegant, so be it. I've done (a little) homework: I found a blog post which suggested copying the request into a local HttpRequest object, but that still has a read-only collection for the querystring params. I've also had a look at using a URI object, but that doesn't seem to have a querystring
When deleting a GridView row in the UI (via a LinkButton whose CommandName="Delete"), the view does not automatically refresh and continues to display the deleted row until I take some other action (manually refresh page, navigate away and back again, etc).
In the debugger, I see the row is successfully deleted, and both the RowDeleting and RowDeleted events fire, but the GridView's PreRender event does not fire afterwards (in contrast, that PreRender event does fire when first loading the page, when adding a new row, etc).
I've used GridViews in similar configurations without having this problem, but I don't see obvious differences. It seems the process is aborting before the PreRender event, but no exceptions are being thrown, and stepping off the end of the RowDeleted event in the debugger brings me back to the UI as though the process were completing normally.
where I should look for the trouble or a solution? Other possibly-relevant details: the GridView is bound to a SqlDataSource; the data source does not declare any DeleteCommand; I handle the deletion by calling a stored procedure in the RowCommand handler, after which I rebind the GridView with DataBind(), at which point I can see the GridView's Rows.Count has decreased by one as I'd expect. Everything seems fine through the RowDeleted event, then... nothing!
UPDATE: tried calling the SP to delete in the RowDeleting handler rather than RowCommand handler... made no difference. The row is still deleted but processing terminates without calling the GridView's PreRender, and the deleted row is left on display until some further UI interaction updates the view.
UPDATE2: I'm not even getting the Page's PreRender event, which precedes the control PreRender events. Will continue working backwards to see if I can find where things are halting, since stepping out of the RowDeleted event seems to be the end of the line...
UPDATE3: I've been poking around some more and, although it complicates my code, I was able to get things working by declaring a DeleteCommand in the GridView's SqlDataSource that just does the simple row (record) deletion, and then in the RowDeleted handler calling the additional stuff I had in my stored procedure that needs to happen along with the primary deletion. While it's less convenient having the primary deletion in one place and the related processing in another, at least it's working.
But I don't know what to conclude from this: that a DeleteCommand is needed for proper page life cycle? that one shouldn't do a deletion in a stored procedure in the RowCommand handler? something else? I wish I could identify what, specifically, is broken about my initial attempt...

and assign the whole text including the HyperLink-Control to the Label.
Is that even possible? I think I could use reflection to create the control and set the properties. (the HyperLink-Control was just an example) But can I manage to insert the asp.net control back into the string to ensure the hyperlinks rendering as server contorl?
I hope you understand what I want. If not, feel free to post comments.

I think it won't work to assign the control into the string, because a asp.net control cannot be fit into a string.
After some thinking I found a way to achieve my goal. That would be to create a placeholder (I name it A). Therein some Literal control will be added. In addition I would create a placeholder (I name it B), add my Hyperlink into B, and add A into B. But I think is way to overkill.
The reason why I started thinking about this, was to gain access to Server.MapPath without replacing occurences in the string. I want to be able to use relative paths in my CMS, that get rendered like the NavigateUrl property from a hyperlink. Nevertheless I think my question with the dynamically creation is worth thinking about

I have 4 place holders in that aspx page.I need to bind div id="Section1" to placeholder1, div id="Section2" to placeholder2 and similar the other two sections also to the corresponding place holder. how can i loop and add controls to corresponding place holder.

I have changed the look and feel of the grid by modifying the cols, rows in the gridview. I need to save this in the gridview viewsate, so that it load the modified look and feel next time it loads from the viewsate.

When the page loads it works fine. (and lots 10 links) on the update panel it hits the same function and tries to get another 10 links. I set the navigationURL to something like
"../Folder/Mypage.aspx?498592ghjgfosdfgo"
It is set identically both times(load and updatepanel postback) but when i try to render it to html the second time (on the update panel) it adds "../" to the front so i end up with
"../../Folder/Mypage.aspx?498592ghjgfosdfgo"

Is there a way that I can create a page and master page and have some of the values dynamicly loaded thru selecting items in the querystring parameters.....
then is there a way that I can render that page only to a text string? by calling it with some querystring parameters and have it render to a string?
I guess my question is only the second part as I already know how to create a page with masterpage etc...

View 3 RepliesI have some code that is used to replace certain page output with other text. The way I accomplish this is by setting the Response.Filter to a Stream, Flushing the Response, and then reading that Stream back into a string. From there I can manipulate the string and output the resulting code. You can see the basic code for this over at [URL] However, I noticed that Page Caching no longer works after the first Response.Flush call.
I put together a simple ASP.NET WebApp as an example. I have a Default.aspx with an @OutputCache set for 30 seconds. All this does is output DateTime.Now.ToLongTimeString(). I override Render. If I do a Response.Flush (even after the base.Render) the page does not get cached. This is regardless of any programmatic cacheability that I set. So it seems that Response.Flush completely undermines any page caching in use. Why is this?
extra credit: is there a way to accomplish what I want (render output to a string) that will not result in Page Cache getting bypassed?

I am trying to use aspx pages as an email templates. There will likely be a bunch of objects on the page which will be used as replacements in the html. Because it's an aspx page I'll be able to use databinding, repeaters, etc. At run time, I want to be able to instantiate the aspx page from its path, pass in a bunch of properties, and then get the rendered result of the page and email it. This seems pretty straightforward from a asp.net website (maybe using BuildManager or Server.Execute.) However, I want to be able to use the same templates via a console application by just loading up a page object from its filepath. Is this possible?

He mentions how MVC 2 by default uses ASP.NET Web Forms view engine to render the output of the views; he mentions that the web forms view engine is a little slower than it could be for MVC 2 since it generates a control tree and then outputs the HTML to the page (I hope I said that right).
I was wondering what he meant by web forms generating a code tree before outputting the HTML to the page. Does anyone have insight on the view engine of Web forms and the steps of the rendering process works for ASP.NET and MVC2?

I have a nested gridview (gridview within gridview) that I need to render beneath the outer gridview.
I keep finding examples online of showing a nested gridview in the last column of the outer gridview but I need to show my nested gridview instead under the outer gridview.
I was certain that I had done this before by putting a row (<TR>) inside the TemplateField so that the nested gridview would display under the outer gridview. I am getting the data ok for the nested gridview, that is not a problem. The only issue I am having is making the inner gridview display under the outer gridview.

After render group name comes in the name attribute with different name for each radiobutton in the gridview.
I tried to set all the names as same. But when we see the source in the browser it is unique.
