Mar 2, 2010I've read that Microsoft now bundles jQuery with Visual Studio. How then do I "include" the jQuery source in my ASP.Net project?

View 3 RepliesI've got two projects: a .Net 4.0 Console Application and an Asp.Net 4.0 Website (they are in the same solution). Now I'd like to include the console application (its .exe) in the web application, because I need to run it on the server when the user clicks on a certain button.
Now I would like to include it in a way that the console application will be updated whenever I recompile the solution, so it stays up to date.
So... how can I include my .exe in my web app?
I'm frequently adding a lot of content files (mostly images and js) to my ASP.NET project. I'm using VS publish system, and on publish, new files are not published until I include them in the project. I would like to auto include all files in specified directory. Is there a way to specify wich directories should be auto-included in csproj file or anywhere else?

View 1 RepliesI have a parent repeater that lists the sections of the website. this repeater binds to display a table that contain another repeater of the website pages .. or may display a table that contains another two repeaters of the projects categories and sub-categories.Until now everything is going fine.
The problem comes when I try to include a query of the section ID to the link of the project categories (DataView of the projects repeaters does not contain SectionID)my question is : is there any way to call the SectionID of the first repeater in my projects categories and sub-categories repeaters? Here is my code:

the code behind is as follow:

On my master page (for all pages in my site) I have a ToolkitScriptManager.
On my content page, there are a series of hyperlinks and divs for collapsible functionality.
The code to show/hide the panels work like the following:
[code]....
If I include a ScriptReference to the jQuery 1.4.2 file in the toolkitscriptmanager, the javascript code is executed incorrectly on the page (only the text for the hyperlink is changed, the div is not actually shown.) However, if I don't include the jQuery file in the ToolkitScriptManager and instead include it in the content page, it works correctly.
I am using Asp.Net C# 2.0. My website is working fine in local. Website contains 2 js files included in master page. It works fine in local environment, but when i publish my website i get "Object expected" error on page load, and thus the js functions are not working in published website.
Currently i am writing <script src="/javascripts/jquery.hotkeys-0.7.9.js" type="text/javascript"></script> in master page.
i have saved a copy of jquery-1.4.2.js in my local project folder also have jquery-1.4.1-vsdoc.js
I have added comment like /// <reference path="jquery-1.4.2.js" /> in my custome javascript file
Also in another project in the same system i can uise jquery well
but in one of my project i show Microsoft javascript.... errror
what can i do? a line like $("#K").val(); gives error
I have a C# ASP.NET MVC application which has been using jquery 1.3.2 in VS2008 environment.
I decided to upgrade to 1.4.2 and added the file to my project. Changed the reference in my masterpage header to the new version. But now nothing works, it's like it can't find the jquery library.
I have just started with ASP.NET.
I like the idea of using Include files so that I can create various versions of individual parts of a site and decide in code which to display. I used:
<%Response.WriteFile("contentcontent.aspx")%>
to include a content.aspx file within my default.aspx page.
I would like to include a Left.aspx, Main.aspx and Right.aspx file inside the content.aspx file. I tried using the reponse.writefile function but noticed when I debug the website that the text "reponse.writefile..." displays instead of the code contained within the referenced file(s).
Can this not be done?
I am new to web development, learning ASP.NET. I used some JQuery script so am just wondering if it causes some performance issues or anything like that. Is it OK and rather safe to use it?

I'm just using a simple slideToggle function of jQuery. It works properly in my HTML file. But whenever I take codes into a ASP.NET WebForm project, script doesn't work. I can't achieve slide effect.
Is this a known issue? It's probably a popular mistake done by developers though. What could be the problem?
(I didn't copy&paste any code because of I thought this is not a specific situation, but I can show codes if you want)
I've looked all over the web for the best way to organize an ASP.NET MVC2 project. I've only seen examples of people using the default template for MVC2 projects. But is this the best way to organize your project if it is going to contain a large number of files?
We're in the process of building an application that is heavily built around jQuery for UI and ajax using JSON. So, as you can imagine, we will have many custom .js support scripts.
In our solution, we have placed all our support libraries (3rd party and custom) into respective projects. The MVC2 project that is also in the solution is using the default MVC2 template.
In the MVC2 project, the "starting" structure is still pretty much unchanged. Under the Controllers directory, we have each controller AccountController.cs and HomeController.cs (for example). Under the Views directory, we have three subdirectories named Account, Home, and Shared. In the Scripts, directory we have also divided that up with three directories, Account, Home, and Shared. And finally we have the Models directory, that is also divided into Account, Home, and Shared subdirectories.
As you can see we haven't deviated from the basic template that much. But, as we start adding stuff to this, we're realizing how cumbersome this might become when we get upwards to 20 or 30 views and 100 support .js files.

I have downloaded a project from the internet called the SMS Source example. I wanted to open this project in VS2010, so a conversion wizard has popped up prompting for the conversion. But it has errors in converting.

On the Timelog page, I want to put 2 dropdown list: 1 Manufacturing Project, 1 Engineer Project. However, users can choose either Manufacturing project dropdown or Engineer project dropdown (not both).
View 4 RepliesI'm trying create unit testing for an existing website project (not web application project). I cannot access my under test classes unless I use accessor. However, if I use accessor, I have problem to initiate an object with passing arguments. I only want to create unit tetsing for App_Code. After searching web, and I found that I'd better to create a web application project using my current existing website project. From solution explorer, add new project ->using existing website. My questions is: what impact will have for my current website to create the new project? Should I just convert my current website to web application? If do that, will it cuase problems on my website? I am new on asp.net, still learning..
