How To Add Some Javascript Tracking Code Into A Text Box For Submitting

Feb 3, 2011

We have a site were trusted users can add some Javascript tracking code into a text box for submitting, so naturally we have turned off Validation by adding the ValidateRequest="false" into the Page Directive.

However it we seem to be getting the error again all of a sudden : A potentially dangerous Request.Form value was detected from the client , Now we cant add ValidateRequest="false" into the Config or the Master page this page inherits from. So how do I allow Javascript to be posted, what is overridding the ValidateRequest?

We are using .Net 3.5

Javascript And Webshop Tracking/affiliate Across Websites?

Apr 17, 2010

I have a small front end to a webshop. All customers that go through my website and buy an item from the webshop I get back 5% of the amount. I need to find a way af tracking the customers i forward from my webshop to the other webshop. And then get the webshop to reply to me when the purchase has been made. In my webshop i have made a small page: collect.aspx that requests and saves the values passed in the querystring, something like this pseudo code:

string orderid = Request["orderid"];
string amount = Request["amount"];
..save to database

On the webshop i forward customers to i get to insert a javascript on the last page in the purchase flow. I have tried a lot of things but it seems that the only thing that works is to fool the browser into thinking im referring a javascript, like this:

<script type="text/javascript" src="http://domain.com/mypage.aspx?orderid=4&amount=45/>

I saw how other trackers did their bit, and this seems to be the general way of doing it. With this script however, i get all the orders, i only want to log those that belong tome, those who entered through my website.

Here is my big problem, how to do this? I added a cookie when the user opens my page, and i want to check for this cookie again when the purchase page make the callback. It weems that i cant get the cookie from the browser when it makes the "" call. This is really buggin me now.

Could anyone please tell me how this is generally done, this tracking. And what am i missing in regards to this cookie thing?

Form Is Not Submitting Via Javascript On A Button?

Sep 27, 2010

My website has been created with a CSS/HTML frame work that has been integrated into an ASP.NET website. Inside of a ContentPlaceHolder, I have a simple login form. The catch is that I am using the onclick event of an image to submit the form. It normally works pretty straight forward, but this time I am having an issue.

<div id="login">
<form action="index.aspx" method="post" id="nothingForm" name="nothingForm">
</form>[ code]....

I have to stick another form before the real form to make onclick="document['loginform'].submit()" actually work. This should not be the case, of course, but I was unable to find any solutions to it on the web.

Unobtrusive Javascript Validation Not Submitting Form In Asp.net Mvc 3

Dec 24, 2010

I'm using the latest RC with asp.net mvc 3, and have turned on unobtrusive javascript validation and added the necessary scripts to the page. All of the validation works perfectly, but when I try to submit the page, it simply doesn't post. If I turn unobtrusive javascript off in the web.config without making any other changes, everything works perfectly fine.

Here's my scripts I'm using:

<script src="@Url.Content("~/Scripts/jquery-1.4.4.js")" type="text/javascript"></script>
<script src="@Url.Content("~/Scripts/jquery.validate.js")" type="text/javascript"></script>
<script src="@Url.Content("~/Scripts/jquery.validate.unobtrusive.js")" type="text/javascript"></script>

Javascript - Disabled Link Button Still Submitting In Webform?

Dec 15, 2010

I'm trying to disable a link button to prevent the user from submitting several times.

I've seen many questions like this here on SO, most people suggest the following javascript:

button.disabled = true or button.disabled = 'disabled'

Which indeed disables the button (the button is greyed out), but the problem is that it's still clickable, and still submits!!

Here is my stripped down code:

function ValidateButton(button){
// some other code
button.disabled = true;
button.value = 'Processing...';
}
<asp:LinkButton Text="Submit" ID="btnSubmit" runat="server" onclick="btnSubmitRow_Click" OnClientClick="return ValidateButton(this);"/>

Why is the button still clickable, and submits after being disabled ? The button text is still "Submit" not "Processing...', why?

Pass Parameter As Text To JavaScript Function From Code Behind

Mar 23, 2010

Basically, I have a gridview that is opened in a new window from the parent window. It has a bunch of records with a view button to view the details of each record (which stays in the same newly opened window). I have a calendar in the parent window that accepts a Date querystring parameter to set the current date on the calendar at page load. I'm just trying to refresh the calendar in the parent window to match the date of the label in the newly opened window. All the code below is in the newly opened window. The .Net code-behind below refers to when that view button is clicked and everything is populated. At the end, I call the js to refresh the parent window and pass the value of the LabelScheduleDate as the querystring parameter. Now the label comes through as '03/25/2010' in the code-behind, but when I pass it to the js, it comes through as '0.00005970149253731343' in the end querystring. I'm not really sure what is making the value change, and I want to pass it as just text. Do I need to pass it as a string object? I tried but I don't think I was doing it right.

JavaScript Function
function RefreshParent(inputDate) {
window.opener.location = window.opener.location + "?Date=" + inputDate;
}
.NET Code-Behind
Protected Sub RadGridOnlineRequests_ItemCommand(ByVal source As Object, ByVal e As Telerik.Web.UI.GridCommandEventArgs) Handles RadGridOnlineRequests.ItemCommand
If e.CommandName = "ViewOnlineRequest" Then
' populates LabelScheduleDate among other controls values
ScriptManager.RegisterStartupScript( _
Me, Me.GetType(), "clientScript", "RefreshParent(" & LabelScheduleDate.Text & ");", True)
End If
End Sub

Javascript Messagebox - Tried Several JavaScript To Popup In Code Behind But That Did Not Work

Jul 27, 2010

This program in asp.net 2.0 is a Spanish/English Dictionary.

It consists of two textboxes,one button and a datalist. The datalist is bound to an acces database consisting of two columns; One Spanish and one English. When a user enters a Spanish word in textbox1 and clicks the button, the meaning of the word appears in textbox2. Now sometimes a user enters a word that is not in the database. I want, in this case, to have a javascript messagebox to popup saying “Either the word is not listed or misspelled”.

I tried several javascripts to popup in code behind but that did not work. I know that a clientside should be included but I am not able to do that.

The sub below is the one I am using to fetch the words and it is working perfect as long as I enter a word that is already in access database. The words in the rows in database are separated by hyphens so I am using a “Split” fuction which is also working perfectly.

Moving The Javascript Code To Design View Is Not Working. Only Code-behind Attributes.Add ("onclick" Works. Puzzled

Jul 15, 2010

I wanted to disable a button after it is clicked and at the same time fire the post back event to generate a report. My first set of code did not work because soon after the button is disabled the page won't submit/post back. here's the first set of code which was not implemented. the onclientclick calls a javascript function which has these lines

document.getElementById('btnGenerateReport').disabled=true;
GetPostBackEventReference(btnGenerateReport,'');

since it was not posting back,i tried the following on page_load code behind

btnGenerateReport.Attributes.Add("onclick", "this.disabled=true;" + ClientScript.GetPostBackEventReference(btnGenerateReport, ""))

that worked well. but I tried to copy the javascript that got generated and pasted directly on design view

onclick="this.disabled=true;__doPostBack('btnDownloadClientsWithConviction','');"

its not working from client side alone after I disable the code behind attributes.add
but when I check the view source the 2 pages are the samewhy am I not able to move the code from code-behind to design view?
