When I add the user control to the page and call it without any properties:

the default values are not set and every property is 0 or null.

May 30, 2010I need to force SSL when going to the final checkout page (for example from default.aspx to checkout.aspx).
I need to pass variables to this check out page and tried to use server.transfer(https://www.mydomain.com/checkout.aspx). I then use previous page .Fincontrol to read text box and label name to this check out page. If I only do the server.transfer("~/checkout.aspx") then my I can read all vakues of my controls from the passing default.aspx page.
But when I force https:// then I cannot read the control values from default.aspx page.
Please give me some tips on how to get control values to the https:// destination page or if you have another tips on how to do it the right way, please let me know.

My question is this. I'm creating a master page and the default page is created using master page. So how do I register this .ascx page on default page. Should I register the .ascx page under master page or how. I want the user controls to only be shown on default.aspx page.

Jan 30, 2010I have a simple search user control that consists of a textbox. The textbox's onchanged event appends the entered text to another page address and response.redirects to that page. The target page reads the query parameter and displays the results. Works great the first time a search term is entered. The problem comes if I immediately enter another search term, instead of refreshing the search results page with the new query parameter, it jumps back to my default.aspx page. I'm not sure where its getting that as an address to redirect to, the only control with default.aspx as a target is a imagebutton on my master page. I've tried turing off the autopostback on the textbox but it didn't help the problem.

- Default.aspx;
- user1.ascx: 1st user control containing repeater;
- user2.ascx: 2nd user control containing a detail view of row.
In page.aspx i dinamically load the repeater inside a user1.ascx.
after i want to dinamically load the 2nd user control also in default.aspx by a button inside a user1.ascx.
How i can do this? I can't load user2.ascx inside user1.ascx but only in aspx page.

Jun 4, 2010I don't think I understand fully how ASP.NET does inheritance of controls.I have a user control, ucBase, which has an asp.net label in the ascx file. Code behind references the label and it works fine during run time if the control is not a parent for another user parent.
If I have another user control, ucChild, inheriting from ucBase, the label in ucBase's code is always null. ucChild has no controls in its ascx fileThe server controls (like the label) needs to be declared in the ascx file and not created programmatically.What needs to be done for ucBase to see its own controls when it's a parent user control?
AJAX :: Web User Control Loaded Into PlaceHolder Control Causing Full Postback On Parent Page?
Jun 1, 2010In my default.aspx page I have a PlaceHolder control within an UpdatePanel. In this placeholder control I will dynamically load a web user control, which is just a form with a submit button. On this user control, I have the form within an update panel and I have the "Submit" button's Click Event added to the triggers.
When I submit the form, the UpdatePanel on the web user control nor the update panel on the default.aspx page are capturing the post back, thus causing a full post back which refreshes my page.
how to capture this post so its rendered in Ajax and not a full post back?

Aug 19, 2010I have a label on my master page (called mainMenu) that shows the number of items in a cart. The label wasn't getting updated when the cart was cleared until after an additional postback or redirect so I created a method on the master page called UpdateNumberOfItemsInCart to update the label text.
Using the MasterType directive on the Cart page allowing me to strongly type the master page, I can access the update method from the Cart page. There is a user control also named Cart that actually contains the 'clear cart' button so I setup an event on the user control also called UpdateNumberOfItemsInCart. I wire up the Cart control's event on the Cart page which then makes a call to Master.UpdateNumberOfItemsInCart();
So far so good except when I wrap the Cart control with an update panel the update to the cart count label doesn't happen.

Adding To Page Control Collection From Inside A User Control?
Feb 12, 2011I have an asp.net usercontrol which represents a "popup" dialog. Basically, it's a wrapper for the jQuery UI dialog which can be subclassed to easily make dialogs.
As part of this control, I need to inject a div into the page the control is used on, either at the very top or very bottom of the form so that when the popup is instantiated, it's parent is changed to this div. This allows "nested" popups without the child popup being trapped inside the parent popup. The trouble is, I can't find a safe way to inject this div into the page. A usercontrol doesn't have a preinit event, so I can't do it there, and calling Page.Form.Controls.Add(...) in Init, Load or PreRender causes the standard exception "The control collection cannot be modified during DataBind, Init, Load, PreRender or Unload phases."
I thought I had found a solution by using...

... which seemed to work well normally, but recently a coworker tried putting an UpdatePanel inside the dialog and now she's getting the error "The script tag registered for type 'ASP.controls_order_viewzips_ascx' and key 'ctl00$ContentBody$OViewZips_Dialog_Div' has invalid characters outside of the script tags: . Only properly formatted script tags can be registered."

Jan 31, 2011I have created one user control for changing the theme of the page where i have several buttons and on click of each button i am applying the theme of clicked buttons color and for that i have created several css files like red.css, blue.css , green.css etc.
now i want to apply this theme to the page but i am not able to do that from the user control as because i am not getting the stylesheet property in the page and thus i am not able to work further.
